His character "Vijay" in Agneepath, it was much after the other actors played the characters you have written. He was grounded and aspirational wasn't he. Rakesh Roshan is working on a script that is a love story. Mohenjodaro is also a love story where his role is of a simple man.
He can chose only from the scripts that come to him.

Last time his hair was black was in "Krrish 3". If in Bang Bang his hair color was black will it not be a "Hollywood Hangover" then?

There is a difference between desi songs and desi dance. For example "Jumme Ki Raat" may play in discos as well as such celebrations you point to but maybe "Tu Meri" will not. That is based on the song, dance has got nothing to do with it IMO.

Yes Mohenjodaro is a dicey deal but that is what makes it interesting for him as an actor. It is challenging for him to do and he wants to do that. BB will give him a bit of breathing space and if Mohenjodaro doesn't work he can again pick up another Masala film. JA did work though and it brought him a lot of acclaim. There were similar doubts that time as well.

He doesn't appear too much together with his dad. Last time they were together was during Ganpati Visarjan, before that was during Krrish 3 promotions and while he was having surgery.
Let people say what they want to say. If they are people who actually care, they can be given facts that it is not true that he only gives hits with his dad. If they are haters, then let them be. He has done four films with his dad till now in a considerably long career. All have been Blockbusters. Why shouldn't he do more? Just because people talk is not a good enough reason to not work with a director who also happens to be his dad.

He will overcome this issue with BB I feel, it is the perfect film at this point of time. I am just waiting for the day that articles about him stop starting with the sentences "It has been a difficult year for HR with his surgery and separation..."

As I said before I respect your views even though they are different to mine. The thing is I am a fan of him for what and how he is. I like the fact that he did Guzaarish. I can see why he chose that script, that it didn't work at the BO is a different issue. I also like the fact that he is trying to create a balance between movies for financial success and critical acclaim. He may not be successful always but atleast he is trying to give us something different everytime and not the similar thing just because it works at the BO.

He definitely needs to do more films. It is not like he is making 3 idiots/RDB that we can wait 3 years for 1 film.

His next release is on January 2016. That's 15-16 months from Bang Bang's release. Considering the scale of that project, that's quite soon enough.

- signing too many films and then getting over conscious after their failure. He got so conscious that he stopped signing more films.

- this Hollywood hangover. Sorry but he took it too seriously that he was considered Hollywood material. Since then he stopped doing desi roles, dyed his hair brown, developed an accent. He does not have the earthy appeal of KNPH, K3G, Fiza anymore.

- poor relationship with media, poor marketing, too many breaks between films

- sticks too much to dad and that has dented his image as mere daddy's boy

- news of affairs and now divorce dented his image further

- has no niche except superhero films or emperor type roles. This type of image cannot endear one to masses for long. They like a common man doing heroic things. Krissh series has slotted him as a kids' actor.

His dance is great but Western. He just lacks desi-ness.

Khans clubbing themselves together, being great at PR or marketing etc is true. But one cannot ignore Hrithik's disconnect with masses.

He just didn't capitalise on twin successes of 2006.

His choices haven't been great. DCH, RDB, 3 Idiots he rejected them all. It shows his poor script sense.

He has great potential but needs major reinvention to be a force to reckon with.

The irony of ur post is u come across as HR fan as well as HR counselor..

DJbhaijaan has given amzing answer to ur post. But I will give it a shot from another angle.

1. Over expectations.. absolutely.. yes. Some ppl ruined theatres at interval times in Fiza.. coz HR was hardly there. But what happned inbetween KNPH and Fiza was phenomenal. Not a day go by when Hr is not mentioned in media. His ads r all over media. SRK even mocked him doing that infamous pepsi ad and later appologized. He also admitted "never felt insecured in my life untill Hrithik happened..". In fact, HR's Mission Kashmir opened bigger than Mohabbtein (which had everything going for it..no need to mention).. So much so.. HR stopped signing any commercials.

