Chapter 4 Preview Extra...
It was already evening when I finally was able to go home for the day.
After an entire day of meetings with other politicians, community leaders, and promoters and leaders of different fundamentalist groups...I was completely tired and it was finally in the back remote section of my vehicle did I officially allow myself to completely relax.
"You have an early meeting with the lawyer in the morning and soon after you have another event that you have to attend." Anna's voice said.
I rubbed my neck and pushed my hand through my hair before I looked up front where she was looking at me with a smile on her face and I groaned.
"Isn't it a weekend?" I sighed and she looked at me puzzled.
"That's not like you, you usually get annoyed when I don't arrange for you to do something on the weekend. But I can't cancel this, this is for a new community library that will be built and last I checked you were for all educating our youth...it would make you look bad that you didn't even care about the event and namely idea that you spurred on." Anna said with a serious expression.

"Sir, its just that..." she started and before she could finish a screech came from the living room area towards the large foyer area where everyone was at and along with the screech was the soft pitter patter of something coming forward...

Chapter Four
I leaned over and kissed his cheek and his warm brown eyes flashed towards me.
He was upright in his wheelchair in a long sleeve white kurta pyjama, fully cleaned and dressed after I helped take him a shower, brushed his teeth, dressed him, and fed him as Kittu tried to quickly get dressed as she was almost late for work.
"Goodbye papa...I have to try my luck for an interview...wish me luck." I said as I placed a wrap over his shoulders and kissed his forehead.
"Please make sure whatever you feed him is not too solid or tough, he still can't fully chew." I said towards Reshma.
She nodded.
"Please, if there is an emergency please call us as soon as possible...if not possible on your cell." I said.
She looked away and nodded and I looked back towards my father.
"Bye." I said and I smiled as I saw recognition in his eyes but of course he couldn't speak.
I sighed and turned towards Reshma and nodded towards her before I left the room, headed downstairs, and went outside of the house to fetch an auto.
I sighed when I was inside the rickshaw and stared at the portfolio that was in my hand.
I quit my job at the club or rather I should say I did so I could avoid from being fired instead as Pakhi told me that the customer demanded I be fired or he would make sure the club would personally be responsible for any damages.
I ran my hand through my hair and looked out at the other vehicles and cars that were zooming by and I smiled despite everything.
Hopefully this new job I was going to would be different.
"Here...I know this might not be of much help but contact this guy, he is an ex-boyfriend of mine, either way he is the owner of this place you should check it out." Pakhi said.
She handed me the address, the phone number, and the name of the owner who was simply known as Jay.
I called and scheduled an appointment to meet him today around 10. I checked my watch and it was already 9:15 and I was on good time.
It took another 20 minutes to arrive and I paid the driver before I stepped out the auto, pulling my purse closer towards my shoulder as I looked at the building and the area around it.
I checked the area in disbelief, not sure if I was in the right address, double checking the note that she gave me.
This was the more affluent crust of Delhi and I was shocked at the shopping centers, the large corporate buildings in the distance, and the scattering of bars, lounges, and restaurants.
I looked down at my outfit and wished I chose a more flattering outfit to wear instead a pair of flats, black leggings, and a white dress shirt.
I took a deep inhale and then let it out.
I most likely wasn't going to get the job but it was better just trying then not trying at all.
I walked on the sidewalk until I found the building that matched with the appropriate name and I entered into a place that was lit with a dull light, soft music playing in the background, bartenders cleaning their station and keeping up stock, a few waitresses chatting and talking.
I continued to walk forward into the room looking for someone that could help me out in figuring out where to meet the person I was suppose to until I heard someone clear their throat behind me.
I turned around and saw a woman standing behind me.
She was a bigger woman with pale grey eyes, burgundy hair and was shorter in stature, and was wearing ripped jeans and a crop top that showed part of her torso.
"Excuse me, may I help you?" the women responded and a smile spread on her lips.
I smiled and proceeded.
"Yes, I was suppose to come here for a job interview with the manager and was wondering where he might be?" I asked.
She smiled and she pointed towards the back.
