Part 6

Seher's Room - Continued

"I can't just forget about it OK"?

"Why NOT for God Sake's"?

"Because I SLEPT with him!"

"WHAT? ...YOU WHAT"? Aahil was totally shocked. He just could not help his reaction.

"HOW"...?

At that Seher looked at Aahil squarely, and gave him a look that said "are you serious?"

"Yeh AAP mujse puch rahe hain...AAP? Joh sabse bada khiladi rehe chuke hain?"

At that Aahil gave her a similarly ironic look.

"I don't mean 'how' as in 'how', I mean how did all this happen'?"

"Well actually...we were always together those days. You know what they say...one thing led to another...the age old cliche?" said Seher, trying to be caustic. But one look at her face told Aahil that she was in pain.

"Yeah...I know what you mean", said Aahil with a sigh.

"Yeah...you should know. After all you were Sabse Ba..."

Aahil cut her off mid-sentence. "PLEASE not all that 'khiladi' crap again. I have not been that for years, and to be honest I can't remember half of it. I drank too much those days too. Also, there was nothing really spontaneous about my old flings. They were very calculated. The only reason I know about the 'one thing led to another cliche' as you call it, is because of your sister. Let's just say...when things progressed to that level between us, things were anything but perfect. But sometimes when you're in love, these things are inevitable".

"Well...I was in love. I don't know what he was. I thought he felt the same but..."

"What do you mean, you 'thought' he felt the same? He didn't say anything? I mean, how long did this go on for?"

"It didn't. It was just...it was...just one time". Seher said quickly. She was not quite meeting Aahil's gaze.

"What? Oh God"...said Aahil running a hand through his hair..."this is so much worse than I thought? You had a 'one night stand' with Rehan?"

"It was not a 'One night stand' said Seher indignantly. "It was during the day".

"OH...GOD...T.M.I...Seher! I DIDN'T need to know that! Don't you EVER censor yourself?? Geeze..." said Aahil in exasperation.

"Well you called it a 'One Night Stand' and I just wanted to clarify that it wasn't"! said Seher angrily.

"Ok. Ok. We have established it is not a 'One NIGHT stand'. It's the 'stand' part that concerns me Seher, not the time of day?? I am struggling with this coz, this is just SO NOT Rehan"!

"Are you suggesting that it is ME then? I know I used to be a con, but I did have standards...Rehan was the only guy..."

"SEHER"...said Aahil, cutting her off mid sentence. "I KNOW it's not you OK? I am not even remotely suggesting such a thing. All I am saying is that, I have know Rehan most of his life, and this sort of a 'one off' type business is not his thing. I know you said you were in love with him? I am assuming that he had REAL feelings for you too? Because if he didn't, I don't think he would ever have taken things this far?"

"Maybe Jeej...but maybe he gave into a moment of weakness? I mean, just because I was in love with him, that dosent mean he felt the same too? Maybe he was just attracted to me? After all, I look just like Api...I know he used to like her and..." She trailed off, unable to finish the sentence.

"Seher...I don't think Rehan would stoop to that level. I really don't. Say it or not, he must have felt something for you beyond attraction."

"This was never supposed to happen anyway. I was upset that day. I was crying about Ammi and Abbu, and he was trying to comfort me. Things just got out of hand" said Seher, putting her palms on her cheeks. "I guess I was weak. I loved him, and I couldn't stop myself. I should never have trusted him. I was such a fool"!

"Seher...knowing what I know about Rehan, I still think that he would never have meant to lead you on. But what I don't understand is...WHY didn't you guys discuss things? Why didn't you talk after what happened and clarify where you stood?"

"There was never any time for that. Rehan did say that we need to talk. We never got a chance to though, coz I got a call from Razia begum. She said that everything was in place to go after Tanveer. I panicked that she was going to play one of her games. I had to let Badi Ammi know, coz by then we had all the evidence we needed to get Tanveer arrested. I had to call Badi Ammi and tell her that she needed to get Rahat in with the police that evening, and not the next day, like we had planned. I could not risk Razia Bi doing something before Badi Ammi and I could. So I made an excuse to Rehan that I had something urgent to attend to with Badi Ammi, and that we will talk later. But before we ever could, the truth about who his Mother was came out".

"It cant have been easy for you, finding out the way that you did".

