Although I do have a minor doubt, I think the word 'evil' was too strong a word in this context, were u going for 'spoiled'? Since u mentioned the expiry date, I assume that's what u meant..( p.s. I dont think anybody would have been able to crack it even then)..but a brilliant riddle nevertheless.. also, I think u forgot to add explanation for the final clue, something about never being offered to one for whom it was meant to be.. although its pretty clear, no explanations needed there..