"The manager doesn't stay on the 1st level around these hours, he is on the third floor making sure the pool is getting cleaned, you can talk to him there, I will call him to make sure he knows you will be arriving." She said.
I nodded and she quickly held up to what she said as she digged out her cell phone, talked to someone on the other line while she looked at me.
"He is expecting you, you may proceed on upwards towards the third floor." She said.
I nodded and proceeded onward, twisting my fingers in hope that somehow, someway I will actually get this job.
I didn't tell Kittu I lost my job and I didn't want her to worry more so do something where she felt as if she had to protect me .
Never will she have to get her hands dirty...I will protect her even until my last breath...I owe her and papa that much.
With my mind made up, blood pumped up, I proceeded forward towards the stairs hoping that somehow this Jay, will give me a chance to work here.

But I can't cancel this, this is for a new caf that the mayor has helped built from the ground up. You know public appearance, public support, means more privste support for your campaign." Anna said with a serious expression.
"I'm going to have to finish the event early...I have somewhere else I have to go." I said with a serious expression.
"Are you serious about running for prime minister? You are barely a candidate yet and you are blowing off on your duties as is. You are popular with the public but don't get cocky, there is still a long way." Anna scolded me while giving me a deep scowl on her face, twisting her features.
Instead of responding I sighed and looked at the window, watching the roads, cars, and the scenery flashed behind my eyes, not really seeing anything as there was only one person on my mind.
A smile spread on my lips and I finally felt peace and calmness that I haven't felt in a long time wash over me and I could hear Anna's lecturing me even more in the background but I couldn't really make heads or tails of what she was really saying, so instead I continued on in my own head.
It took less than five minutes later for the car to come to a complete stop and I noticed the large complex looming in the dark and for once Anna quieted down.
"Anand, I know you were ignoring me...fine you can do that...ignore me if you want but I'm not letting you off tomorrow, you have to fulfill that event whether or not you like it, this is serious, whatever you have to do tomorrow, you can reschedule it another day." She said in a tone where it seemed as if she already had her mind already made up without my input.
Instead of answering like I usually would, I ignored her and stepped out the car when my driver opened my door.
I nodded and soon walked towards the front of the house to the front door and I could still hear Anna scolding, cursing, and talking as she was trying to catch up to me as I made my way to the front steps of my house.
I used my keys and unlocked the front door and wasn't surprised to be met with a group of maids that were bowing towards me as soon as I entered the house.
"Good evening, Mr. Shergill" everyone commenced at once and I nodded over towards the head maid who was an older woman that has been with me for more than five years and she looked at me with a uneasy expression.
"What's wrong?" I asked with a serious expression and she didn't meet my gaze and soon the relaxed easy-going mood I was in turned into something serious.
"Sir, its just that..." she started and before she could finish a screech came from the living room area towards the large foyer area where everyone was at and along with the screech was the soft pitter patter of something coming forward.
I turned towards it and noticed her with her large thick mass of frizzy curls, pink and white polka dot pajamas, and her favorite large bunny rabbit, that I bought for her when she was only 14 months old, that she was caring or rather dragging against the floor.
"Papa!" she squealed again and she lifted her head up and aside from her mass of curls a pair of light brown eyes that was similar to mine and two large dimples creased her cheeks when she saw me and she continued to make her way towards me but I met her halfway as I quickly scooped her up and she squealed in delight when I did so, wrapping her hands around my neck.
"How is my favorite girl?" I said while feeling a smile stretch on my lips.
She smiled and giggled and shook her head.
"I don't understand...what do you mean?" I said while give her a confused expression, all along playing with her so she could respond.
"She is okay." She said in a small voice before using the flaps of her pajamas to cover her mouth while she looked at me and giggled before she lowered her eyes, her eyelashes falling over her chubby cheeks.
I smiled and I pouted.
"It seems that you didn't miss me." I said sadly and she lowered her hand and shook her head vigorously back and forth.
"Not true, I missed papa!!!!" she said with an adamant expression.
"I don't believe it." I said with a pout and she squealed and she shot up and planted a kiss on my cheek and I smiled and before she could detect that I was teasing I relaxed my expression.