"No. I had never felt so betrayed in my life. So violated. Of course after Tanveer was arrested, Rehan tried to explain, he said he was going to tell me. But I was just not in the mood to listen. I didn't want to know. I just felt so let down. I was also just plain confused. He was the son of the women that killed my family. HOW can I love him? I felt disgusted with myself".

"We don't CHOOSE who we love, anymore than we choose who are parents are. You cant blame yourself coz you fell in love with Rehan. You didn't know who his Mother was, and frankly, even if you did, that dosent mean you have to blame yourself for loving him. HE is not like HER. I hope you know that?"

"I know. But at the time, I could never see past it. Also, what got me was the fact that he didn't tell me. More than who his Mother was. I felt like I shared myself with a man that didn't have the decency to be honest with me".

"I understand your sense of betrayal Seher. I felt terribly betrayed too. But somewhere, I also knew that he must have been stuck between a rock and a hard place. We feel a sense of loyalty to our parents, even when they don't deserve it. Maybe that is why, I could never totally hate her. I hate what she did, to me, and to Rehan. I hate what she did to your family. I hate her as a person. But there is a tiny part of me, that saw a Mother in her, for all the years she had acted as one to me. THAT was the part that grieved for her when she died. That is the part that may have made Rehan feel like he owed her some loyalty? It's a very complicated issue Seher. I think, you do need to cut Rehan some slack. I truly believe he must have wanted to tell you. But things moved too fast, and he was just not able to"?

"The logical part of me knows that may be true, but the emotional part of me only saw the pain he caused me. But if he DID have feelings for me as you say Jeej...WHY didn't he try to contact me for the past 3 years? WHY has he barely looked at me since I came back?"

"Maybe for the same reasons, that YOU never contacted him? You have to admit, you have been giving him the cold shoulder since you got back? He must feel guilty for what his Mother did, so he is trying to stay out of your way"?

"Even if what you say is true, he has moved on anyway. I know he has a girlfriend".

"Sonia Seth. She works for our company, and NO she is not a bimbette, fembot'," said Aahil with a smile.

"So that means he must really like her? So why are we even talking about this? Whatever he may or may not have felt for me in the past, I doubt he feels anything for me now".

"Look Seher...whatever the situation was or used to be, you guys work together now. So you really do need to reign in your personal feelings. Why don't you 'talk' to him? Why don't you have the talk you guys should have had 3 years ago? It's never too late to clarify things"?

"What's the point Jeej? I don't want to have a 'post mortem' 3 years in the making. I just want to forget it ever happened. WHY would I want to discuss the biggest mistake of my life"?

"If that's how you feel" said Aahil wisely. He realised that Seher was way too emotional about the subject to think rationally about it. There was no point pushing her. SHE had to come to the realisation that she and Rehan have to talk on her own. He telling her won't do any good.

"I think I better get going now. Sanam will be wondering where I am"? Aahil had been leaning on the edge of Seher's computer table, and he pushed himself off to leave. As he turned towards the door, Seher's voice stopped him.

"Jeej..."?

"Yes"? Said Aahil turning around.

"Please don't...I mean, can you not...tell Api"?

Aahil clenched his fist and pursed his lips.

"Seher...I really don't like to keep things from my wife...BUT, this is your secret to tell. So I won't say anything. But I think, you SHOULD tell her. Because, she has already guessed that there is something about this whole situation with Rehan that you haven't told her. So if you DO confide in her, I am sure she will be very happy".

"I just don't want to stress her out. I mean...she's pregnant and...I'll try to get along with Rehan more. Even if it's just to put Api's mind at ease".

"Thanks Seher. But I still think you should tell her. I know I coddle her a lot, because she's pregnant, but I know she is a lot stronger than she looks. So I'm sure she can take it. But again...it's your choice. Goodnight".

"Goodnight Jeej... And thanks for listening. You don't know how good it feels, now that I have told someone. Thanks again".

"Anytime", said Aahil with a smile and walked out the door, closing it behind him.

