Scene 1
The episode begins in the forensic lab where we see Dr. Salunkhe examining the nail of a severed finger along with duo, Freddy sir, Dr. Tarika and Pankaj. He concludes that the victim was a male, aged 32 years, seemed to have suffered from a heart attack in the past 2-3 months, was addicted to smoking and alcohol, avoided milk products and was unmarried. Obviously everybody is surprised that he obtained so much information just by observing a fingernail.
Scene 2: Few hours earlier
A few hours earlier, we see a couple driving along on a desolate road. Suddenly a car being rashly driven by a lady comes up from behind and accelerates next to theirs; the terrified lady says her car's brakes and hand-brakes are both failed. The couple warns her that the road up ahead is rough and to save herself she must decelerate the vehicle and jump out of it. The lady is frightened and hesitant, but finally relents and jumps out while the car crashes over the edge of the road overlooking a crevice. The couple pulls over and approaches the lady to find her bleeding badly, and decide to call the ambulance but before fainting she insists they should first remove a bag containing 1 crore rupees from her car. The man approaches the wreckage of the car, but it explodes and the cash goes flying in flames.
Scene 3
Abhijeet sir, Freddy sir, Purvi mam and Pankaj are seen examining the remains of the car along with a technical team, one of whom informs Abhijeet sir that the car's brakes had been sabotaged. Freddy sir and Pankaj try to recover as much of the cash as possible. Purvi mam finds the remains of the briefcase which had contained the cash; Abhijeet sir wonders where the lady Payal was taking so much money. He and Freddy sir praise the couple for helping save her life. Freddy sir opens the trunk of the car and they're shocked to find a burned corpse inside it.
Scene 4
In the forensic lab, we see duo, Freddy sir and others with Dr. Salunkhe who remarks the body has been damaged very badly. He points out that one of its fingers is missing, though it's hard to tell if it happened during the accident or not. Abhijeet sir says they should look for the finger at the crime scene, while Daya sir decides to question Payal about the body.
Scene 5
ACP sir, Sachin sir, Shreya and Nikhil are seen questioning Payal in the hospital, who denies knowing anything about the body in her car trunk. She goes silent when questioned about the money she had with her. Shreya demands her to co-operate saying that someone intended to murder her by sabotaging the brakes. Payel says her husband Alok was kidnapped the night before when he was supposed to be returning from Pune, but suddenly stopped answering his phone and eventually she received a call demanding a ransom of 1 crore rupees. ACP sir observes Payal and wonders if the corpse was Alok's. Suddenly, Payal's condition starts deteriorating and they get medical attention for her. She tells ACP sir the kidnappers had instructed her to deliver the money to a house in Lonavala, which turned out to be deserted. Then the kidnapper called and told her to go back to Mumbai, and the car's brakes will fail during the journey. When asked, she says all of Alok's fingers were intact and is happy that the corpse isn't his. ACP sir tells her to take care and leaves with the team.
Scene 6
Abhijeet sir and the others arrive at the accident site again. Purvi mam informs him that Payal had indeed been called from two PCOs at Chunapati and Ghatkopar, and it proved impossible to track down the kidnapper since both are crowded areas. They start searching the area for the finger. Purvi mam suggests that the impact of the accident could've resulted in the car's trunk being smashed apart and the finger severed; Abhijeet sir says it must've fallen out since it wasn't found in the trunk. Freddy sir spots the finger stuck up in a tree, and retrieves it. 👏 The team departs for the lab.
Scene 7
Back in the present time, Dr. Salunkhe explains how he deduced all that info by examining the severed finger. The finger bone helped estimate his age while the pale line on the anterior side of the nail indicates he had suffered from some severe disease like heart attack. Abhijeet sir says the colouring of the nail reveals the man's smoking and drinking habits. The pale spots on the nail indicate calcium deficiency, resulting from less or no consumption of milk products. Salunkhe sir adds to Freddy sir that the unmarried point was a joke. Dr. Tarika gets Alok's medical profile from his family and finds out that his blood group doesn't match with the victim's.
Scene 8
Abhijeet sir, Kavin and others arrive at the deserted house in Lonavala where the kidnappers had called Payal. They search the place and Abhijeet sir finds a trail of something being dragged out of the house, leading to tire marks in the garden. They construe (visually portrayed) that when Payal parked her car there and went inside to find Alok, the kidnappers dragged the body out and quietly put it in her trunk, while one of them sabotaged the car's brakes, Payal never realizing what happened. Abhijeet sir says the kidnappers' intention wasn't to get the ransom money, but to murder Payal.
Scene 9
At one Green Root Hospital we see the receptionist telling someone on phone that according to a pundit, she will be meeting her valiant prince charming that day. Sachin sir and Nikhil enter to talk, and she has a vivid daydream of both of them smiling broadly and offering her beautiful red roses. Before she can decide whom to accept as her dream prince, ACP sir and Shreya arrive and pull her back to planet Earth, 🥺 and ask for a list of patients aged 32 who had suffered from heart attack. She hands over the file and ACP sir sees there are three such people, one of those blood group matches with the victim's - named Aryan. ACP sir says the body could be Aryan's.
Scene 10
ACP sir and the others visit Aryan's house, which is seen to contain several musical instruments all around. They meet his assistant Rita who says Aryan has been missing since two days and his concert organizers are getting impatient. She tells them about Aryan's last few activities before going missing, which includes going out for lunch with Payal, who she says is his good friend. She says Aryan's only family is his aged mother in Kolkata, and provides her address. ACP sir decides to ask her for a blood sample so they can confirm via DNA test if the finger is Aryan's or not.
