Why did Actually Zaroon try to lift Kashaf?

When I thing about this I end up in multiple answers and I really don't know which one is the actual reason . My conclusions are
1. Zaroon took Maria's comment seriously and took it as a challenge to prove Maria wrong.
2. Kashaf always supersede Zaroon in studies , debates and was favorite to the Professors. He envied her .
3. Kashaf never gave importance for Zaroon when all other university girls gave him lots of attention.
Moreover , She had good rapport with Osama . He was paranoid of that.
4. She had a good image among many students and Professors to spoil that image.
Or is there any other reason.
What was the real motive ?????
