Jodha has given Hussain to Ruqaiah although Akbar had objected

OK fine a mother has more say in a young child's life
But I want to know does a father have not have any right on the child?
I mean Jodha decided to give Hussain to Ruqaiah but where is the father's rights?
Ruqaiah is acting so possessive she is grabbing Hussain away from Jalal as if he is some souten
I have hardly seen Jalal spend any time with Hussain always Ruqaiah sticks to him
Even in 21st century a father and his family has more rights on the child in world
A child get father's name, a child inherits fathers property, a child inherits fathers title never a mothers
Even today when father does not accept a child as his own or its mother the child is treated as not wanted by society because a child's relation in world is linked with father. No one in world dare misbehave or treat a child badly who has a father in world.
and here in 16th century wives are arm twisting their husband over his own child. Is this ever possible?
Would real Akbar have tolerated his wives playing pinky ponky over his own child and refusing him rights over it. I mean a lower strata father shall not accept this how can an emperor who never bent before anyone other than God and may be his parents wishes?
Akbar's word was the law and final word not only in his empire but his family too. No wife would dare oppose or speak against that. I mean how else could Akbar order Salim and Jodha's son Khurram aka shah jahan to be given to Ruqaiah and not even Salim dared oppose it. Is it possible that khurram's parents would have handed their 6 day old baby without any anguish and pain? Never but still they dared not go and speak to Akbar that they refuse his orders. What does that show? Akbar was the ultimate law and his son and bahu also could not oppose his decision even if they felt like opposing. Its a different thing that Salim's kids stayed with their grandparents and were brought up by them rather than Salim as they stayed more in agra/Lahore than with Salim. Its similar to 21st century where husbands go on work and leave kids and wife with their parents in native place. So we cannot really say Akbar was wrong it was natural that when Salim went to wars, as governor in some region his kids and wives stayed with his parents usually.
And here its shown Akbar has no rights on his own son Hussain because of some farman he gave Ruqaiah. Even if Akbar gave a royal farman in real history an Ruqaiah shall not dare so NO to his wish. And forget begginging like this jalal Akbar would have just told and it would be done. What a mockery of a great emperor and his parental rights happening here?

It is possible because of that damn Farman. In those days, promises were regarded as sacred, they cannot be broken by people of repute.

The Farman has created this temporary imbalance of power. Even an Emperor can be held hostage by a promise if the person he is indebted to is of equal social standing, in this case a cousin and a Timurid princess.

Farman is a different thing. What I am saying is here a emperor is begging give his baby for few days and wife refuses. Real Akbar always gave his kids to other wives or his mother etc to bring up who dared oppose it? No one. Jalal is not asking Hussein permanently for few weeks may be or few hours a day to play with Jodha

All I am saying no one shall dare misuse an emperors farman or promise and ask something impossible from him too. They will be incurring his warth for life

I Accept your point that father has an equal right over the child as its mother and generally like you said it become a norm that father's family has more rights as our society is more of patriarchal. But here the pbm is not abt whose rights but about a given word.Unlike our 21 century at that time a given word is like divine oath and that's y our puranas insist that we should be always careful of what we say say. mabali even be a demon lost his life for a given word.So when Jalal has given ruq that Farman he is tied with it.Yet he went ahead and refused which show his deepset love for Jo and it is the very same reason y Jo accepted that in first place as Jalal refused but would have been equally shattered as he couldn't keep up his word. Here the one to be blamed is ruq as she twisted all the confidence Jalal had in her for her own selfish reason and demanded it.Now even Jalal couldn't do anything as he is legally bounded to fullfil it.
To sum it up the whole thing is not abt rights but abt a given word.Like great kings who had suffered like harichandra now Jalal is also suffering by his given word.
