I wasn't quite so sure about my opinion of Praneet so far, but I liked the way he conducted himself in today's task.
- He was always calm (although I'm not sure he was targeted as much as the others)
- The way he took care of Natasa was really sweet. It was so painful to watch her cry but even more endearing to see how protective he was.
- The fact that he did not get up to literally "take a stand," in my opinion, showed that he could see through what Tanna was doing.
Which brings me to Tanna. I agree that whatever she did was for the task (whether she derived sadistic pleasure from it is another issue), that Gautam should not have abused her, that her anger was justified.
But boy, did she stretch the issue!! Even after so much apologising, hugging, crying and whatnot, she kept on harping on the same tune, which made it quite clear that all she really wanted was that her team win the task, and she used the issue of swearing for that purpose. Hence, the importance of "disqualification." Which is going pretty low, I think, because that cheapens the whole "respect for women" agenda.
Because it became about women empowerment and all, the other housemates were forced to take a stand, even those who, in the beginning, did not seem to find it so outrageously wrong - eg Puneet Issar. And it all reeked of fakeness. As though they were scared that Salman would lecture them about it later.
The way everyone was ganging up on Gulati (my least favourite contestant) even after he had apologised so many times, made me feel sorry for him. And I liked the fact that Praneet did not participate in this over-zealousness, and neither did he downplay the seriousness of the issue. Sometimes it is better to sit on the fence so that one does not become a pawn for some twisted agenda. I liked that he went to sit with Gulati at the end of the episode after the latter had been alienated for that one moment of weakness and horrendous overacting. I feel that I would have done the same perhaps.
