A 'Zalak' of talent
Born and brought up in Gujarat, Zalak Thakkar was in standard nine, when she began teaching dance. She conducted classes for four years till she finally landed in Mumbai a year ago. Here she began acting in Gujarati serials (Gujarati ETV). Luck smiled when she was chosen to replace Neha Devi Singh, who played the lead Bhumika in 'Saarthi' (Star Plus).
Bhumika
"I have been playing Bhumika since January. Bhumika is a complete woman—a mother, a wife and a daughter. She is a complete woman," says Zalak. She continues, "Neha played Bhumika for two years and she played it well. I entered mid way. I also tried my level best to live up to the audience expectations. Bhumkia is a shade different now from where I began." She reveals, "Bhumika has so for been a devoted and a good wife. But now she will start taking revenge."
Co-star camaraderie
Speaking about her co-stars Zalak says, "We are like a family. I am glad that producer Asit Modi believed in me. Karan Grover and other co-stars also helped me understand the character." About her alleged link-up with Karan she says, "We are just good friends. I know who I am and what I am doing. So it doesn't matter what others say."
Filmi fever
The 19-year-old actor has already done films in Telugu, Bhojpuri and Rajasthani. "My Rajasthani film 'Parai Beti' was a hit," she says with a smile.
Avid learner
Interestingly, Zalak is still pursuing her studies, "I am doing my FYBA through correspondence. Since I am working 28 days a month, it becomes quite difficult to study. But I have the interest and motivation to study, so I find time for it," she says adding, "I will definitely go for higher studies. Education enhances your thinking." Fond of books on psychology, Zalak says, "Currently, I am reading the book Many Lives Many Masters." The actor, who has won almost 50 trophies for dance, practises it everyday.
An inside 'Zalak'
The young Zalak, revealing amazing maturity asserts, "If you are good to others, then others will be good to you. I have always followed this theory, even in the industry."
