OS: One memorable day [17+]
It was a Saturday morning, the sky was shining brightly filling the city and forgetting the thunderstorm from the previous night. Birds were lightly chirping among the fresh breeze in the air.
Raji was sleeping on their black and grey couch in the living room with her head resting on the sofa pillow. Trying to stay awake all night, she had eventually dozed off. Her sleep was interrupted by her cell phone ringing.

She turned to the side on the sofa and slowly woke up. She opened her eyes and took a moment to realize that she had slept on the sofa rather than in the room. She got up and felt her neck which was slightly sore from sleeping on the sofa. She picked up her phone and spoke.
"Hello..."
"Hello Rajima"
"Enna pa?"
"Illai...I tried calling maapilai but his phone is switched off adhaan I called you. Is maapilai with you? Is he awake?"
Raji realized why her dad was calling her and she looked at the clock on the wall. It read 7 am.
"Illai, pa he's not home right now. Maybe try calling a bit later."
"Seri ma, I will. Bye ma."
"Bye pa."
Raji tried calling Karthik again and leaving him texts however there was no reply. She knew where he would be so she quickly got ready wearing a pink salwar. She took an auto to Netech and went straight upstairs to their floor. She searched his room but he wasn't there. She went to the canteen and there she saw Karthik. He was sleeping on the table with his laptop open beside him. She slowly went to him and sat in the chair beside him. She took out her cell phone and played the tune she had downloaded a few days back and started to sing along with it.
"Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday to you...Happy birthday dear Karthik...Happy birthday to you!!"
Hearing the music, Karthik got up and saw Raji. She gave him a big smile.
"Happy birthday Karthik!!!!"
Half asleep it took him a few seconds to come together. He looked at Raji and said "Thanks Raji" giving her a smile.
He looked around and realized that he had spent the entire night at Netech. He felt bad. He always made it home no matter how late he worked but today was the first time he slept at work. He looked at Raji who just smiled at him with those beautiful almond shaped eyes.
"Happy Birthday Karthik! Many many happy returns of the day. I love you..."
"Thank you...sorry Raji. I'm really sorry. I fell asleep without realizing it...romba sorry..."
"It's okay Karthik, I know you were busy. We have the entire day ahead of us. Are you done your work??"
Karthik looked at his watch and then turned on the laptop that went to sleep.
"Yeah, I finished it just give me 15 minutes, let me check and send this then we can get out of here."
"Seri Karthik."
"I'll wait for you downstairs." Raji said getting up.
"Seri."
Raji went downstairs as Karthik wrapped up his work. He met Raji fifteen minutes later in the reception on the first floor.
"Alright Raji, let's go." He said taking his bike keys from his pocket.
"Is everything okay with the project?" Raji asked.
"Yeah it's done. There's no problem for that. I stayed late last night and finished everything and..." he stopped with a sly smile on his face.
"Enna?" Raji asked confused.
I already told them that Monday we are not coming and taking the day off.
"Huh? You did? Why?" Raji asked confused.
"To spend some time together pondatti and not worry about work." He said in an attracting voice.
Raji had no idea what Karthik was up to.
"Didn't they ask the reason?"
"I told them we had appointments." He said winking and smiling at her.
"So Monday we can go out! Let's go to the theatres!" She said excitedly.
"Sunday we can go out all you want, Monday is our relaxing time...at home just you and me..."
He whispered moving closer to her. Raji took a step back as Karthik took one step forward.
"Karthik." She whispered in a low voice.
"There are cameras here..."
Karthik stopped controlling his emotions.
"Let's go home." He said taking Raji's hand.
Both left Netech and went home on Karthik's bike.
As Raji opened the front door, her phone rang again. She checked her phone and saw that it was her dad calling again.
"Karthik, it's appa, he tried calling you before also."
"Appriya, seri I'll talk to him. Hey Raji can you do me a favour and put my phone to charge."
"Seri Karthik."
Raji took his phone and went inside while Karthik talked to her dad.
"Maama"
"Piranthanal Vaalthukal maapilai."
Karthik gave a smile hearing his father in law. "Thanks maama. How is everyone there doing?"
"Everyone is doing fine maapilai. How are you and Raji?"
"Raji and I are doing perfectly fine" he said giving a smile to Raji who turned hearing Karthik say her name.
"Seri maapilai everyone here is waiting to wish you, hold on..."
"Seri maama..."
