Emotional Tug-of-War

Emotional communication is a peculiarly complex interactive process between individuals and groups of individuals.

In this particular junction of the serial, it involves multiple characters with different desires and goals. Each character is, subtly or not so subtly, communicating his/her emotional state and is deliberately trying to manipulate the other's emotions through interaction.

The effectiveness of communication here is revolving around Rhea - and her perception of Veer. As I watched today's episode, my mind conjectured an emotional tug of war (also known as rope pulling).

In tug of war, two teams are competing against each other. A team wins the competition by pulling the other team towards it. Successful teams utilize physical strength, mental strength and coordination.

Here the CVs are showing an emotional tug of war. This game is being played at two levels.

On one level we have Pakhi who is going to work at enticing Rhea to understand and accept Veer. She is going to pull her by uprooting those mental blocks and emotional obstacles that Rhea has built against Veer. As Veer mentioned in the pre-cap, Rhea is not going to give even an inch easily, she will put up a tough fight and work to get Pakhi on her side (by which I mean against Veer).

The second level is very intricate or complex. Here we have the influence of Lavanya and Anuja on one hand and that of Girish on the opposite camp. There is whole new emotional dimension added at this level of the game. Rhea convinces Lavanya and Anuja that she will make each day unbearable for PakhVeer, and both you and I know that Lavanya-Anuja team will multiply Rhea's efforts a hundredfold.

However, Girish is on PakhVeer's side. Rhea has a teenage crush on Girish and is willing to do anything to earn his respect and love. Lavanya is unaware that Rhea has a crush on Girish (neither is Girish aware that Rhea has a crush on him). Girish is currently happy with Rhea because she honestly admitted that Veer has always treated her well. We all saw the approving nod that Girish gave Rhea when she said she is willing to the 30 day period a try. So within opposing teams we have complex emotional interactions affecting the balance of force applied to the rope.

Finally, there is the wild card - and that is Ayaan. What will be his emotional response? So far, he has never faced a situation where he had to share his mom or dad. In addition, he enjoys being smothered by Pakhi and his ND. How will he react to Rhea and vice versa? Ayaan is going to experience a threat to his security. PakhVeer have to assuage his feelings and get him to cooperate with the new situation.

The CVs have created a dynamic yet sensitive and amazingly complex situation of human emotional interaction.

Like any emotional roller coaster ride it is going be enjoyable but testing watching it unfold on screen.

Very well written and analyzed anonee.. Yes, the Cvs have created a very emotional tug of war between the teams and they will do justice to this track as well. The entire team of Tumhari Pakhi is amazingly talented from the actors to the writers, directors, etc. I wish the TRPs would reflect the amazing show that it is. Can't wait to see how events unfold. I do believe that Ayaan and Riya will become very close and will be able to help each other deal with their parental loss.

Very well penned down..

Rhea's equation with pakhi..veer is already hinted..she will be rude in her behaviour..remind me of little Ayaan who did not like pakhi ...Its quite understandable the rebellious behaviour as it takes time to accept somebody else as a mother or father beside your own parents..Ayaan too took his time to adjust with pakhi's presence to later accept her with open arms..Veer a bit unlucky yet as even with years he has not succeeded in getting accepted by Rhea..

Coming to Ayaan..For him his happy family is Ayaan.. Pakhi.. Veer. .photoframe is big example..will he agree to add a new member in his happy family?..will he feel insecure ?.will he be ready to share the love ..attention of his parents with Rhea?...thats the big questions?..

I have a feeling though Ayaan may act as a catalyst to change Rhea's mindset about Veer..Circumstances has made him grown up and he has already gone through this phase of losing both parent..Now Pakhi is his world and happy to have Veer as his ND too in his life...

Lets see If Ayaan..Pakhi make an impact on Rhea's life and to later accept veer as her father..

Beautiful post... very well written!!!
It will indeed be an emotional tug of war.
Reah is no AAYan ...se is older and has already seen her share of the world. He mind is not as innocent as small AAyan's.
She is looking for love in the wrong places...
Lucky for her she now has Paakhi... who is smart and calm and know how to handle difficult people. And Veer who loves her and is willing to go to any lengths to help her.
Can they get through the shell she built around herself... I am sure they can with team work.

@Anasuya - love your pictures.

@Anasuya, Vinnie and Saveeta

Thank you for the encouraging comments.

I have a major project due today. But once that is done and on its way - I do want to write more about Rhea and her state of mind.

Finally, Pakhi the protagonist has an equally mature, balanced, and kind-heartened partner in her life.

Though right now both of them view this marriage more as an unwelcome and unexpected event in their life. The two take commitments seriously. So, both parties will build some kind of a working situation, particularly as they want to bring some kind of stability in Ayaan's and Rhea's lives.

However, neither Anuja nor Lavanya are going to make their lives easy. Their plan is two pronged: one to create a rift between Pakhi and Veer; and the second to turn the kids (Ayaan and Rhea) against their parents.
