The last quarter has it all to with business down on last year in the first three quarters. So far the cumulative box office nett for 2014 is 1775 crore in the first three quarters with two weeks left of the quarter. Last year the total was 1975 after three quarters. There was 142 releases last year and this year has seen 134 releases but it will be similar release count by the end of the month.
The gap is a huge 200 crore between this year and last year but Daawat E Ishq and Khoobsurat plus the releases next week will bring this gap down a little so business will be 5-7% down year on year.
There are big releases in the last three months and business in the Oct-Dec period will have to be 950 crore if the business is to match last year. This is possible but there is little possibility of any major growth year on year which means a flat year at best.
