Chapter 2: Lets the game starts
When Raman went to sleep that night, his head was in a mess. His talk with the love guru had been good. He was now sure that Love Guru was a MAN. Only a man could be SMART and SENSIBLE like he was. Raman had decided to put all the tips in practice but following his gut feeling and intuitions. The steps provided by the love guru were for normal people and his wife was everything except normal, he told himself. How to put those jumbled tips in order was Raman's big pain now.
The next morning, tired after an almost sleepless night, Raman felt the alarm clock ringing literally in his right ear, ripping him from the deep slumber he was in. He jumped from bed and sat upright completely disoriented only to find his crazy wife grinning at him with the alarm clock in hand.
- Kya problem hain? Bandar ki tarah kyun ucchal rahi hain?
- It is very late Raman. Office nahin jaana hain kya?
Raman threw himself in bed again to find her again ringing the alarm in his ears. Unable to control himself, he swore. She gasped and laughed as she went away to prepare breakfast. As soon as Ishita had left the room, Raman's batti jalli! He grinned. He now knew what tip to use on Jhansi Ki Rani.
Act 1: The I.G.N.O.R.E Game
According to Love Guru sometimes it is important to give the other person some silent treatment and see how the person reacts or gets affected. Raman jumped out of bed. That's it! It is time to play! When he came out of the bathroom, Raman was fully woke up, his senses and brain alert and fully active and ready to start act one.
The prey was in the kitchen, running here and there to get things done before leaving for her clinic. When she saw her hunter, she just smiled at him; too nave to realize what would happen to her soon. The hunter went to sit at the dining table making a sad face.
- Oye Raman puttar, what is wrong?
- Maa I am not feeling good. I went to sleep very late aur ab mera sar dard se phat raha hain. I even ran fever last night and took a Doliprane but still...
As expected the prey was quick to react.
- Aap bimar ho Raman, pehke kyun nahin bataya?
Yes!! This is going to be so much fun. Lage raho Raman Kumar Bhalla! You are in the right track. Jhansi ki Rani herself will be the one who will guide me what steps to take to get her on track!!
Toshi ji, feeling bad for her hardworking son, exclaimed: Oh mera baccha why do you work so much? You should take care of your health.
Raman grinned inwardly.
Cherry on the cake. I love my mom.
Ishita could not help but feel guilty for troubling Raman early in the morning. She came to him with a cup of steaming tea, ready to say sorry but Raman immediately declined it with his hand and asked Neelu, the maid, to get him a ginger tea instead.
- Neelu didi will do it. You are already late for the clinic.
Seeing Ishita with guilt written all over her face, Raman patted his shoulder mentally.
Tussi great ho Raman Kumar Bhalla!! Mean par great ho!! Ab ayega mazaa!!
Ishita was restless all day. She had called him so many times but he had not picked up. Finally, in the afternoon, she decided to call him at the office's landline but she was surprised to hear Mihir's voice.
- Raman Bhai is just leaving for home Bhabhi. He is not feeling well na iss liye. Oh don't worry just some headache and back pain due to much stress and fatigue.
After hanging up, a confused Mihir looked at Raman questioningly.
- Kya?
- What is going on Bhai? Why are you troubling my bhabhi like this?
- Shut up Bhabhi ke chamche! I owe you no explanation. Go back to work PRONTO. Mein ghar jaa raha houn.
Back home, Raman could not help but beam with joy inside, seeing Ishita waiting for him. Apparently madam had cancelled all her appointments to be beside her husband as a dutiful wife. She was cutting vegetables in the kitchen but was looking lost.
- Koi mar gaya Kya?
Hearing his voice, a surprised Ishita looked up.
- Itni sadi hui chehra kyun bana rahi ho?
Ignoring his garb, she rushed to his side...
- You are back? Aap theek ho na? Is your back still hurting?
Kitni bolti hain yeh aurat! How I wish I could shut her up with a ...lip lock!! He smiled sheepishly.
Faking annoyance, Raman roared:
- Relax ok. I am not a terminal stage patient. I am only suffering from headache and back pain which is getting worse thanks to your lecture!
At night, when they were finally alone in their bedroom, Ishita tried to get Raman's attention again.
