CHAPTER 3

The next morning, Anant woke up hearing the chan-chan sound of bangles. He opened his eyes to find Navya standing in front of the mirror. She was looking very elegant in a red-color sari with a diamond mangal sutra dangling on her neck and red bridal chura adoring her hands. She has put little red bindi on her forehead but what increased her beauty more was the sindoor on the parting of her hair. He was lost for a moment seeing her which made him realize a little later that she was struggling with her earing that was stuck with her hair causing that sound of her chura as she was pulling the earing to take it off.

"Ahh.." She winched a bit as she has pulled the earing a little harder.

"Main madat karu?" Asked Anant standing beside her.

Navya looked at him and after a bit of hesitant, she nodded her head.

Anant loosens the patch of her earing and pulls the strand of hair from there slowly so that it doesn't hurt her. In this process, his fingers brushed her cheek making her nervous. He was so engrossed in this task that he has bent very closer to her ear that she could feel his breath on her nape. She closes her eyes as she was feeling something very unusual while Anant could smell her hair which she has shampooed few minutes before.

"It's done" Said Anant and moved aside from her.

"Thank-you" said Navya softly.

Both were feeling a bit awkward by this sudden closeness.

"Uhh Navya, you don't say anything else apart from thank-you or do you?" Asked Anant in a joking way to lighten the atmosphere.

"Oh..sorry" replied Navya thinking that he didn't like it.

"Arae?" Anant looked at her amused. "I mean you don't need to be so formal with me, we r friends right, remember?"

"Yeah" She smiled a bit.

"Good morning, Maaji" Navya wished Sugandha and bent down to touch her feet.

"Hmm sada suhagan raho. Now come to the kitchen" She blessed her sternly and asked her to follow her. Navya followed her but she could make out that her mother-in-law was unhappy with her which made her upset.

"Every newlywed Bajpai bahu has to make some sweet dish in the morning. This is our family custom. So do you know how to cook or you are sent away just like that without any training?" Sugandha sounded totally like a typical mother-in-law.

"Jee Maaji, shall I prepare gajar ka halwa?"

"Whatever." Sugandha replied and went out of the kitchen.

In the breakfast table, Navya served the sweet-dish with a small smile.

Om tasted the dish followed by Anant and everyone.

"Waah Navya beta! You have made such a delicious gajar ka halwa" Praised Om with a broad smile.

"Come here beta, have your naik." He added.

Om gave her a sum of rupees 1001. She took it and touched his feet to seek his blessings.

"Jeeti raho beta." Smiled Om much to Sugandha's annoyance.

"I found the sweet dish too sugary." Interrupted Sugandha.

"No maa, it's perfect!" Anant defended Navya looking at her while she smiled shyly.

"Ahem! Ahem!" Coughed Nimisha in a teasing way, looking at Anant and earned an angry glare back from him which made her chuckle.

"I am done." Said Sugandha and left the dining table in anger.

Navya became sad seeing her mother-in-law's indifferent behavior towards her.

Anant looked at her and gestured her with his eyes not to mind to which she nodded slightly with a fake smile.

"Arae Anant forgot to take his tiffin. Lochan bhaiya give it to the driver and tell him to take this to Anant's office." Sugandha ordered the servant and as he proceeds to go, Nimisha took the tiffin from his hand.

"Don't worry Maa, Bhabhi will give this tiffin to Bhai." Said Nimisha with a cheeky smile.

Navya stopped cutting the vegetables and looked at her.

"Main?" She asked.

"No what's the need of Navya going to his office. I mean the driver is there to give na." Said Sugandha. She didn't want Navya to spend so much time with Anant.

"Par Maa" Interrupted Nimisha "I have heard that bhabhi completed her MBA from the same college where am studying right now, so she can accompany me there and see her old college and then she can go to bhai's office and give this tiffin to him. What say Bhabhi?"

Navya looked at Sugandha for permission while she rolled her eyes and said "Do whatever you both feel like" and went from there.

"Chaliye bhabhi, get ready." Said Nimisha and went out.

Navya took the tiffin box but found that the food has gone cold.

"Yeh toh thanda ho gaya hain, I should prepare something but what does he likes to eat?" Wondered Navya.

"Bhabhi, Bhai loves to eat palak paneer and I am not that getting late for the college." Peeped Nimisha in the kitchen with a teasing smile.

Navya bit her lower lip in shyness and took some paneer out from the refrigerator.

Lovely update & loved the aankhon ki baasha of Anya very cute.. Morning scene was beautiful with navya getting shy but anant realizing it & tried to make it comfortable with his comment :). Continue soon..