As Aahil left Seher's room, he felt like he finally had clarity on the whole issue of Rehan and Seher. So he had assumed right? They HAD been involved? Just how much he had not known. But he did realise that this meant he was in a very tight spot too. His brother and his sister in law had been lovers. Even if briefly, they had a history. Judging from what he had seen from both ends since Seher came back, this was far from over. Rehan still felt something for her. He was damned certain of it. He knew that Sonia was in his life. But sometimes, you just can't control your heart. Rehan obviously had strong feelings for her once, and things had ended abruptly between them even before it had truly begun. What happened between them in the heat of the moment, probably added to the misunderstandings between them? Especially from Seher's side. He didn't blame her. But he knew Rehan, and he knew he would never use Seher. Rehan was a gentleman. He would bet his bottom dollar on that.

But where did it leave things? No matter what Seher said, and what bravado she showed, she still felt something for Rehan too. That is why she had overreacted the way that she had when she thought he was undermining her. He surely had to do something? He had to get them to talk. Maybe he will find a situation where they will be forced to spend some time together and maybe then, they will finally talk? He should watch out for an opportunity, thought Aahil, as he went into his room.

"Aahil...? Where were you all this time"? said Sanam who was sitting on the bed reading a book on pregnancy.

"Had some business issue to discuss with Seher baby."

"Eveything OK?"

"Yeah...Yeah... "..said Aahil, going to the coffee table and fiddling with his laptop, so he didn't have to quite look at Sanam. He hated not being honest with her, and she always caught him out if he ever tried to hide something from her".

"It's just some work stuff baby. Seher just started today, so I had a few things I wanted to discuss with her. Nothing major. Don't worry", he said staring at the computer screen.

Sanam gave Aahil a thoughtful look. She got the feeling there was a bit more to it. She could read him very well after nearly 4 years of marriage. Maybe Seher had some sort of bust up with Rehan? She assumed correctly. Wisely she didn't question him further.

"Ok. But Jaan, come to bed, it's getting late. You should get some sleep".

"In a minute baby" said Aahil who quickly checked his e-mail, and shut down the computer, and went towards the bed. He got into bed and moved close to Sanam. She was looking at her book.

"Hey...that's a really good book".

"You've read it?" said Sanam surprised.

"Yeah...I've read it, and maybe another 5 books just like it. Where do you think I get all those helpful tips I give you from"? said Aahil with a grin.

"Where indeed"? said Sanam, returning his smile.

1 week later - Haya and Faiz's House

It was Haya and Faiz's daughter Najma's first birthday. Everyone was at their place, old Khan Villa, celebrating. A lot of Faiz's friends from his TV show were there. Faiz was now working on TV and he had had some good breaks. Luckily for him, the current show he was on was being shot in Bhopal. But Faiz and Haya had spent time on and off in Mumbai as well, during the time he was mostly working there. Seher watched them with their little girl and smiled. They looked so happy. Badi Ammi was most thrilled. She was finally a great grandmother, and now soon, she will have one more great grandchild to add to her brood. Just as well her other two granddaughters were married and willing to provide Badi Ammi with offspring. If it had been up to her, she wondered if Badi Ammi would ever get that happiness in her life?

She looked at her sister who was sitting near Faiz and Haya, and also playing with the baby. Aahil was standing close by and watching her indulgently. It seemed that her sister and cousin were so happy and settled in their lives. Not that she envied them or anything. But somehow she didn't know if any of this would be possible for her? She had only ever given her heart, and herself once, and that had turned out to be a total disaster. So much so that even today, she was not quite able to totally move past it. Looking at her, who could tell that she was thinking all this? She always came across so confident and so devil may care. But that was part of her front. Yes she was outspoken, but that didn't mean that she felt less pain than other people. She just hardly showed the emotional side of herself to anyone. In that way, she knew she was more like her Father. He too had been very reserved about showing his feelings. (This is what Nikhat bua and Ayaan Chachu had told her). But he did feel very deeply nonetheless. Maybe more than any of them? But he had always been strong and confident, and always acted like he was in control. Even when inside he was falling apart. She knew that many people thought she was a lot like her Mother, but in this sense, she was just like her Father. She was thankful to him for this trait. She didn't think she could stand people knowing just how emotional she really was. She tried to shake herself off from these thoughts.