"Welcome home papa!" she said with an ecstatic smile that spread throughout her entire face causing hr dimples to show once again on either cheek and I smiled
"Okay, okay, I believe it.." I said while smiling and she brightened up completely and then she tipped her head to the side.
"Bad papa, very bad papa." She said with a pout forming on her lips and I looked at her confused.
"How so?" I said.
"You're home late." She said while pouting and I smiled and for the first time I looked away from her and finally realized there was other people still in the foyer area.
In a more serious tone I dismissed the maids while the bowed before they made their way out as Anna and the head maid, Faiza, were the only people remaining and they maintained a safe distance from where I was holding my daughter, Sohni.
It was already something that Faiza was used to but Anna at times still try to breach that barrier and Sohni was not having it.
It wasn't that hard to see it or understand it, but Sohni had a natural distrust of other people but more so with women.
Every time I tried to hire a nanny to take care of her she would yell and scream almost as if she was fighting for her very life and she would try to hit and bite the person.
The only woman she would even allow to touch her more or less talk to was my mother and even then that was a big stretch because at times she would break out and she would become aggressive towards her if she was to agitated or cranky.
I dealt with so many therapists and psychologists along with other doctors and they weren't exactly sure but I already knew it was because of that woman, that so called woman that unfortunately had to be the one that raised her during the earlier years of her life.
Whatever that woman did to her when she had in her custody...
"Papa's sad, don't be sad..." a soft voice said.
I looked down and stared in her eyes that were close to breaking out into bountiful of tears and I gave her a smile before she started crying.
"I'm not sad, how can I be when I'm with my favorite girl." I said while rubbing away the creases that were starting to form on her brow and she plucked her sleeve back towards her mouth as she nodded and slowly her body began to slacken and I could feel as she dropped the bunny down on the floor.
Faiza try to walk forward and pick it up but Sohni's relaxed position stirred up and I could feel the tension start to rocket up in her body as she kept a fixed glance on Faiza, gauging her with an unsteady gaze.
I rubbed her back, to soothe her, calming her down while taking the item from her and directing her to have someone prepare Sohni's room.
"Sir, would it be okay if I bought her her dinner as well, she refused to allow us to get near here and when one of the other workers was able to approach, she refused to eat." She said.
I nodded and she nodded before she walked away, preparing to set up Sohni's room.
I kept on rubbing Sohni's back until she fully relaxed and in little to no time she was falling asleep until she fully passed out and I smiled but I slowly lost it.
She never falls asleep when I'm not around.
It took a while to catch on but she was always exhausted every time she came home thinking she would exhaust herself but after finally digging in that she didn't fall asleep...at all and I try bringing this up to her doctor in fear that it might be serious but they didn't think so as I just had to set a regulated schedule for her sleeping and eating schedule and habits.
I sighed and stared down at her and smiled at her mass of curls hiding her face as she leaned in against my chest; her thumb stuck in her mouth, as she made soft little mewling and snoring noise.
I smiled and kissed her forehead and she snuggled even more into my embrace and I smiled as I continue to stare at my daughter as I carefully chose my next words towards Anna who was surprisingly quiet for once.
"I asked for us to finish the event early...because Sohni has been begging for me to take her to the zoo and I promised that I would." I said quietly, not looking at her but hoping she caught on without me having to go into too much details.
Anna sighed and she nodded.
"Should I arrange for anything special?" she asked.
"The same as last time." I said with a soft smile and she smiled before she sighed again.
"Okay...okay...I understand, I will try to adjust your schedule but you will have no break next week or the weekend, at least on Sunday attend the fundraiser." She said with her index finger pointed directly at me.
I nodded and smiled.
"It's late, I will have someone escort you home." I said changing the subject and she rolled her eyes in an exaggerated exhausted display.
"If I didn't know any better, I would think you have finally fallen for my charms." She said while mimicking her curling he hair behind her ear, despite the fact that her hair was bound in a tight bun on top of her hair.
I just stared at her and she began waving her hand.
"Now really, you can't mix business and pleasure now...I'm a fully professional individual although I tend to be one to "curb the rules" once in a while." She said while winking at me and I all I did was crease my brow and was surprised at myself when I broke out in laughter.
