Boarding schools allow children to have safe a greater amount of control and independence over their daily lives. Teachers and staff can supervise and support but they are unlikely to be over-protective. This can be a great preparation for university or work away from home in later life as it provides an intermediate step between childhood and full independence but having to stay away from your family and friends for such a long period of time might make the child feel anxious and alone. Also since you're always going to be at school, won't that affect your social circle with people you had contact with?

Debate: Are boarding schools really beneficial to students?

P.S. If anyone has actually gone to a boarding school would love to hear from you.😳

Well...boarding schools r not beneficial for students according to me...but ofcourse there r circumstances.....if both the parents r working n cant spent more than 1-2 hrs wth their children then boarding school is a must otherwise children may become to depressive or get involved in dangerous things but yes these r the exceptions......otherwise children shud not b sent to boarding schools at all.... if we r talking abt discipline tht can b done at home also wth a suitable environment ..... in boarding children get to interact wth many diiferent children n it cannot be preseen whether this can have a good influence or not...................... it is a normal perception tht children in boarding get responsible very fast but dont people understand tht responsibility be4 age snatches the innocence of a child which just comes once a life....... a child can be disciplined n made responsible at home only wth proper guidence n siutable environment............. atleast it deosnt has the risk of losing those sweet childhood moments 😊

Im not exactly sure of either 😛

But one thing Im sure about boarding schools is that, kids learn to fend for themselves very early in life. They become independent in their own capacity and I think thats a big plus for me. It always helps in the future, makes the transition to the bigger world relatively easier. Also, I've seen a couple of my friends who've studied in boarding school to be much outgoing and social.

I know a few people who opt for boarding schools for their kids inspite of having time for their kids everyday.

on the positive side, makes u independent. also gives u an opportunity to meet with and interact with some very smart illustrious kids. that helps in terms of overall personality development i think.

on the negative, the drugs scene can be pretty rampant. curriculum a bit weak on the science side. and of course, one might miss mom's loving, dad's pampering, and whatever games brother comes up with behind parent's back.😊

nothing left to add.

It positively teaches Independence, helps developing social interaction skills, confidence - overall personality development. Hostel living made me very frank and open.

Negative points include- occasional insecurity, missing home, exposure to tempting yet risky, & harmful (to an extent) elements like sex, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes at an early age
