Does a high profile relationship help a star's career?

Sonam stated on the anupam Kher show that those in high profile relationships do get alot of publicity and a "LIFT" from all the news. Arjun denied this and said it is only your work that counts and even if you are in a relationship with a famous person it can only help to a certain extent.

What do you think?? Some examples

1. Katrina - Her last movie was dhoom but has constantly been in the news due to her relationship with ranbir and so called affair with Hrithik.

2. Deepika - Yes she has had the films to back it up. But she has been in the news for her relationships right from the beginning and I feel it HAS helped her to a large extent - Ranbir, Siddharth Mallya, Ranveer Singh etc

3. Priyanka - She is on the other end of the spectrum. Her link up with SRK almost ruined her career😛

4. Anushka Sharma - Hasn't had a release for almost 2 years. She seems like the type to let her work speak for her but she has also been thrust into the limelight due to her relationship with Virat Kohli. It has brought her as much publicity as a big film would have.

5. Rani Chopra, Kareena Khan and Aishwarya Bachchan will always be relevant and in the news even if they aren't doing films because of the people they have married.

Being with a famous person also makes you appear more desirable to the general public *flashback of simi's show*😆

Having high profile relationships, giving outrageous statements all help to stay in the news. Ofcourse you need more than just that to have successful career.

Sonam is right but not completely. Oh god why does she have to indirectly judge other actresses all the time. 😆

Dating a top star means automatic free press. Works for male and female both.

Hey TM let us not forget Salman bhai. He lifted a lot of careers including Katrina's before Kat lifted RK's. It work both ways. If the female star is equally popular or more popular than the guy she is dating gets a lift as well. Ranbir also benefitted by dating India's top female star Kat.

Who cares about Harman? But dude is talked about for her association with Bipasha and previously for Priyanka.

Same goes for Ranveer. One of the biggest reasons, of him pitted against RK by media is because of his link with Deepika. In terms of movie related success he is not ahead of Arjun or Siddharth.

Aishwarya-Salman and Saif-Kareena relationship did not help their careers. It also depends on the kind of relationship and if its semi-covered, covered or uncovered. Saif-Kareena were open about their relationship therefore public lost interest in them.

A semi-covered like Ranbir-Kat, Ranveer-Deepika, Aalia-Arjun/Varun, Sallu-Jaq/Elli/whoever generates more interest. They deny their relationship but they'll be spotted together in parties, events, cars, holidays etc. Public keep guessing, media keeps writing.

It helps to stay in the news.

But don't think it makes any difference in BO. Harman and PC were dating during Love Story 2050 still the movie tanked badly. Ditto with other stars bad movies.
