Emotional Tug-of-War
Emotional communication is a peculiarly complex interactive process between individuals and groups of individuals.
In this particular junction of the serial, it involves multiple characters with different desires and goals. Each character is, subtly or not so subtly, communicating his/her emotional state and is deliberately trying to manipulate the other's emotions through interaction.
The effectiveness of communication here is revolving around Rhea - and her perception of Veer. As I watched today's episode, my mind conjectured an emotional tug of war (also known as rope pulling).
In tug of war, two teams are competing against each other. A team wins the competition by pulling the other team towards it. Successful teams utilize physical strength, mental strength and coordination.
Here the CVs are showing an emotional tug of war. This game is being played at two levels.
On one level we have Pakhi who is going to work at enticing Rhea to understand and accept Veer. She is going to pull her by uprooting those mental blocks and emotional obstacles that Rhea has built against Veer. As Veer mentioned in the pre-cap, Rhea is not going to give even an inch easily, she will put up a tough fight and work to get Pakhi on her side (by which I mean against Veer).
The second level is very intricate or complex. Here we have the influence of Lavanya and Anuja on one hand and that of Girish on the opposite camp. There is whole new emotional dimension added at this level of the game. Rhea convinces Lavanya and Anuja that she will make each day unbearable for PakhVeer, and both you and I know that Lavanya-Anuja team will multiply Rhea's efforts a hundredfold.
However, Girish is on PakhVeer's side. Rhea has a teenage crush on Girish and is willing to do anything to earn his respect and love. Lavanya is unaware that Rhea has a crush on Girish (neither is Girish aware that Rhea has a crush on him). Girish is currently happy with Rhea because she honestly admitted that Veer has always treated her well. We all saw the approving nod that Girish gave Rhea when she said she is willing to the 30 day period a try. So within opposing teams we have complex emotional interactions affecting the balance of force applied to the rope.
Finally, there is the wild card - and that is Ayaan. What will be his emotional response? So far, he has never faced a situation where he had to share his mom or dad. In addition, he enjoys being smothered by Pakhi and his ND. How will he react to Rhea and vice versa? Ayaan is going to experience a threat to his security. PakhVeer have to assuage his feelings and get him to cooperate with the new situation.
The CVs have created a dynamic yet sensitive and amazingly complex situation of human emotional interaction.
Like any emotional roller coaster ride it is going be enjoyable but testing watching it unfold on screen.
