Nitya's birthday is nowhere soon. It can be tomorrow but it can be six months later also. Why should he order a cake now ? Dayal said he will let Dev meet Nitya on her birthday. That doesn't mean Nitya's birthday is anytime soon.
He had some insticts that said he knew Durga but this Durga, the only daughter of rich and influntial Dr. Thakur is his childhood friend Nitya is something he cannot guess at all.
As for habits are concerned, Dayal made sure that Nitya should behave, talk, walk and do everything his daughter's way. Durga never behaves like Nitya now.
