Meet B-Town's new action hero

After having played the intense, brooding lover in many films, Shiney Ahuja is now trying something new. On July 21, the Woh Lamhe actor will jump from a height of 50 feet from a moving helicopter on to an airplane and mark his debut as an action star.

Ahuja will shoot this daredevil scene for his upcoming film Hijack, directed by ad filmmaker Kunal Shivdasani.

Charged up

The scene will be performed at Mauritius airport under the guidance of action director Allan Amin. Says a source, "Dino (not the actor), who is Saif Ali Khan's business partner, is producing Hijack (the duo have plans to produce films together). Dino has taken permission to shoot at the airport and made all the necessary arrangements."

Allan, who leaves for Mauritius shortly, explains, "This will be the first time Shiney will perform such a stunt and he has not asked for a body double. He is very charged about the scene and I'm sure he'll pull it off. The airport schedule will take 15 days to complete."

Die Hard-inspired

So why does Ahuja have to jump onto a plane? "The plane is being hijacked by a group of terrorists and the protagonist's (Shiney) daughter is on the plane. As soon as he lands on the wing, he pulls out his gun and fires at the plane's fan, which gets damaged and the flight cannot take off. The hijack is foiled," Allan reveals.

Apparently, the plane lands for re-fuelling at the same airport where Shiney's character is employed. "Shiney's role is inspired from Bruce Willis' character in the Die Hard series who foils an attempt to hijack a plane in a similar manner," the source adds.

Hijack also stars Esha Deol in the role of an airhostess.