- You were not well. Why didn't you tell me last night?
- Kyun? Dentist ho doctor nahin. Why should I tell you? Tujhe daant ukhare ne aur anesthesia dene ke ilava kya aata hain?
- Now...Where are you going...? Raman... ?I am talking to you. Aap kahan jaa rahe ho?
Kyun? Do you want me to sleep with you? I would not mind at all. In fact I would like to have you squeezed in my arms all night for a change rather than this pillow.
Putting the pillow under his arm, Raman answered with a serious face.
- In the living room. I have to work and I don't want to disturb you...
- But...you are not well... Raman...
Closing the door in her face Raman uttered a simple good night to her leaving Ishita completely flabbergasted by his attitude. It looked like he was running away from her. Was he? What the hell?? Why would he do that? She should be the one dreading being close to him after the way he was lusting at her that morning when she was putting the hook in her blouse. It was clearly not a figment of her imagination. She saw how he was ogling her open mouthed.
The next morning it was Ishita's turn to wake up late after a restless night. She was surprised to see him at the dining table, fresh and ready for work, taking his breakfast.
He was telling mummy ji that he was feeling better and he had many important meetings to attend the whole day. Ishita greeted the mother and son duo and asked if Raman needed something else.
Yes. I want you tube light. I want to have you for myself. I want you to tell me that you want me too.
Clearing his throat, taking his files, he replied back: No. I am done. I need to go
Ishita's face fell. Why was he behaving like this with her? He was neither mean nor rude nor was he taunting her but Ishita was still feeling low. She was missing him despite him being present. He was aloof, distant and so formal with her for the past two days.
Why? She was missing their banter, their leg pulling, his sweet and sour ways to show his care and love... Why was he ignoring her and being so indifferent? Was he upset?
Ishita rushed to meet him outside calling out his name. He stopped at the staircase, turned his face to her and cocked his eyebrows.
- Can we have lunch together today?
Something about the way she had said it, pulled at Raman's heart strings. She was looking miserable. Her saucers like eyes were looking hopeful.
- I told you I am lunching with some business associates today. And please don't wait for me tonight. I will be late.
He turned away but halted when he heard her again.
- Are you upset with me?
Raman glanced at her. She had the same expressions that she had when he had come to say sorry and take her back from amma after the Parmeet fiasco. She was asking him this question in the same tone she had asked him if he was planning to go home alone and without her, on that day. Raman's heart skipped a beat.
Awww Jhansi ki Rani is too sweet and adorable to be ignored. My poor MBBS wifey! How I wish I could pull her in one bone crushing hug. A big Jaddoo ki jappi for Munni Bai MBBS!!
Raman chuckled inwardly. Drawing closer to her, he said softly:
- I am not upset. Just busy today. Meet you tonight. Aur han! Ruhi is sleeping at Paati so sleep with a knife under your pillow. I don't want to take any risk... Agar koi chor aajaye to...I don't want him to rob you.
Raman was as surprised as Ishita. Was it really him who had uttered those words? His voice had not sounded like him at all. Raman felt his heart doing a somersault seeing her smiling broadly at him, her eyes shining brightly. What would he not do to see this million dollar smile on her face?
Surprising both of them, he lifted his hand to wipe away some khol which has messed up a bit around her eyes brushing her cheek in the process. Ishita's face immediately turned hot and her cheeks, a darker shade of pink. Mouthing a thank you, she went away blushing shyly.
Wait a minute! Have I just caught Jhansi ki Rani feeling shy and blushing?
When Love Guru had added that tip in the list, Raman was reticent. He was not sure if it would be applicable on Ishita. His wife was not the type to...uh...how do we say? The type to... like getting...PHYSICAL. When he suggested and texted TOUCH HER, Raman's eye balls had threatened to pop out unable to believe what he was reading. The power of touch he was saying was what most guys overlook...
Bas!! Enough of silent treatment and royal ignores. I have missed pulling her leg these past two days. And besides she was looking so miserable. I can't see her like this. I think it is high time to start using tip two.
Time to play touchy-touchy" with my wife!
Teaser: Next chapter will be on "touchy" matters!!😃