Scene 11
In the lab, Dr. Salunkhe informs that according to the DNA report, the severed finger is indeed Aryan's. Dr. Tarika says if they can get any intact tissue from the burned corpse, they can confirm if the body is Aryan's too. Duo wonder, assuming the body is his, why it was placed in Payal's trunk. Freddy sir informs that according to his assistant he was close friends with Payal. Abhijeet sir gets suspicious for obvious reasons.
Scene 12
Payal is being discharged from the hospital when ACP sir and the others enter, and inform her that the corpse was Aryan's. Payal is devastated and confesses she and Aryan were in a relationship, as Alok used to neglect her and she wanted to leave him. She says Alok had no idea about their affair. ACP sir wonders if Alok found out and staged his own kidnapping to murder Aryan and both frame and kill Payal.
Scene 13
The team and Payal meet Alok's father Mohan who says his son can never do such a hideous deed. He says he last met Alok three days ago before the latter left for Pune. He says after Alok left, he found a badly damaged envelope in his room which looked as though it was attacked in rage, but didn't check its contents. He hands it over and it's found to contain photos of Payal with Aryan, shot discreetly. ACP sir also finds the card of one private VK Detective service inside, implying Alok had set a detective after Payal. ACP sir decides to meet this detective guy.
Scene 14
Abhijeet sir and Kavin meet the detective Manish as he's getting disguised as a woman. He agrees that he had shot the photos of Payal for Alok, and on seeing the photos Alok flew into a rage and began saying he'll kill Payal. Abhijeet sir says they need to deal with Alok now.
Scene 15
There are some nice light moments of duo and Dr. Salunkhe in the lab. The latter and Tarika explain that they finally managed to retrieve some DNA from the burned corpse, and it doesn't match with Aryan's DNA. Abhijeet sir says the body could be Alok's then, and only his father Mohan can help them find out.
Scene 16
At Alok's house, Mr. Mohan is unwilling to give his DNA sample out of fear of finding out about Alok's death. ACP sir gently convinces him to co-operate with them.
Scene 17
In the lab, Dr. Salunkhe reveals that Mr. Mohan's DNA indeed matches... not only with the burned body's but Aryan's DNA as well, thus implying Aryan was Mohan's son as well. Abhijeet sir wonders why he hid this from them.
Scene 18
ACP sir and team enter Alok's house to find the place lying in ruins. They search the place calling for Mohan and Payal, and find the servant Raghu lying unconscious in a room. They revive him and he says a masked man stormed into the house in a rage and kidnapped Payal and Mohan. He adds that one of this man's fingers was missing. ACP sir says this could be Aryan, who's alive. Raghu adds the man threatened to kill Mohan, and also captured Payal when she tried to fight him, and took both of them in a brown truck 30 minutes ago. ACP sir instructs Sachin sir to inform the control room and order them to intercept this truck.
Scene 19
A gloriously exaggerated and melodramatic scene where we see Payal and Mohan tied up on a rooftop, while Aryan taunts them to his heart's content and reveals Mohan had ditched him and his mother in Kolkata before marrying a rich lady in Mumbai, and Alok was his stepson. Aryan says he's doing it all to avenge what Mohan did. Thus he murdered Alok, put the body in Payal's car trunk and sabotaged her brakes, then severed his own finger and threw it at the crime spot to divert all suspicion towards Alok. He prepares to kill his hostages and sends out his henchmen to guard the place. Abhijeet sir and the others arrive outside where the brown truck is parked. Aryan's henchmen spot them and open fire; there's a gun battle in which the cops slay all the enemies and enter the building. They go up onto the terrace to find both Mohan and Aryan dead, and Payal lying injured and unconscious with Aryan's gun in her hand. Abhijeet sir recognizes Aryan as none other than the private detective Manish. Abhijeet sir retrieves the gun and asks for Payal to be taken to the hospital.
Scene 20
ACP sir and team meet Payal in the hospital, who says Aryan first shot Mohan dead and then shot her in the upper arm; she fought back and in the struggle, the gun went off and Aryan was killed. ACP sir says there will be no action taken against her as she had acted in self-defense. Payal says she'll leave the city once the matter is settled. ACP sir wishes her luck, and they leave.
Scene 21
Two days later, Payal packs up and prepares to drive away from her home when ACP sir and team arrives. ACP sir sarcastically says they've got a gift for her, and directs Shreya to retrieve a revolver hidden in her car. ACP sir says this was the gun she had with her and used to kill Aryan, as the bullet retrieved from his body came from it and not Aryan's gun. Payal feigns ignorance, but Sachin sir and Nikhil pull out a briefcase from her car which is filled with cash. Payal tries to flee, but Shreya catches and hands her a tight SLAP (tm).
Scene 22
Payal confesses Aryan desired revenge from his step-brother Alok and father Mohan, and got into a relationship with her intending to use her to get his job done and then dispose of her by sabotaging the brakes. However, she saw through his plan and decided to take advantage, and kill Aryan as well once the other two were dead. She wanted freedom from them as they used to ill treat and abuse her, and saw the additional advantage of gaining all their property in this plan. ACP sir condemns her decision to take the law in her hands, and says she'll likely be executed for her crimes.
