Anurag Kashyap Goes to Hollywood

The director is all set to helm an international project next year.

For a while now, rumour mills have been buzzing overtime about Anurag Kashyap's hush-hush plans to direct a Hollywood film. Now, Mirror has learnt that the film in question is a dark crime thriller.

Says a source close to the development, "Anurag will only focus on this film in mid-June, after the release of his period thriller Bombay Velvet. The international project will kickstart in July and is a completely western production which will be shot entirely abroad."

When contacted, Anurag, not surprisingly, was unwilling to discuss details, "The international project is currently at a preliminary stage. It will not begin till the final print of Bombay Velvet is delivered. That's when we will start pre-production on it. It is a big project and there is a lot of development happening on it internationally. We cannot reveal what is going on. As and when the time is right, we will speak about it. At this moment we don't want to jump the gun."

Meanwhile, speculation is rife that his Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma starrer, Bombay Velvet, which was to release in November, requires 60 days of reshooting. Anurag dismisses the buzz saying, "All this speculation on why the film has been delayed is only that--speculation. Anything reported so far is far from true. Work on the sound and the background score has started. We are working to find the right sound."

The source is more forthcoming: "At the moment they are working on the visual effects of Bombay Velvet. About 40-45 per cent of it is complete, but it is going slow as Bombay of the '60s is being completely recreated through VFX. They should be done by December and the background music, which is being created simultaneously, should be completed by January 2015. After this Anurag will work on the final editing, then will start promoting the film and gearing up for a big May release."

The source adds that only four days of shooting is left: "A song is being conceptualised for a music video and will be shot sometime early next year."