I shook my head.
"You do more than curb the rules, if it wasn't because you were good at your job you would have been fired a long time ago." I said while laughing even more when she lost the smile on her face and it turned into agitation.
"But seriously, if I was attracted to you I would have never hired you." I said with a serious expression and her features evened out into a sympathetic smile and I could see pity enter her eyes and instead I ran my hand through my Sohni's hair as she started fussing as one strand caught in her mouth.
I smiled as she just as easily went right back to sleep and cuddle herself even more into my arms.
"You need to move on...I'm saying this more so not for your sake but for your daughter and more so as a future politician. A family man is always seemed as being more trusted..." Anna started and I cut her a glare.
"Never. Never will that happen." I said with a focused glare towards Anna.
Instead of cowering like most of my employees she smiled and still continued on.
"You can't keep your daughter away from the public gaze for too long, your ex has already made it know that she has some links to you. Even though we silenced the questioning, it can't erase the doubts and suspicions in people's mind. People are already talking about a secret love child that you have under wraps." She said.
I tensed at that.
"I'm not saying this to be mean, nor as your personal assistant or as a body guard, I'm saying this as a friend Anand, reconnect with your family and find someone...soon, or at least announce about Sohni before someone else catches wind and uses it against you. I don't think I have to say it but your brother is also running against you. " She said.
I looked away from her and began to carefully think before she spoke up again.
"Plus not all of us are so bad, if that was the case you wouldn't even have hired me more or less even trust me if you thought so." She said with a smile.
I looked at her sharply at that statement.
"I hired you Anna because you seemed desperate for a job, not because I had a reflection that your gender was any different from what I perceived and experienced. Women are all the same to me, all conniving, manipulative, and innocent all for a reason to gain something." I said with a tense expressions.
Anna cocked her head to the side and gave me a sympathetic smile towards me before she glanced towards Sohni and involuntarily my hands wrapped even tighter aroung my daughter under her gaze.
"So does that even extend to her? Will she become nothing but a conniving and manipulative woman as well?" Anna said.
My heart clenched painfully in my chest as I stared down at Sohni's sleeping face that was relaxed and at peace.
"Anand, just one small word of advice..." she started and I looked at her from the corner of my eye.
"I might not know your entire past, but I can tell you don't generalize every bad thing that happened in your life and make labels on a person, if I did that with people I would have hated you." She said softly.
I looked at her in confusion and she smiled before she winked and gave me peace sign.
"I will ask the driver to drop me back, good night and send me the info on the address on which zoo you are visitng so it can be properly shut down from the public." She said with a smile and waved before the guards at front quickly opened the front door before she walked out of the front of the house.

Saturday Morning...
I stared at my watch and groaned.
"One small cup of coffee." The waitress said and she carefully placed a cup of coffee in front of me and I nodded and she looked towards something that was on my side and smiled.
"You play?" she said confused.
I followed her direction and noticed what she was staring at and realized that it was towards the large wooden case that was propped up against the table.
It was a guitar, more so a brass guitar that my father bought for me when I was only 11 years old and was developing an interest in music.
Mira wanted to play the drums and he bought her a metal drum set and during our free times we would practice playing, pretending as if we were musicians and were famous people were there were a crowd of people attending our concert.
We had so much fun...until things started to become strain when papa had his first heart attack and then a stroke which almost left him completely immobile from working that our financial situation started to become strained.
Mira immediately went to pawn as much of her stuff, including the drum set, and when I insisted of doing the same with my stuff she almost yelled my ears off when she gave a sharp denial.
"I am the older sister, this is my duty...don't you dare sell your guitar!!!"
I was 15, she was 18 and I followed through but this time...I wasn't going to do it.
I was selling the guitar so papa could finally be able to seek treatment for his speech and physical therapy.
It was a bit of stretch that this will help, but I was slowly saving up and this might help.
Plus I didn't tell Mira that I was secretly helping people wash their laundry and was helping to deliver food at times for some of the neighbors that were around, and even helping to tutor some of their children when there was time.