Just then someone walked into the group with a huge wrapped gift with a massive pink bow on it. It was Rehan. Seher quickly schooled her expression. Ever since she had confided in Aahil, she made sure she played as cool as possible in front of Rehan. Especially in Aahil's company. She had told Aahil that she just wanted to forget that whole chapter of her life. She wanted to make sure Aahil didn't question her about it again. So she had made extra effort at work as well. She only spent time with Rehan when absolutely needed. The rest of the time, she left him with his little 'fembotte' Shalini. So far this week she had managed to stay well clear of any trouble, and she intended to keep it that way.

"Bhaijaan...finally you are here! We were waiting on you to cut the cake", said Haya.

"Sorry Haya, this land deal had to be finalised today. It's been in the works for weeks. I had no choice. Sorry. I got out of there as soon as I possibly could" said Rehan apologetically.

He gave the massive wrapped gift to Faiz, and he placed it among the now growing pile of gifts for Najma. Rehan then came forward and picked up little Najma, and planted a kiss on her cheek.

"Happy birthday Baby" he said, smiling. The little girl put her arms around his neck and hugged him.

"Ma..ma..." she said.

"See...see, she said 'Mama'!" said Rehan in an excited tone.

"I think she said 'Mumma' Rehan, not 'Mama'!" said a laughing Aahil.

"Whatever...Aahil bhai! She said 'Mama' OK?"

Everyone laughed and Aahil shook his head. "At least with our kid there won't be any confusion between 'Mumma' and 'Chacha'!" Aahil laughed.

Seher watched Rehan with Najma, and he seemed so natural with the little girl. "He will probably make a very good Dad" she thought. She didn't want to keep looking at them, but something about Rehan and the baby just kept her eyes glued to the scene in front of her. Suddenly as if feeling a pair of eyes on him, Rehan looked up. His eyes met Seher's. For a moment their gaze held and it was Seher who quickly looked away. She took a deep breath to calm herself. How she wished she could just walk out of here right now. Suddenly this place was feeling so stifling.

Aahil had been looking at Seher on and off since Rehan came in, and he had noticed how she was reacting to the scene before her. Obvisouly seeing Rehan playing with a little kid was effecting Seher. He had tried to be as subtle as possible so she wont realise that he was watching her. He had noticed that in the past week, Seher had been very civil with Rehan. She had gone out of her way to behave as professionally as she could at work. But despite all this, he could tell she was hurting and her pain for difficult for Aahil to witness. Despite Rehan's reserved and calm demeanour, Aahil could tell that whenever Seher was around, he was disturbed. He had known Rehan most of his life, and he could see through his facade. He had to do something. These two had to talk. They should discuss their past, or else there wont be any resolution to the pain they were both in.

The party carried on for the next two hours and people were slowly starting to leave. Soon only the family were left. Everyone was sitting around chatting. Najma had gone to bed. She had been totally hyped on her birthday cake and all the excitement. Badi Ammi also decided that it was time for her to retire for the night. "I am too old to stay up so late" she said smiling.

"Come on Badi Ammi, your still hot and you don't look a day older than 50!" Said Seher teasingly.

"Badmash..." Said Dilshaad. "When you say things like that, you remind me of Zoya so much"! She said with a smile. "Your Mother was like a ray of sunshine, and a hurricane, rolled into one. Kya ladki thi woh? Mere Asad se bilkul Alag, Lekin uske liye har thara se perfect! I remember a time when this house was filled with the sound of her laughter and she made my Asad smile"! She said nostalgically.

"Seher... Tume bhi tumhari Abbu Ki thara sulja huwa Ladaka hi suit Karega".

"Muje"?

"Ha...tumhe. Kyun Tum zindagi bar kuwari rahungi Kya? Kabhi Na khabi Nikaah to karana padega Na"?

"Main aur Nikah?? Not possible Badi Ammi. Main Ayse hi Maast Hun. I don't want any Nikah wikah"!

"Ab Tum Ayse kehe rahi ho. Lekin jab tume Pyaar hojayegi Na... Jab Tum khud hi Nikah Ke liye thayaar hojayegi".

Seher went pale. "Pyaar? Na main Nikah main beleive karthi hu, aur Nahin Pyaar main".

Suddenly Seher realised that all eyes were on her. Maybe her tone of voice alerted everyone to the serious nature of her statement. Sanam frowned as she watched her, and Aahil was looking at her intently too. Even Badi Ammi looked a bit stressed. She didn't even look at Rehan.