Raji's family wished Karthik one by one on the phone. Raji was walking towards him; she smiled seeing how happy Karthik was before heading to the room. After each member of Raji's family wished Karthik he hung up and went to find Raji. He saw her getting some things out of the cupboard. He went and snaked his arms around her waist behind her and hugged her from behind. Raji put her arms on top of his arms that were around her waist.
"I love you..."
"I love you too" she said.
She turned around and faced him then went straight for his lips. Both shared a passionate kiss. Karthik was about to wrap his arms around Raji again but his phone interrupted them. Raji broke the kiss.
"Looks like someone's calling to wish you."
Karthik went and saw Vishnu's name on the display and let out a smile thinking about his best friend.
"Hello"
"Dei machan! Happy Birthday da!"
"Thanks da."
"Apprum inikki enna special."
"Onum illai...you know I don't really celebrate my birthday so big...Raji and I are planning to go to the temple."
"Oh okay seri seri. Well I'll talk to you guys later. Once again happy birthday da."
"Thanks Vishnu."
He hung up and went back to Raji. He was about to go for her lips again but this time Raji's phone was ringing. Karthik let out a small sigh then took a piece of Raji's hair and put it behind her ears before she left to attend the call. Raji looks at the call display and got excited.
"Hello?...Aammam...konjum porango..."
She turned around and looked at Karthik who raised his eyebrows asking her what was up. Raji was excited but tried to remain calm.
"Karthik..."
"Enna Raji"
"Someone wants to talk to you..."
"Yaar?" He asked having no clue what was happening.
"You come and see." She said in an excited tone.
Raji gave the phone to Karthik then left the room closing the door leaving Karthik in complete confusion.
"Hello..."
There was silence between Karthik and the caller...then finally a voice appeared.
"Karthik..."
Karthik recognised the voice right away and got shocked. He stood there silent lost for words.
"Hello...Karthik...?"
"Ammaa..." He finally managed to say still not coming out of the shock.
"Happy Birthday Karthik..."
Karthik was overwhelmed. His mother was talking to him after several months. He felt as though he was in a dream. He ran his hand in his hair and tried to be composed.
"Thanks ma..."
"Hold on appa wants to talk to you..."
"Seri ma..."
A male voice came onto the phone now.
"Karthik"
"Hi pa"
"Happy birthday da"
"Thanks pa"
"How are you Karthik?"
Karthik was lost for words still finding it hard to believe he was talking to his parents. He thought they would never forgive him. He remained silent finding it hard to produce what to say.
"Karthik? Karthik?"
"Huh...I'm here...I'm good. How are you and Amma?"
"We are good...we miss you..."
Karthik was feeling guilty.
"Sorry pa..."
"Why?"
"No...for everything before...I know how hurt you guys must feel...I shouldn't have promised to marry Sumathi and get your hopes up..."
"Karthik, don't worry about the past, it's over. We are not mad at you anymore, it's better we move forward..."
"Illai pa I never should have agreed to that..."
"Karthik leave it da, today's your birthday you need to be happy. What happened before was our fault also, we should have respected your decision, it's your life. You should marry someone you love and someone you want to spend the rest of your life with not someone who you are told to marry."
A smile appeared on Karthik's face now.
"Raji's really great dad..."
"I know Karthik. I like her also...we know how much you love Raji...your mom and I have forgiven you...we're not mad..."
Hearing his dad's words he got emotional, he wanted to hug them both so badly right now but stood there in his room trying hard not to cry. Karthik's mom took the phone again.
"Karhtik..."
"Enna ma"
"I understand your love for Raji da...she really is the perfect match for you."
"Thanks ma...she is the best. Thank you for calling I'm feeling very happy and relieved right now. I should have called you guys before."
"We also wish you did...but Raji made up for that."
Karthik got confused hearing this.
"What are you saying?"
"She called us last week itself."
"She did?" He questioned his mother.
"Yes...at first we were angry and we hung up but she never gave up. She kept calling and she told us how much you miss us and that you feel bad. She wanted us to make your birthday special by wishing you, she didn't bother if we were mad at her but she wanted you to be happy."
A new wave of joy entered Karthik. He looked at the door and saw that it was closed. He wanted to see Raji right away!
"So you both planned everything with her?"
"More like she planned everything for you da."
Raji Raji Raji Raji... was all that ran in Karthik's mind.
"Seri ma when are you guys coming to Chennai?"
"We will visit you both soon. When Dad gets some time off work we promise we both will come and see our daughter-in-law, we are going to take her back with us for some days, we don't care if you both have work, but she's coming with us at least for a week. Me and her are going to spend a lot of time together, we can go shopping and do all sorts of things together. We also need to go speak to her family. We can all go together, you both let me know when you are free, but don't delay it Karthik."
