This Bengali period love story revolves around a lonely housewife who falls in love with her husband's cousin (devar) and that creates problems in her marital life.

I think Charu can only be played by Aishwarya or Vidya but Vidya is now a gone case who looks moti aunty. She would not suit the role now. The perfect Charu would be Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Fawad Khan is perfect for the role of Amal who shares a bond with his bhabi Charu. This role needs an extremely handsome actor who can match up with the beauty of Charu. Who else can play Charu other than Aishwarya? 😳

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has the copyright to remake Charuata. He should direct this film instead of Bajirao Mastani.

Charulata tells the story of a lonely housewife, known as Charu (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who lives a wealthy, secluded and idle life in 1870's Calcutta. Her husband, Bhupati (Irrfan Khan), runs a newspaper, The Sentinel, and spends a lot more time at work than with his wife. However, he notices that Charu is lonely, and asks his cousin, Amal (Fawad Khan), to keep her company. Amal is a writer and is asked to help Charu with her own writing. However, after some time, Charu and Amal's feelings for each other move beyond those of a mentoring relationship as Charu begins a latent sexual attraction towards Amal. Amal is unwilling to betray his cousin's trust that has already suffered at the hands of Charu's swindling brother, Umapada. He abruptly leaves, and after Charu hysterically submits to her disappointment in the presence of Bhupati, there is nothing left but for the forsaken woman and her humiliated husband to forge a contrived reconciliation.

Its a Satyajit Ray film and sorry to say no one and I mean no one has the ability to recreate the gems of him in Bollywood or for that matter in any industry of the country. The story is based on Tagore syory, so a big no. BR]
So spare Ray's work please. His films not even be mentioned at the expense of bashing, mocking your true love Fawad khan.

If you cant spare the pakistani actor, atleast spare the bengali genius creators which include Ray and Tagore. It offends me being a bengali and that too who is proud of the cultural history of the place.

So what if its a Satyajit film? Aishwarya is perfect for Charu's role and nobody from current bollywood actors can play Amal. Fawad Khan can play it. Its a Bhansali type film. So I think Sanjay Leela Bhansali can make a nice remake of it. He has the copyright.

Ray was a genius filmmaker and storyteller, an oscar winner filmmaker from India and its my personal opinion that his fillms should be spared to be remade as bollywood flicks. Sanjay leela Bhansali may be a great filmmaker but he is not Ray and no he cannot recreate charulata.

Regarding Fawad playing Amal, its pointless to discuss as I do not want to argue knowing your obcession with the actor and wish of getting him bashed. No comments on that.

I think it would be a great concept, but Fawad is to young for Aishwarya. I prefer someone more mature for her.