"Come on guys. Don't look so serious! All this Pyaar and Nikah stuff is just too heavy for me. No offence to all you guys who are in love and married"! She said quickly, so as to defuse the situation.

"Well I am going to bed now. Goonight kids"'said Dilshaad who turned and walked away towards her room.

After hearing what Seher had said, Aahil was now completely certain that some sort of discussion about their past was very necessary between Seher and Rehan. They had to be forced to spend some time together without interruption in a setting where neither can get away. What could be better than being forced to ride in the same car? He was going to have to get Seher and Rehan to drive home together. Seher had come with him and Sanam. How was he going to get them to leave together without her coming with them? Well he was Aahil Raza Ibrahim and he always had a plan.

"All this talk of love and Nikah has reminded me that it's been ages since I took my wife for a long drive. Why don't we go for one now baby"? He said looking at Sanam.

"Really? You want to take me on a long drive? At night? Wow. I can't beleive this? Usually you try to stop me from even going out at night these days"? Said a confused Sanam.

"Your really killing the mood here baby, come on, we are already out anyway, so why not take the long way home"? Said Aahil smiling.

"Fine" shrugged Sanam.

"Oh... Um Seher, is it ok with you? I know you rode here with us...but it's been ages since Sanam and I went anywhere alone and..."

"Of course Jeej... Don't be silly. I'm a big girl. I'll take a cab home".

"A cab? Why on earth would you take a cab when Rehan is going home to the same house as you? You can drive Seher home right Rehan"? Said Aahil quickly before either of them can protest.

"Of course Aahil bhai" said Rehan.

"But Jeej..."

"Come on Seher. Rehan will drop you. I know no one wants to spend extra time with their boss, but I'm sure you can handle his company for a bit longer"?

"Sure Jeej...Jaisa Aap kahe" said Seher through gritted teeth.

"Thanks Sali Sahiba. I owe you one".

"I'll remember that" said Seher with a mock sweet smile at Aahil.

"Let's go Sanam. We don't want to be out too late".

"Ok. We'll see you guys at home then" said Sanam as she and Aahil left the place.

"Look Rehan. If you want to stay here longer you can. Now that Api and Jeej have left, I can easily call a cab. I was thinking of going into town anyway."

"It's fine Seher. I've had a long day, and I don't want to stay much longer. So we can leave now if you want. If you want to go into town that's fine. I'll come with you".

"There is no need for your to go out of your way for me...I..."

Rehan cut her off mid sentence. "No need to be so formal Seher. We are not at work. I'll take you. Let's go".

They said their goodbyes to Faiz and Haya and left the place as well. As they sat in Rehan's car, Seher suddenly realised that this may have been Aahil's ploy to get her to be alone with Rehan. Even though he had not said anything to her in the past week, he HAD told her that night that she should talk to Rehan. She felt highly irritated at Aahil. WHY did he have to butt into this??

As Rehan started to drive, she decided that silence between them would be too loaded. So she decided to ask something about the land deal. He said that everything went well, and soon the conversation was over and silence started to prevail again.

"Let's turn on the radio shall we"? Said Seher.

"Yes. I remember how much you like to listen to music in the car"! Said Rehan involuntarily.

Seher said nothing, and Rehan quickly looked back at the road. Seher turned on the radio. A song started to fill the silence between them.

*"Yeh Dooriyan...In Raahon Ki Dooriyan...Nigahon Ki Dooriyan...Hum Rahon Ki Dooriyan...Fanah Ho Sabhi Dooriyan..."
This song was one of Seher's favourites. The soothing sound of the music filled the car, but suddenly the sentiments expressed in the song was not giving Seher any warm fuzzie's.

"Kaha Bhi Na Mene... Nahi Jeena Mene ...Tu Jo Na Mila...Tujhe Bhule Se Bhi ...Bola Na Main Yeh bhi Chahun Fasla ...Bas Fasla Rahein...Ban Ke Kasak Jo Kahen...Ho Aur Chahat Yeh Aur Jawan"

As the song continued to play, Seher felt like the atmosphere in the car was becoming stifling. The lyrics of the song were just too painful for her to listen to. She gave a quick glance at Rehan and realised that he was looking at her too. Their gaze met and held for a minute.

"Tera Mujhe Kar Jaati Hai Dooriyan...Satati Hain Dooriyan...Tarsati Hain Dooriyan...Fanah Ho Sabhi Dooriyan"

Seher looked away first, and stared out the car window. Her eyes were stinging with tears.