I sighed and looked at the waitress and shook my head.
"Not anymore, I used to but its no point keeping something around that is of no use." I said with a sad smile and she looked at me with a confused expression as if she looked uncomfortable.
"Okkkayyy, well if you will excuse me." She said with an awkward expression as she went to greet a young couple that walked in hand in hand.
I stared at them as the waitress sat them down, the young man helping to remove the chair so the young girl could sit down before she scooted herself in and the couple stared at one another before they smiled and blushed one another.
I smirked and shook my head before I picked up ym cup of coffee and began to slowly sip it and watched as the couple began flirting among another, the boy resting his hands against the girls on top of the table.
I sighed.
They looked happy, there were obviously in love and it was showcased inevery action of theirs.
It always seem so simple at first, but I knew better.
When reality hits, that is when we really see how the one we consider lovers show their true colors.
The shy smiles, stares, and sweet nothings soon turn into glares of agitation, frustration...
Those shy smiles turn into smiles of sadness, regret, and disappointment.
The title of trust and loyalty become nothing but false promises...
I placed my cup down and stared at the brown pool of liquid in my glass cup and side.
Love...no matter how many times I have seen it in my life, it was never anything to be desire. It was always so painful, so hurtful, so distrustful; people never could fulfill the promises that they so easy make for one another...
Love just never seemed practical.
I sighed and chook my head.
Why am I thinking such things...
An image of his cold light brown eyes entered my gaze and I picked up my coffee cup again.
His guarded his impression, his impenetrable yet completely fitted and stylish suit that exuberated nothing but power and command, his long, long, long legs...
Its been almost two weeks or so since that meeting but for some reason my mind kept on popping him in my thoughts.
More so because he curtly dismissed Mr.Dhawan's aid, almost deeming him incompetent and successfully ruffling that cocky man feathers, and he was still raging and complaining to this very day.
I smiled and sipped on my coffee.
I haven't seen anyone successfully rack Mr. Dhawan's feathers and maybe that is why that man seemed so interesting to me.
His brown eyes...his cold demenanor...his touch...
I stared at my right hand where he touched with both of his hands.
His hands was surprisingly rough, hinting at seeing times of hard labor, but his hold demeanor seethe hardness, roughness so I wasn't so surprising.
His touch...it felt hot, really hot and when he moved his hands away...I lost it.
I sighed and shook my head.
You are thinking irrelevant things again girl...
I finished the rest of my coffee and signaled the same waitress who tended to me before.
"Yes ma'am?" she asked when she noticed my hand raised and she walked over with a small tray.
"If you could please just watch my stuff I need to quickly use the restroom if you wouldn't mind?" I asked.
She nodded and smiled.
"No problem ma'am it shouldn't be too much as there isn't that much customers." She said with a smile.
"Thank you." I said and quickly went to the restroom.
There were agroup of teenage girls fixing their makeup and talking, their voices cattying over into the stall where I was busily trying to relieve myself.
"So fasssttt!!!!" one girl exclaimed.
"Not really, me and Naksh slept together on our third date with one another..." another voice said.
"Well I'm not bragging about it, but the same with Jason as well, I mean its either you look the part and act it as well or they will find someone else." The other voice said.
"Yeah right, Naksh knows he won't find anyone hotter than me." She said with an overwhelming amount of pride.
There was laughter.
"Not with that eyeshadow...put some lipstick on...you look awful." Another girl said while snickering.
"At least I put on makeup, have you seen Layla, she looks like a freaking trainwreck...she wears no makeup and wears nothing but the same outfit almost everyday...I doubt that Naksh will try to find someone else." The overpride girl said while laughing...
"She is basically almost a dude..." she said.
"Hey don't say that even some guys have some type of makeup nowadays..." Another voice said while laughing and I waited for a while until I heard their voice leave the stall before flushed the toilet to wash my hands.
I looked at their path to the door and shook my head.
It makes no difference how many years goes by or how the generation changes, its always the same, people were so cruel to anything that wasn't the norm.
I shook my head and saw my reflection in the mirror and subconsciously I looked at myself.
