He has done critically acclaim movie not only one but few other too like khamoshi, tere naam etc etc! But i have never seen srk or Ak doing any intense typ role yet unless ra- one, CE, Cdi, 3 idiot, lagaan are one of them! D

🤔 Errr he played the stereotypical loverboy in Khamoshi(and he was easily the weakest link of the film) where he was totally overshadowed by Manisha, Nana, Seema Biswas and even the child actors...while he was good(from his own standards) in Tere Naam, again his performance was nothing compared to Vikram's heartbreaking performance in Sethu(originals always rule).. and now please throw Kyon Ki in the mix because you have to see Jack Nicholson's awesome performance in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest first and then you will realize how Salman pales in comparison!

Art or Mainstream this film should be entertaining (Salman im looking at you) 😆😆

I think Salman Khan did very well in movies like HDDCS, Tere Naam, Kyon Ki and Khamoshi. Some of his nineties movies also had good performances as a brooding youth. Even the likes of MPK and HAHK had good romantic performances. He may not be on par with some accomplished and veteran actors. However, when you see what a departure they are from his normal style you see that he was good.

Salman Khan is not a terrible actor as people assume him to be. His range is not phenomenal or on par with greats. But he has the ability to do different roles. His forte though is a silly slapstick kind of humor. He is an entertainer. His masala action comedy mixture was popular with masses. So he built his brand as that masala flick hero. People, his fans especially expect him to churn out these masala type flicks. It is the brand he has built for himself, not his actual acting ability that prevent him from being an art house hero.

I think the same can be said about SRK. He has done great roles like CDI and Swades. Even some old films had great acting. He was phenomenal in Darr. He did action well in Don. But he has built himself as that larger than life romantic hero - the one that opens his arms wide, bats his eyelashes and melts people with his dimples. His fans love him as that. He may still have more leeway than Salman to do art house cinema, but most people wouldn't embrace SRK unless he gave them the larger than life stuff masses crave.

Only actors who actually tried to steer their commercial success into different roles are Saif and Aamir I think. But somewhere along the way Aamir became more and more of a pretentious prick each day. Phenomenal actor, one of the best, but too egotistical and builds himself too much.

That's another reason why Salman or SRK may not shift to art house cinema. Their ego, their cockiness is invested and fueled by their fans. No matter how big their ego, they are still very much dependent on their fans and are very aware of the equation. Aamir on the other hand has become bigger than the industry and even his own fans - its all about him. Now I'm just rambling I think...

Govinda has rejected an "arty" film that was offered to him by his good friend and actor/producer Salman Khan.
The film, which was a remake of superhit Marathi movie Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho', is said to be too much of an "art" type film for Govinda to accept.
"I didn't like it. Later, Salman said he will make a few changes in the script and came to me again with it, but again it didn't interest me. I thought it's a very arty film and I don't want to do an arty film at least with Salman Khan," Govinda told reporters in a group interview.
Talking about his bonding with Salman, he said: "We had a great time shooting together for Partner'. He is a very dear friend. We are almost the same".