Karthik left out a small laugh.
"Seri ma, we can all go together real soon."
"Once again happy birthday Karthik, we love you."
"Love you guys too. Take care...bye..."
Karthik put Raji's phone on the bed and left the room. He went to find Raji.
"Raji?"
He searched the entire downstairs but she was nowhere to be found. He decided to check upstairs and ran up the stairs. Raji was not upstairs either, so he decided to go up to the terrace. He saw Raji there taking clothes from the clothes line. He looked at his wife. Her hair was in front of her shoulder still wet from the shower. He went closer to her and hugged her from behind. Raji got slightly startled by the sudden touch but knew it was Karthik and smiled. He kissed her wet back and rested his chin on her shoulder.
"Thank you..." he whispered in her ear.
"Yetheke?" she asked.
"For talking to my parents...thanks Raji..."
"There's no need to thank me Karthik. They avoided you because of me so it was my responsibility to make sure they talk to you again..."
"They said you called last week itself..."
"I did...I first talked to your dad then he convinced your mother and she started talking to me also. I told her everything and I asked for forgiveness. She finally forgave me...it was my little surprise for you that's why I never told. I wanted this to be your birthday treat."
Karthik turned her around and took her face in his hands. He looked into her dark brown eyes which were full of innocence and love. He kissed her soft lips and hugged her tightly.
"Thanks Raji..."
"Seri seri...if we stay up here we are going to forget what I have planned for you. She said looking up at him in his arms."
"Enna athu?" He asked raising a brow.
"It's a surprise." She beamed like a child.
She put the rest of the clothes she had in the basket and carried the basket with both hands. Get ready quickly Karthik we have lots to do today!
"Where are we going?" He asked.
"I'll tell you one by one" she said and went downstairs.
Karthik smiled seeing his wife walk away. He went downstairs behind her.
"Karthik get ready quick we need to first go to the temple."
"Sure Raji." He said and grabbed his towel and went to the bathroom.
Coming out of the shower he saw a box on the bed. He opened it and found a dark navy blue shirt. He took the shirt out, smiled and put it on. After he was ready he came out only to be amazed more. Raji was standing in the hall looking at the poojai tray she had in her hand. He was mesmerized by her beauty. She was wearing a beautiful peach coloured saree. Her hair was left down but pulled back with a clip and she wore minimal accessories. Karthik came to her and gave her a smile. Raji looked at Karthik and raised her eyebrows. He shook her head and went straight to her cheek. He kissed her making her blush.
"You look so beautiful pondatti."
Raji let out a small giggle..."appriya..."
"Yes...I feel like eating you up right now..."
Raji blushed even more...
"Seri seri let's go...first to the temple then to the children's foundation."
Karthik got surprised hearing the children's foundation.
"How do you know I visit there every year for my birthday?"
"You told me remember the first time you took me there...that's why I decided that we need to go there today no matter what."
"Ooohhh seri, let's go then."
Both left the house and went on Karthik's bike. The weather was perfect outside, not too hot and sticky but an elegant breeze filled the air. They went to the temple and did a poojai for Karthik's. Raji thanked the gods for gifting her Karthik and prayed for his happiness and good life. Karthik was thankful for having Raji as his wife, the best thing that could ever happen.
Leaving the temple they went to the children's foundation. As they entered inside the large building they were welcomed with beautiful children coming to greet Karthik for his birthday. They had made cards and small gifts for him. Raji stood back with a big smile and watched as Karthik went to each kid and handed out treats Raji had bought. It was a beautiful sight seeing Karthik and Raji surrounded by all the kids. They took pictures together and sang happy birthday. Karthik was grateful for the beautiful relationships he had formed with the children. He went to talk with the director of the foundation and gave him the lunch they had bought for all the kids.
"I see you are very happy Karthik."
"Aamma sir. I'm feeling very happy...especially today."
"What's special about this birthday Karthik?"
Karthik turned sideways and looked at Raji. She was playing a game with the kids with her eyes blind folded. He looked at her childish nature and turned back to the director.
"Raji sir...it's Raji...she's the best thing that came into my life..."
"You're lucky to have such a caring wife Karthik. I can tell she loves you a lot. And she loves the kids here..."
"You're right sir. She loves coming here...and I am lucky to have her."
After chatting with everyone at the foundation it was time for Karthik and Raji to leave. He sees Raji playing with the kids still with her blindfold on. Raji not paying attention to where she was going was walking backwards and bumped into Karthik. She turned and took off her blindfold while some of the kids were giggling seeing both of them.