2. Every film till MPKDH was signed by HR b4 KNPH was released.. His family was struggling financially and who as a newbie wud say no to Subhash Ghai, Vikram Bhatt, Suraj Barjatya, YRF? The industry knew this is the next best thing.

3. What Hollywood hangover.. In his first film and iconic "ek pal ka jina" song.. he meets Amisha and asks her "U'r not from around here, R u?" he had accent! I dont think he actually thot he has a chance in HW.. he was worried if he can make it in BW! He has always been last bencher and spot boy cum assitant director cum promo makers for his dad's films. SRK- Salman used to love him the teeager.

4.Agreed, hez not media's fav. guy nor their hated guy. In fact, he got married at height of his KNPH "HR mania" popularity.. and dint allow media to cover the event!

5. He thinks of his dad as his GOD.. if thats created his image any dent... I dont he or I wud give a shit. What i love n respect.. i m true to that.. f**k at what others think!

6. No affairs had any legs. Girls wanted to be with him.. can happen. It happens to me all the time and I m not 10% as hot as HR! 😆

7. R u kidding me? From Raj of KNPH to Amaan of Fiza to Irfaan of MK.. he always played down toearth.. Indian youth in complex society. He was as convincing as Akbar as he was as Vijay.. He can climb mountain in Lakshya and he can only act with his face in Gujarish!

8. Dance! 😆 Just do YT a favor and look at Hr's dancing on stage too. "Bhago re bhago re" is one his best on stage. But its not his fault if he can do better on big screen. He already asked us the question.. "mai aisa kyu hoo?" 😆

9. I think he connects well with ppl for a non-controversial guy. Sometimes he just let his photos available for media with his sons.. and haters say.. hey hez trying to prove himself a gr8 dad! 😆

10. He has said no to every big names in BW.. and I m surprozed hez still in their good books. This guy must know how say no without hurting some1. Now thats more important. How u keep ur relations at work is more important than what ur neighbors think abt u.. let alone a strenger going past u.

SO.. I think we r on same page as far HR and his filmography is concerned. U r on 3rd page, I m on 4th.

But, we agree if we both blv HR must do one movie per year and 2 in an odd years! Hez too good to be missed out on big screen? 😉

It's still a long gap. Then he should do 2 films in 2016. Competition has heated up a lot.

if he delivers a film in every calendar year, that is enough for me as a fun.
and ofcourse the films better be suitable to him, and thankfully so far he has done roles that suits his image, his personna , otherwise i will not appreciate if he dishes out 2 south remakes to become BO king, or does stupid item songs with honey singh. BangBang is a masala film, but it still seems to be quite stylish, something like dhoom2, which suits Hrithik with the entertainment factor full on.
As and actor he can select only from the roles he gets, and as he also suffers a lot of health issues, he needs to maintain a balance between both his work and health.

Never seen Hrithik pull stunts like that.

yes, but thats him na. If he does not believe in pulling stunts then its his individuality, and its good that he doesnt change with the way trends in bollywood keep changing. For example, southernizing the films have become a trend, he wont be doing such a kind of film if he does not believe in it, shoving down a honey singh song also has become a trend, doesn't seem like he is interested. he has been always like that.

and about the films he rejected, as u said both RDB and DCH , he wasn't offered the role that made a difference, even when he rejected humtum, he knew that Rani had the better role, as an actor he wouldn't be probably satisfied and the same thing happened with bunty and bubbly. Its not always about the quantity, sometimes content gives satisfaction too, and i feel he believes more in content.

Bang Bang is not a masala film.. from what I have so far.. its an international standard film. 😊

Btw, off topic, I like to appologize for venting out my frustration on the other topic abt Indian muslims. It was discussed on Indian radio as i was coming home.. and some ppl made comments that cud piss u off. But still.. I shudnt have done it here. I m sorry!

Back to HR.. Hez just too good to be true. 😆
