Though I ended up in the wrong hands,

I was recovered and finally laid to rest.

Custom made to serve a wizard,

I'm a replacement but better than the original

Alastor Moody's magical eye acted as a replacement eye for him after he lost his original one in the battle.It was made particularly for him,since after Barty Crouch Jr wore it,the eye began to malfunction by being stuck in mid-rotations when it returned to Moody's socket

I'd put anything and everything into the scrutiny.

Whether you're small or big,Near or Far

You can never hide from me.

It can rotate 360 degrees is Moody's head and allowed him to see through anything,even through invisibility cloaks

Though I ended up in the wrong hands,

I was recovered and finally laid to rest.

When Moody was killed and his corpse was recovered by death eaters,his magical eye was taken by Umbridge who used it to keep track of her subordinates in Ministry of Magic.Later when the trio arrived at the Ministry,Harry discovered it .He took it off its wall and buried it later under a tree