"Kutties thank you for the wishes and gifts, I hope everyone continues to study hard and be nice to each other here okay?"
The kids shouted okay and went to hug Karthik and Raji.
"They are adorable Karthik." Raji said as they were going back home.
Karthik and Raji went to Vishwanathan's house next. They got blessings from him and his wife then headed home. Karthik went to unlock the door but noticed that it was already unlocked. He turned and asked Raji
"Did you forget to lock the door?"
Raji gave a worried face "No I clearly remembered I locked it."
"Wait here Raji."
Karthik made sure Raji was a few feet away from the door then opened it.
"SURPRISE!" everyone inside shouted.
To Karthik's surprise he saw all his friends gathered in the hallway of their house. The house was decorated with streamers and lights ready for a party. The furniture was moved aside and was filled with Karthik and Raji's close friends. Vishnu came and hugged him.
"Happy birthday da..."
"Thanks Vishnu"
They both hugged each other.
Lakshmi came up from behind. "Happy birthday Karthik"
"Thank you Lakshmi."
"Here is something from me and my mom." She said giving Karthik a wrapped box.
"Thanks Lakshmi, please tell your mother I say thank you."
"Sure will do." She smiled.
As Karthik's friends wished him one by one, Raji was seeing this beautiful sight smiling. Lots of warmth and love filled the air.
"Aamaa how did you guys get inside the house?" Karthik asked.
"Raji gave us the spare key yesterday at work." Vishnu replied.
He looked at Raji who was smiling and gave him a wink.
"Thanks da Vishnu."
"Ok birthday boy needs to cut the cake." Lakshmi said.
They moved the table in front with the cake and Karthik stood behind it. Everyone sang as Karthik blew the candle and cut it. He gave a piece to Raji and Raji gave him a piece back. Next Vishnu gave a big piece of cake to his best friend and put some cake on his face. Overall the party went well. They ordered food for everyone and had a good time together. Karthik told Vishnu and Lakshmi about his parents calling him in the morning and they were very happy for the two of them. The friends helped Karthik and Raji move the furniture back then one by one they started to head home once again wishing Karthik. Raji thanked everyone for coming while Karthik spent a couple minutes talking to his friends catching up with them. They talked for a few minutes then Karthik said goodbye and headed back inside.
He closed the door and locked it then went to his room. Raji was standing in front of the mirror taking off her earrings. He went to her slowly and hugged her from behind and kissed her back. She was feeling warm as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
"I love you." He said in that attracting voice again.
Raji smiled seeing Karthik in the mirror.
"I love you too."
"You are the best wife anyone can ever have."
Raji let out a small giggle. "Hhmm...I don't know about that..." she said in an innocent sweet voice.
"Well you are the best for me. I can't believe you did all this for me. You went and talked to my parents despite everything that happened..."
Raji turned around and took his face in her hands and looked at him.
"I love you Karthik. I did all this because I love you..." she said looking directly into his eyes.
Karthik took Raji by the shoulders and kissed her. His hands went to her face and he cupped it. She had her eyes closed. He kissed her eyelids gently then her nose and soft cheeks. He dug his face into her neck. She arched her neck back allowing him to kiss her neck while having one hand behind his head and another on his shoulder. He took off her necklace and placed it on the dressing table. He took off her bangles next and kissed her hands. Moving up her right arm he sent her little kisses, his face heading up to meet hers. He was about to go for her lips. He got closer and closer and Raji closed her eyes again...
But their moment was interrupted by Karthik's cell phone.
Who is calling now? He wondered.
He ignored it at first but the ringing never stopped.
"Karthik your phone is ringing." Raji said her lips just a few centimetres away from his.
"Let's just ignore that" he said in a charming voice.
Raji smiled "But check who it is Karthik what if it's important?"
Karthik let out a small breath and smiled at his wife. She was right; it could be an important phone call or an emergency. He went to the dresser and saw the call display. It was someone from work so he decided to pick it up. Raji signalled to Karthik that she was going to the bathroom and Karthik nodded his head while speaking on the phone. The call lasted about ten minutes. He noticed that Raji was still in the bathroom, so he decided to freshen up and went to the bathroom upstairs. Fifteen minutes later, he came out wearing track pants and a polo shirt. He went to their room and saw that Raji was out of the bathroom. She was wrapped in a magenta towel that went just above her knees. Karthik admired his wife; her hair was clipped up with an alligator clip. He approached her and could see the little water bubbles on her back. The beautiful aroma of her cocoa Shea butter was filling his senses making him go crazy inside. She seemed to be looking for something in the room...