"Kyun Koi Paas Hai...Door Hai Kyun Koi...Jaane Na Koi Yahan Pe...Aa Raha Paas Ya Door Mein Ja Raha ...Janu Na Mein Hoon Kahan Pe...Yeh Dooriyan...In Raahon Ki Dooriyan...Nigahon Ki Dooriyan...Hum Rahon Ki Dooriyan...Fanah Ho Sabhi Dooriyan..."

"Rehan. Stop the car".

"What"?

"Stop the car Rehan".

"Seher..."

"Just stop the car Rehan. Stop it". She said in a harsh voice.

Rehan pulled over to the side of the road and stopped the car. They were in the city now, and fortunately there was some parking in the area they were in. As soon as the car came to a stop, Seher unlatched her seat belt and her hand went towards the door handle. Just as she was about to open the door, Rehan caught her hand in his.

"What are you doing? Where are you going"?

"I just want to get out of this car. Just let me go."

"Seher don't be crazy. You can't just take off in the middle of the city".

"Yes I can. We are not in some isolated street. We are in the middle of town. I told you I wanted to come into the city anyway. It's Saturday night Rehan. The place is full of people".

"Yes but this is not London Seher, or Mumbai. You can't just take off alone".

"Yes I can. I'm a big girl Rehan. I can look after myself. I want to be alone. Just leave me alone", she said prying her hand away from his and opening the car door. She got out on the curb and just continued to walk towards the many restaurants and clubs in that area without looking back. Rehan gazed at her walking away, and his throat constricted. He knew that she had been efftected by hearing that song too. He recalled her once telling him it was one of her favourites. He watched her disappear into one of the clubs and got out of the car. Whatever she said, he could not leave her here on her own. He walked to the club and started to look for her.

He spotted her getting a drink at the bar. It looked like she was having a cocktail. He walked towards her.

"Seher. What are you doing"?

"I'm having a drink Rehan. Can't you see that"?

"Is that alcohol"?

"Yes Rehan, it's alcohol". She said sarcastically.

"Seher... Do you think it's a good idea for you to drink that"?

"Oh please...don't go all 'moral police' on me Rehan. I have had cocktails before. If you have forgotten, I lived on my own in Mumbai for a few years and I've been living in London for the past three. I'm not some wallflower that needs to be rescued. So please just leave me alone".

Rehan closed his eyes and balled his fists. He walked up to the bar and gestured to the waiter. He asked for a coke and he brought it to him. As he started to sip his drink he looked up to see that Seher had pretty much already finished her whole drink. She called the waiter and ordered another. She drank almost half of it in one go, and he was about to say something to her, when he saw a guy approach Seher.

"Hey beautiful... Wanna dance"? The guy said. He was a tall good looking guy, who was pretty well dressed. Seher took a look at him and smiled. She was feeling a bit tipsy by now.

"Sure" she said getting up off the bar stool she was on. The guy put his hand out to Seher. Rehan also got up and as she was about to put her hand in his, he stepped in front of Seher.

"I don't think she wants to dance", said Rehan.

"Hey man... I thought I heard the lady say yes. Who are you anyway? Her boyfriend"?

"No he's not my boyfriend. He's just trying to spoil my fun. I want to dance. Let's go" said Seher, stepping from around Rehan and towards the guy.

"I'm Ronit by the way" said the guy, extending his hand towards Seher.

Seher took his hand. "Seher".

"Shall we go Seher"?

"Sure"...she said and was about to step away with him, when she stopped. "I have something I need to do Ronit".

"What"?

"Finish my drink", said Seher. She picked up the drink on the counter and finished it in one gulp. "NOW we can go"! She said, as she placed the drink back on the counter. She gave Rehan a difiant look over her shoulder as she took Ronit's hand and walked towards the dance floor.

Rehan watched her go with a set jaw, and balled fists. "This girl is just impossible" he said under his breath. He watched her as she danced with that guy Ronit. Suddenly a slow song started to play and she put her arms around his neck and that Ronit guy put his hands on her waist, and they were swaying to the music. Rehan could not watch anymore. He felt a red haze cloud his eyes at what he saw. "How dare that guy touch Seher"?. Involountarily his feet moved forward and he went up to where Seher was dancing with Ronit.

