'Legend Honour' conferred on Lata

Mumbai, Aug. 31. (UNI): Melody Queen Lata Mangeshkar has been conferred the "Legend Honour" for this year by the jury of the second Sahara Sangeet Awards.

The award was announced by actress-politician Jaya Bachchan at a function attended by the nominees and stalwarts of the music and film industry. The presentation ceremony will be held on September 24 at San Francisco in USA.

Adorned with gold and precious stones, the Sangeet awards trophy, specially crafted by D'Damas, was revealed amid great fanfare and was presented to the living legend, who lamented her inability to attend the awards function.
