Enough is enough Kumkum Bhagya
15th April'2014 was the launching date of Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms' show Kumkum Bhagya and after around 3 weeks of high melodrama the protagonists of show Abhi - Pragya (played by Shabbir Ahluwalia and Shriti Jha) started their married lives. This marriage comes with an misunderstanding as a marriage gift like most of the shows on Indian Telly soaps and stays.

From then onwards few things which has made their permanent home in the show and irrespective of any track it makes its way out to shock viewers through its peek-a-boo. They are -
- Whatever male protagonist is doing is doing for his grandmother Dadi' even caring for his counterpart.
- Whatever female protagonist is accomplishing, it is solely for one reason that is not to hurt her mother and for obvious reasons Dadi'. Oh! That includes responsibilities towards her husband too.
- Despite of falling-catching, eye- locks and many romantically forced hilarious moments the protagonists have shown minimal spark.
- Repetition of dialogues - I want to throw you out of this house' , I don't want to see your face' , Don't talk to me' and blah blah from male lead. From female lead Whatever I am doing is for Dadi and mummy' , Even I don't want to stay in this house' and many more does give a sense of boredom to the viewers.
- Girlfriend in between and hilarious fights with her. Her nafrat continues and so does failures to break the relationship between two. She has nothing more than just a mere side character having no aura of its own.
- Kitchen politics by sister-in-law for whom her Bhabhi is Behenji types and whom she can't stand because her love is in love with her Bhabhi initially then her sister finally.
- Mismanaged romantic angle of second lead of Purab-Bulbul which lead to one side sacrifice by Purab and Bulbul luring him to do using her family as bait.
- And the BIGGEST of all award goes to the misunderstanding which was there on first day till date with a bar showing only and only growth.
Kumkum Bhagya has a potential to come up with a good entertaining drama but it is trapped between long unresolved misunderstanding which is hampering growth of story line even after six months of inception.
High ego of male protagonist Abhi has a very kiddish attitude which doesn't gel with logical thinkers amongst viewers. Despite of being the only earner of his house he is merely shown a puppet in hands of his sister, Dadi and his girlfriend. Whatever they say he does. On the other hand female lead Pragya is shown traditional with modern approach but she too seemed to behave like a sandwich between her mother's illness, Dadi's wishes and sacrificing lady for everyone around except her husband. She is mature who does kiddish things with her husband, a character not given a chance to bloom fully.
Remembering lines of Samuel Taylor Coleridge
"Water, water, every where,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, every where,
Nor any drop to drink"
In similar fashion emotional drama, emotional drama always but not an ounce of emotion that really touches heart, that's what is Kumkum Bhagya. It is high time to end this drama of misunderstanding and sequence of blame game otherwise the viewers have started yawning with excessive boredom. We hope that the makers are listening.