I wasn't wearing much makeup, just some light foundation and some lip balm, my hair was let loose on my waist as I was wearing a simple kurti and some jeans with some ankle boots but other than that I thought I looked okay.
Nothing over the top...I began teasing my hair and dropped my hands down on my side.
What does it matter?
I'm not in school anymore where I was ridiculed everyday for wearing the same outfit almost every single week...
I sighed and shook my head and began washing my hands, using soap, washing it with water, and fetching some paper towels to wipe my hands as I stared at myself in the mirror.
None of that matters, only Mira and papa matters...it doesn't matter.
I said with a smile and threw the paper towel into the waste basket and headed outside of the restroom into the caf when I stopped dead in my tracks, my heart hitting the floor, my breathing completely stopped.
Slowly making their way into a seat were three very large muscled men that were busily scanning the caf as the patrons around began to take notice and the servers became tensed and on edge.
I quickly used my hair to shield my face as I quickly tried to make my way towards my table until someone called out to me and I incredibly stiffened.
I ignored and continued to walk but the person called out to me and I glanced from the mass of my hair and saw it was the waitress who was assigned towards me and at the same time the group of men looked towards my direction suspicion on their face.
My mind was racing, thoughts were pacing in my head but I was dismissing each and everything and soon I heard the footsteps of the waitress and I turned slightly towards me and she handed me a bill.
"It took you a while to come out, I didn't think you were going to ever come out...but here." She said and I nodded taking the bill and soon I heard shuffling from the seat where the men were...
"It can't be..."
"Calm down it can't...
"Thank you..." I said as quickly to the waitress and quickly rushed towards my seat, grabbing my small backpack and carrying case for my guitar before I heard their chairs scratch against the floor.
"It is, its her!" they said.
I quickly looked up and they saw me and I cursed.
"Stupid Kittu." I said and instead of any further thought I turned around and quickly ran towards the front of the restaurant.
"Hey, HEY!!!! YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR YOUR BILL, YOU DIDN'T PAY FOR YOUR COFFEE!!!" a voice yelled.
I looked back and threw quickly over my shoulder.
"Sorry, I will another time...in a hurry!" I yelled back and quickly ran to the foll potential with a guitar and backpack as far as my legs could and I looked back and saw the men was gaining speed and I continued to press forward.
"Its HER!!!!! GET HER!!!" the men yelled and I could feel their footsteps gain even more behind me.
I reached the street area, aside from the other businesses that were around the area and quickly tried to flag down a rickshaw.
I flailed my hands and looked back and saw the men and instead began running once more and flailing desperately for any vehicle to stop, for anyone to see me but every vehicle zoomed past.
Please God, please God, please God...please God...
I chanted over and over in my head as I continued to run and flail, feeling my body was going to give way as my legs were burning, my face dripping with perspiration from the afternoon sun, and my arms were aching as I continued to flail it in position as I tried to gain someone's attention anyone's help until I felt someone latch on my arm, painfully twisting it and I moved in direction towards the force.
It was one of the men who latched onto my arm and his hot breath was blowing threateningly down on my face.
"This b****!! You and that sister of yours are quite slippery..." he said with an agitated voice.
My heart thundered painfully and I looked around making eye contact with people for help but they just quietly grabbed their partner or child and rushed along.
I tried to plead with someone anyone but they ignored me as the men began to flank themselves around me, I tried to turn and walk away but they just twisted me back towards them and I when I tried to strike and punch them, they just caught my fist and laughed at my failed attempts.
"Leav...leave me alone." I said and it came out shaky and unsteady which caused them to laugh even more.
"Leave you alone you sa...sure, sure we will leave you alone..."
"Where is the money? We will leave you alone as soon as you give us the money." The other man piped up.
"I don't...I don't have the money...we never borrowed money why won't you leave us the f*** alone already!!!" I said in a defiant voice which had them laugh even more.
"We told you time and time again we cannot get in contact with her, so in that case that debt falls on you guys hands...our boss is not happy, he has been looking for you and that wh**e of a sister of yours..." He cut short when I spit in his face.