"Enna Raji what are you looking for?"
"I can't find the face wipes I bought...I thought I left them in the bathroom drawer...unless I put them upstairs...I don't know..." she said while looking for it.
Karthik decided to help her look for the box and searched in the long cupboard; he found the box in the bottom drawer underneath a few things and took it out.
"Raji it's here."
Raji turned around from where she was searching and saw the box in Karthik's hands.
"Thanks Karthik" she said walking towards him to get the box.
"Here let me help you..."
He took Raji to the bathroom and lifted her and made her sit on the counter. He first washed his hands quickly then opened the box and followed the instructions. He took a wipe and gently wiped her face. He started on the left side of her face and went in circular motions. Raji was surprised to see her husband knowing exactly what to do. She looked at him amazed. Karthik noticed her surprised look and raised his eyebrows as he was wiping off her face.
"Enna Raji..."
"Illai...I'm surprised that you know all this...how..."
Karthik stopped for a second and gave her a smile.
"Raji, I've seen you do this many times...of course I would know by now how to do it." He said giving a wink at her.
She gently gave him a punch making them both laugh, then she closed her eyes as he finished off with her face and put on some lotion for her face. As he put the lotion on he was able to smell a beautiful scent coming from her. He took a breath in and he felt like he was going wild inside with Raji sitting right in front of him in her towel. He finished with the lotion and washed his hands again. He looked at Raji who was looking up at him sitting on the bathroom counter. Her innocent eyes and smile were calling his name. He went to kiss her beautiful lips. He kissed her harder and Raji started to wrap her arms around his neck and her hands went through his hair. Karthik lifted Raji and she wrapped her legs around his waist. She felt a sudden jolt running through her body. They left the bathroom and he put her on the bed and gave her a naughty look. He went to make sure the windows were shut and turned on the air conditioner then went to close the bedroom door.
He went and kissed her again as one hand went to the back of her head and took off the clip holding her hair up. He let her hair fall down to her shoulders and went to nuzzle her neck while his hands pulled off her towel. Raji let out a small moan as Karthik made his way down her body with goodness. She watched him with so much love. She was happy to have made his birthday special. Karthik...her husband...his happiness was the most important thing to her. She took his head and gave his lips a soft kiss. She kissed his nose and went to take off his polo shirt.
Karthik's fingers decided to get naughty; he wanted to please his wife to the next level. His fingers slowly crept down her body and went between her thighs. He knew how sensitive she was and how to please her. Raji's eyes closed and her head hit the pillow arching her neck back. They communicated with each other using their bodies and made love fulfilling each other's desires. They understood one another and took equal roles in sharing their love. It was hot, it was passionate, it was two souls being together dancing to their own rhythm.
Karthik looked at Raji whose skin was shining from sweat. Her tan colour skin was glowing like sand under the sun. She was beautiful as she hit her climaxes filled with squirms, quivers, moans and quick breaths. Raji lay on the bed diagonally. She arched her neck back taking quick breaths. She had her eyes closed. As she was about to open her eyes she felt Karthik's lips on hers. She opened her eyes and saw Karthik's face upside down. He was standing on the floor behind Raji's head. He pushed his lips against her upside down and kissed, his upper lip taking a nibble of her lower lip. She felt his minty fresh breath in her mouth again. Their lips were moving in slow motion together. Karthik dominated Raji and his lips led the rhythm with Raji's lips following underneath. They continued to make love together. Their eyes met each other and showed the love they have for one another.
Raji rested her head on Karthik's torso and asked him
"Did you like your birthday?"
Karthik looked at Raji "Of course I did...thank you for everything..."
Raji lifted her lead from his torso and looked at him and smiled.
"What was your favourite part?"
A sly smile started to appear on Karthik's lips and she knew what he was going to say.
"You know what I mean Karthik...what was your favourite part?" She said blushing and trying to hide her smile.
"Talking to my parents after months, that was my favourite part. I can't believe you spoke to them...it really means a lot to me that you did that."
"I want you to always be like this Karthik, happy and loving." She said.
Raji put her head back on his torso and kissed it. She wrapped her right arm around him tightly and Karthik played with her hair.
"I love you Karthik..."
"I love you Raji..." he said pulling her closer to him and wrapped his arms around her. He kissed her forehead.
Both were tired from the many beautiful events this day had brought for them. They dozed off to sleep quickly in each other's embrace.