He tapped Ronit on the shoulder.

"May I cut in"?

"No you may not" said Seher.

"Look baby, your little game has gone on long enough. You had your revenge. Now let's go home".

"I'm not your baby, and I wont go anywhere with you" said Seher and her speech was slightly slurred.

"Look man, I apologise. My WIFE had an argument with me, and this is her way of getting back at me. I'm sorry", said Rehan, pretending to be apologetic.

"I'm not his wife" said Seher angrily.

"Sure sweetheart. Next you will say that we don't have a 2 year old kid at home".

"We DONT".

At this point, Ronit had let go of Seher and stepped away, he turned to leave.

"Hey Ronit, where are you going"?

"Sorry Seher. You should not have used me to get back at your husband".

"But he's NOT..." said Seher exasperatedly. Ronit was leaving and and she whispered "my husband".

At this point Rehan put his arm around Seher's waist and was guiding her out of the dancing throng.

"Get away from me Rehan. I don't want to go with you".

Seher tried to move out of his arms and in that minute someone bumped into her and she was pushed further towards Rehan. As she stublmed forward, both Rehan's arms went around her waist to steady her and she was pressed flush against him. She looked up at the same time as Rehan looked down and their eyes met. Her eyes moved to his lips and then back to his eyes. She leaned forward a bit more and closed her eyes, as if in anticipation. Rehan looked down at her, and took a deep breath. She was tipsy and didn't know what she was doing. He was not the sort of guy who took advantage of an inebriated girl. No matter how tempted he was. And he WAS tempted. All he had to do was bend his head one fraction and their lips would meet. But he couldn't. Because she was not in her senses right now. He closed his eyes and lifted one of the hands that was around her waist and ran the knuckle of his index finger down her cheek. Seher sighed at the caress and opened her eyes slowly.

"Rehan" she whispered looking at him. Rehan looked at her and his breath hitched. She was so beautiful and she was looking at him like she wanted nothing more than to be in his arms. If ONLY he could act in his feelings? But he could not.

"Seher... We have to go" he murmured.

At his words, it seemed like she suddenly came to her senses for a minute. She stared at him for a moment and then her eyes filled with tears and she pushed Rehan away from her, and started to push her way through the crowd.

"Seher... Seher..."

Called out Rehan but she would not stop. As she cleared the crowd on the dance floor, she started to run towards the door. She soon stepped out of the club and into the curb. She saw a taxi stand just meters away and ran towards it. She got into the first cab parked on the stand and gave them her address. Rehan came running out of the club and saw Seher get into a cab. As he ran towards the cab, it started to pull away. Rehan ran towards his car and got into it. He followed the cab all the way home.

To be continued...

Hi all,

So that was part 6. I have been sick lately, and not even fully recovered yet. But found the time to write this chapter. I will get another update done as soon as I can again. But part 7 will be coming sooner than this part did I hope!

As always leave your comments!

Thanks!

Mandy

Wonderful update dear
As you said it was not planned between Rehan & seher.
It was an emotional moment were they both given in, obviously because they loved each other.
As seher said the timings went wrong for both them. Before they could start they had to end it abruptly. As ahil said they need to talk & sort it out.
To an extent seher knows if they talk she only once again gives in to him. May be that's why her denial cones. She is pakka asad when it comes to emotions. Acts so strong & tough outside but totally vulnerable inside.
She is totally in a confused state. She loves Rehan. But tanveer's truth stuck her. She had to stay away from only because of that.
Bar scene was totally lovely. As Rehan said she is just impossible. But that's what make her special.
Dilu reminding of asya was so emotional.

Thanks! Yes their relationship is very complicated. But Seher is still in love with him and Rehan with her. That is the sad part. They didn't end because it was what they wanted. It just happened that way. Things came between them.

I wanted to have Dilshad talk of ASYA coz she was the one who observed their love story closest. She also knows that because Seher is a lot like Zoya is many ways, a calm and collected guy is best for her. Rehan fits the bill perfectly, coz he is very stable. Seher needs that.

I will try and update the next part soon, coz believe it or not, even I want to know what happens next. Sometimes even I don't know till I start to write it. I have ideas, but they sort of become real when I start to write them down! :)