"Don't you dare call my sister a wh**e!" I said while gazing at him with a death glare and instead it caused him to go on a rage and was close to hitting me but the other man restrained him.
"Cool it, cool it...boss said not to hurt her...cool it, cool it..." he said and looked towards me.
"The boss patience is gone. But of course we have a payment plan that you and your sister can easily fulfill..." he said with a smirk.
My gut hallowed and it didn't take long to figure out what they were thinking before I tried to run but the other guy once again grabbed me and almost dislocated my shoulder but successfully knocking my guitar case flat on the ground, spilling the case open.
"Let go, let me go, let me go..." I continued to struggle and instead the guy was dragging me and I used my legs to kick, my nails to rake, anything but it was useless.
I closed my eyes.
There was no way this was how this was going to end for me and I closed my eyes trying to think of something, something to escape this but nothing was coming up and as soon as all hope was lost I felt the guy who had a tight hold on my arms slacken and his body became tensed.
I carefully lifted my eyes open and noticed there were police officers all around in a circle, guns pointed directly towards the men.
Passerby's and onlookers from before that ignored my plight of help earlier stared around in amazement, some in confusion as to what was occurring.
"It's very rude to disturb an event but what is even more disgusting for man to put his hands on a woman." A voice said.
I looked up and saw a beautiful woman with dark brown eyes who was no taller than I was in a crisp black suit, her hair in a tight ponytail, and she had a soft smile on her face as she stared at me.
She slowly walked closer towards me and soon the men who had my arm, grabbed me closer and without warning he put a knife at my neck and I heard the release of the safety on every police officers gun being cocked and clicked and instead of waiting I counted slowly in my head before I made a risky decision and pressed my head slowly forward, my neck against the blade of the knife, while his hands strangled closer around my waist and neck.
"Now this can go in either two ways, I promise none beneficial towards you, You can let the girl go and let the police arrest you and we will be down with this or have them shoot you and your s*** d**** bunch of friends. I promise you can have the choice of your body ending up at the police station or at the morgue." She said.
"You already going to be charged harshly for threatening government officials and disturbing the peace of citizens, oh...let's not forget assault as well." She said while point out her hands out towards me, more so towards the idiot who had his hand around my neck.
"Miss..." the female voice said but before she could finish I reeled my head backwards, using as much force that I could to smash my head against his face and it firmly slammed against his lips and nose and he reeled, releasing me as he screamed in pain and I quickly scrambled away from his grasps towards the ground and before he could latch onto me he was deemed immobile as he began to shake on the ground as someone must have released a taser on his a** and he began to shake and practically flip on the ground before cops swooped in, grabbed him, and his buddies before they tried to run away.
The officers all directed the men towards their police cars and the woman in question looked at me and she gave me a soft smile before she walked over towards me and I gauged her with an unsteady gaze.
"I'm sorry for all the unnecessary trouble but if you don't cooperate with me, you might have to face the same trip down to the police station with the other three." She said with a smile.
I looked at her confused.
"But they were chasing, following, and attacked me." I said in disbelief when I was finally able to gather my voice.
"It doesn't matter, there is an opening ceremony for the mayor's caf and soon enough a fight breaks out almost posing a threat towards him and the other officials...the police won't be so inclined on hearing your story so please just wait here until we can get the situation under control." She said and she looked at me with a steady gaze.
I looked at her confused and she smiled.
"Please trust me, I have to handle something really quick and you will be fine...just stay calm and wait for me here." She said.
I stared at her confused.
"My name is..." she started but another voice called out.
"Anna!" a husky, deep voice called out and made its way towards our area.
"Anna!" the voice yelled and she rolled her eyes and got up and soon a man with a dark black suit like hers made its way towards her.
"What's taking so long? Hasn't the situation been resolved, remember..." he said with a clipped tone.
"We have a little situation on our hands..." she said while directing her gaze towards me.
The man followed her gaze and I was surprised when it was the familiar light brown eyes that I saw before...that looked just like that man from Mr. Dhawan's office and his eyes widened in recognition and I looked away, feeling flustered and strangely embarrassed at my physical state and the fact that I was crouched on the ground.
