Catching up with KYPH, 12-15 September

(Apologies and caveats in another posting titled "Catching up with KYPH, 6-8 September. -E)

12Sep, Angad the frog prince-hero

AK runs into The Thug while drooping out of KS' wedding ceremony, gives chase, kicks ass, but gets shot and croaks KS' name before passing out; what saves him are the cops catching sight of Thug waving a gun around - Thug gets apprehended and AK delivered into an operation theatre; where KS arrives in all her bridal finery, collapses onto Daadi's shoulder and gets yelled at by Naina who blames AK's getting shot on -- yes, who else? -- KS; all the yelling ticks off the doctor who comes out to irritatedly tell them of the grave danger AK is in; but he _is_ our hero and is out of danger by morning; KS goes into admire an AK lying in bed with naked shoulders (!), accepts his apologies on disrupting her wedding celebrations and leaves with a Prithvi who makes his ownership of her time clear; AK spends apparently little time recuperating and eventually leaves for home; where he rediscovers a wedding gift for KS and goes to deliver the gift, albeit at a late hour, acting like a completely _goopy_ goofball, tearing up and choking and refusing to say his lines like our man, AK! Is this becoming a reverse fairy tale where the prince turns into a frog??!

Plus points in this episode: nude shoulders! Negative points: weird MIKhan delivery of the entire last scene! Puzzle points: why was The Thug at the wedding?? Mother Bose has decided not to use incompetents like him anymore, so why is he there, with his gun slipping out of his waistband of his pajamas? If the cops have him, why aren't they interrogating him to find out? And why didn't Thug do a proper job and plug AK through the head? I won't even start on the stupidity of having a chap shot through the chest, wandering out at night by himself with ambling gait and swinging arms...

13Sep, Angad, inverted and laterally inverted.

While AK is acting goopy, Prithvi switches from a controlled civil gentleman into a flaming inferno of jealousy, and the act was perfect!; from accusing KS of playing him for a fool, nearly slapping her except for AK stopping him, taunting AK of being unbearably sweet to gift him a wedding gift when he wasn't even at home - perfect! I couldn't quite buy the gun act -- Prithvi is just too sensible a businessman to pull a gun on anyone; in contrast, AK continued to act weird and non-AK like - he wasn't smart, he wasn't bold, he wasn't even courageous enough to push KS out of the way of Prithvi's pointing gun (KYPH writers, bring our boy back); Prithvi then switches back to being totally understanding and unbelieveable, clarifying for AK that he is not married to KS (what was with KS not wanting AK to know she isn't married??) and urging AK to take the plunge with KS, and walking away; now that he has been given permission, AK ambles over to KS and pulls her into a hug (since _when_ has AK needed Prithvi's permission to hug KS??!) ; it is left to KS to get smart and declare that she doesn't want to be with either guy and wants to focus on her career instead; Prithvi comes back the next morning with a AK&KS concert to hold her to her statement. Hmm.

Okay, this was one episode that the KYPH editors+cinematographers had to be shot for - What was with the dizzying switchbacks: from character to character, from colour to black&white? And _what_ was with the lateral inversion of AK's face -- in more than one instance! They wanted us to see the asymmetry of MIKhan's face and therefore, is _not_ so pretty after all? In any case, it matched perfectly with the rotten characterisation of AK. :-( This episode was the worst done episode in the KYPH set so far. The worst.

14Sep, Angad gets Kripa back

Practically on a platter, and it's all wrong. :-( Neither AK nor KS have that much conviction in what they are doing just now; That they are both mad about each other, there is no doubt; that they have to be together is unquestionable, even today; however, what's happening just now is all wrong, seriously :-( ; there's a concert at which KS constantly moves away from AK whenever he touches her; at the concert, both Josh and Prithvi urge KS and AK to accept that AK&KS have to tell the other the truth; The problem is not that AK&KS don't know the truth -- they just don't know how to "handle" Prithvi! and they are right to worry; at the concert, AK does go after KS, and KS gives in to AK; Josh is honestly thrilled to bits, but Prithvi looks like KS just failed him; it looks like there's trouble brewing in the state of Denmark; when AK&KS cuddle after the concert, AK does it with a free heart but KS is worried; AK&KS even go to tell her parents that they are back together again; but even after all this, there is the FGPrithvi to deal with; KS goes to him for a heart-to-heart but FGPrithvi's genuinely hurt and not willing to listen and KS is now terribly worried; Kunning Karthik is upto evil deeds but Naina is indifferent to KS being around as long as she can get AK back! Wow...

New lovely sights: KS' long fingered hand on AK's cheek rocks. :-) This episode was filled with cute AK&KS cuddling scenes but they all felt wrong; I thought it was stunning the way that AK has NO doubts about his love and KS' love, but that KS is FULL of doubts about both, so very consistent with the story line that it rocks; But it also says that KYPH writers have not yet found the way for AK&KS to be together forever; There is going to have to be a break, and - damn it all! - they are going to kill Josh, aren't they? :-(

15Sep, "Everything in life is easy, Angad; we just have to have a plan"

Honey Josh is upto yet-another-plan, much to AK's trepidation, but he does get Prithvi to come party; at the party, Prithvi is trying to do an-AK-style drowning-my-sorrows-in-drink but is too much of a gentleman to really succumb; a cute bit of love-play between AK&KS which goes wrong for KS when a strange new femme fatale drops in to cling to AK; KS flees without a chance to find out what's going on; AK knows his troubled love and introduces the clinging femme fatale to KS but not before Prithvi does his bit to calm her down; the femme fatale appears to be serious about AK though, and both AK and FGPrithvi want to know how she just happened to land up at a time when AK&KS got together again; there's a forgettable bit when AK&KS announce their intention to wed, but not before FGPrithvi finds the love of his life. Umm and rather ugh-ish.

MIKhan's still doing really soap-opera-ish delivery of his lines. :-( Someone please tell him that's two things he shouldn't: (1) do puppy-dog looks more than once, and (2) think that breathy deep voices are what his greatest appeal is and that his acting skills are genuinely what rocks about him. :-(
