Ok, back to debate....

Are parents included in Authorities?
If so, then answer = yes...the girl's are their responsibility, and they can just be cowards and run away from the situation

They are old enough to make their decisions. 23 and 33 they are not children, they are legally and mentally mature enough to make their decisions, thus the parents cant coerce them or force them to live a life of heterosexuality no matter how much they want it.

oh ya, forgot all about age...
then guess no one has the right to butt in in their lives besides those two, and others that are permitted to do so.

I concur with both you guys. In different situations I get confused on how far an adult should be granted freedom to make own decisions? When someone is above 20 then obviously it is their life and no one has the right to interfere but then the other day we were discussing about a couple populating a village with one kid every year, now going on 23, and almost all of us here wanted someone to interfere and force the guy to snip snip😃.

I think it's high time society stopped harassing homosexuals. Being homosexual is not a crime. It's just one particular sexual orientation among several. Heck it happens in many other species as well. And like someone pointed out, homosexuality is nothing new. It goes back centuries if not millenia.

Besides, the so called "norm" in society is artificially created by us and it varies greatly from one culture to another. In some native American cultures for instance, there are more than 2 types of socially constructed genders (as opposed to biological sex) and this leads to acceptance of several different sexual orientations. In Melanesia same-sex relationships are part of the culture. And so on and so forth. Go back to the past and you will find periods of acceptance of same-sex relations.

I say let them be...it's not harming anyone is it? They are perfectly normal human beings and they should have all the rights that the rest of us have, including adoption rights. Just because people have become needlessly biased against them doesn't mean we stop them from adopting. Instead society needs to become less intolerant. There was also a time when people were needlessly biased against widows for example (they were to be isolated from the rest of society, amongst other things). Heck that still happens in many places today. People need awareness, that's all. 😃

All said and done, I really don't see what this couple achieved by getting ritually married. As far as I know, same sex marriages are not legal by law or religion anywhere in the subcontinent. So they really are no better off legally than they were before. 🤔 I guess they got some peace of mind plus they made a bold statement in front of society. Kudos to them. 😊

Why? Is everyone turning gay? 😕

Homosexuality is not a new phenomenon. It was always present along with the "normal" way of living. In the past those who were scared to come out of the closet married someone from opposite gender and then continued such secretive relations. Many of the Hollywood actors in the past who were said to have died of Cancer actually died of diseases related to AIDS which they contracted because of this style of secretive living. Atleast by coming out of closet there will be more awareness better precautionary ways.

Having said this I still find it difficult to accept such marriages because marriage might tomorrow give them right to adopt children and personally I feel people are still not ready to accept children from such homes and this might cause a great deal of pain in innocent minds. Adults can still manage but children alienated might get tramautised. Remember the case of two children whose parents died of AIDS? Parents went on a strike to throw those kids out because they were worried that kids will pass the disease when in reality kids didn't have any disease. They were getting punished because of their parents.

You might be right that people are very biased that they will make it difficult for the children of gay couples, but does that mean that these adopted children the ones with no parents who are being thrown around from foster homes to foster homes are better off in those circumstances than with two people who love them and want to care for them. Even with the issues that come with having gay parents many of them are better off since they are in loving and nurturing environments with parents who can afford to feed them ad care for them.

I remembered reading about a florida supreme court case once in which the court decided to give the custody of a little girl to her white father rather than her mother (also white) because the mother was married to a black man. The court said that they didnt want the child to deal with the stigma of being raised in an interracial household. Does that decision seem fair in contemporary standards? I dont think so. Now adays it is not a big deal, as it shudnt be. What does the race of the two people matter, if they are good parents.

The same way in 20 years it might be completely accepted that people are raised in gay households, but until gay couples are allowed to adopt children and raise them and the world sees that these children are just as well adjusted as any other kid, this bias wont go away. If we continuously from the fear of this bias, bar these people who can provide good homes for children there will never be tolerance for it. I believe it is high time that we stopped allowing intolerance to stand in the way of providing kids with loving homes and families.