"We don't have time, clear this situation up and clear it up fast." He said and I felt his gaze back on me and I looked back towards him and for a moment all we did was stare at one another.
********************
We were in traffic and we were finally making our way towards the event, thinking that we were good on schedule until we were informed that we might have to be delayed as there was a disturbance close to the event at hand.
I was already annoyed at having to attend something so tedious and really wanted to get home in time to take Sohni to the zoo like I promised.
It's been a long time since we just spent a day with one another...
I looked at the woman and I lifted up my brow in confusion as it was the same woman from earlier...she was clearly ruffled up, her hair messy around her, her eyes pink and red, while her clothing was filled with dirt from the ground.
She looked down and started patting her clothing, slowly dusting it off, and I smirked before I looked at Anna.
"Can you please tell them to hurry this up?" I said and looked at the girl who was looking around for something and I followed her gaze towards a wooden case that was propped open and a guitar propped out of it.
I stared at her as she tried to get up but she flinched and instead ignored her but she continued to flinch and I was getting annoyed.
"Anna." I said and she looked at me.
"Yes, what's wrong..." she said.
I lifted my head towards the girl and the case and Anna followed my gaze and understanding dawned and she quickly clapped her hands together and nodded, winked, and went over to help the girl pick up the case and handed it towards her with a smile.
"Here you go." She said with a smile and the girl stared at her and nodded brusquely before she looked towards me and I met her gaze right back.
"Thank you." She said and I scrunched up my eyebrow in confusion and Anna as well.
"Why are you saying that to him?" Anna asked and the girl stared at me before she directed her attention back towards Anna.
"Because you didn't do so before without him motioning for you to do so." She said with a blunt expression.
Anna pouted and the girl looked at her confused.
"I didn't notice, I thought you were going to try to run away so..." Anna said while folding her hands together sheepishly in annoyance while minor interested flared at her response.
"I didn't notice earlier but yes you're right." Anna countered with a smile.
She stared at Anna and released the hold that Anna had on her when she was helping her to walk and directed her gaze towards me once again and I looked at her right back, for some reason unable not to.
"Since it seems that you are her boss, I will just ask you my question." She said directly.
I lifted my eyebrow and was shocked at her bluntness and forwardness, Anna's sheepish and playful expression was gone as the girl hit a nerve.
I nodded.
"It seems that you are being more reasonable and you seem more logical at this point, but I would like to know if I may leave now? I am a victim yet being treated like a criminal." She said.
I looked towards Anna and she responded.
"You are not being treated like a criminal, we just want to know your connection with them and if they posed any threat towards the mayor or towards any of the other guests at the event..." Anna started but she was interrupted as the girl raised a hand to stop her from talking and I almost smiled as no one other than me dared to ruffle her feathers.
Anna's usual expression was twisted in annoyance and I could tell she was close in snapping but the girl continued to talk as if there was no problems whatsoever.
"I could have told you easily if you asked earlier, there is no connection." She said.
I smiled at that.
"It's an obvious lie right? Nobody just starts going after someone in broad daylight." I said.
She looked at me and I noticed something in her expression but thought I imagined it as it disappeared just as quickly.
"I have no connection with them. Just that they are debt collectors and they are after me..." She said silently and she placed the wooden case on her back.
I stared at her gauging her to see if she was lying or not and she looked at me.
"No one would announce proudly that they have people following them around for money, I don't have time...I got to go." She said with a serious expression and she looked back at me with a defiant expression and I looked at Anna who was also staring at the girl.
"Just let her go, the police already have the culprits and we are wasting time out here." I said.
She smiled and was about to say something but I raised my hands to stop her.
"There is no need, it wasn't for your sake." I said.
She smiled.
"I was just going to say thanks." She said before she nodded and slowly started to limp herself away from the area and I looked towards Anna who was still staring after the girl.
She quickly dialed someone up and without looking at me, began speaking.
"There will be a taxi that she can take to her destination." She said and I shrugged.
"I don't care, the situation is solved, lets hurry this up." I said while sighing but couldn't help looking at the path as to where the girl was limping towards and I sighed heading towards the car.
