Ok friends as we all know fanaah started off with a huge hype and excitement and then had poor ratings.
First please don't tell me it Fanaah is a hit because clearly it isnt. Orelse this forum would have been atleast more active if not popular due to the following reasons.
1. Being a supernatural show, it should have generated excitement. But it didnt.
2. It had popular actors and two heart-throbs of the industry. But it still did not work whereas PKYEK worked with newcomers.
3. One of kind show, promotions and what not. Still no use.
4. Time of airing, 6 PM.. Excellent timing and has no competition either. Still people dont tune into MTV.
Now, why?
Here are my 10 reasons. Please feel free to add.
1) The first episode itself was a disaster showing what future episodes will offer us.
Seriously, was Pankaj Udaas' song with young Vivan and Dhara needed in the first epi? And that too it stretched for whole 15 minutes.. It was a disappointment.
2) Young love-story.. Who is interested in detailing? At 14 people are innocent, but not idiots. Vivan was clearly shown that. Dhara pretends she hates him and preet says she wanted to get pastries for him? And that guy believed. Cant he see Dhara is being forced?
3) The childhood love (where 14 years is not childhood and no one is a bachcha) was stretched for whole ONE MONTH. What did the screenplay writer's think. Audience are too patient? No SIr, they arent, especially when nonsensical crap is being shown and they are wasting precious half and hour on your show. You got to respect them.
4) They quite know very well that we are watching only for Kundra and Rithvik, but there are no signs of them.
5) IMPORTANT: In every episode a minimum of 3 SONGS and 10 FLASHBACK SCENES are shown. Enough to get us aspirins. Who needs them? In a supernatural show, who needs bollywood songs for every scene. They seriously made us lose interest in the scene coz they arent relevant and irritating. If the entire story till date is calculated it could have happened only in one week. 3 days for childhood love story, 4 days for grown up things. But they inserted these songs and flashbacks (complete unnecessarily) and dragged it for two months.
6) Chetna's poor acting. Need I say more. Why doesnt she get replaced? Or let her attend some workshop/institute before shooting.
7) The same rubber-band stretching drama continued after leap too.. REPEAT OF POINT NO.5.
8) Vivan's poor characterization. It made me think why did Kundra take up the role. I was his fan in KMH and Gumrah days, my siggy box was incomplete without Arjuhi and I felt he took this up only for Vikas.
9) NO SIGN OF RITHVIK. I guess producers and creatives forgot that Rithvik is the star of masses. Very few have international appeal and he is one among them. He was used for aggressive promotions of the show and now suddenly we hear the show will go off air.
Let us calculate, Kid's love story - one month, second month for grown up vivan-dhara, and in a week show wraps up. And we here like fools waiting for him. Do they think season-2 will work if betrayed audience like this?
10) Poor Direction. Infact if i were to give rate the direction i would give "no rating" and this is different for zero rating mind you. Yep, whoever the director is feel fortunate if you get zero rating by someone. Does he think that cast is very experienced, they are stars and they'll know how to portray themselves? A star or a newcomer, they need a direction, a coaching, a vision - which is director's responsibility.
I didnt intend to hurt anyone - anyone means anyone here in i-f, not directors and cvs.
I'm sure all of you are feeling the same way as I am.
