Debate Championship Rnd 2: Judges Thread

Hello people...

So now, the second round of the KSBKBT Debate Championship also came to an end... Again, a few people didn't show up, some posted here and there, and then some completely blew us away...

Time for the judges' decisions... We have a few changes in the panel this time...

The debate was a LOT of fun to read! Amazing job done by both of the teams 👏

My analysis this time are short coz I have to go somewhere at the moment so pls bear with me 😳

This time too, some members didn't bother showing up in the thread even once but the other team members did a greatttt job 👏

Team 1: (for team- YES – Generation Leaps ARE REQUIRED)
[mz.seductive, punky~, swetlana, Pop Princess]

Team one did a great job in the debate. The opening statement of this team was amazing. It was one of the best I have read. Uses of examples and referances was at its best. I would like to make a special mention of the biopic example used there. The 'Guru' example was a great touch and added to its great effect. Throughout the rest of the debate, members held on to the debate and showed up to support their side. Some more rebuttals from other members would have helped too. Their ending statement was also equally effective.

Team 2: (NO - Generation Leaps are NOT REQUIRED)

Team two did a very nice job. Active members in the debate seemed interested and came to post there often. The opening statement was simple but good. Somewhere along the line, I saw a lot of points repeating themselves but it was soon covered with more points and rebuttals. More examples and referances would have been better and more touching words would have helped too but all in all I really liked their work.

I really liked her debating style. It was professional, easy to understand, straight to the point and very strong. I especially loved her examples and referances and her opening statement was a real winner. Her strong words hit hard and stayed in the mind for long. Her rebuttals were very quick and observing and presented her point of view very clearly to the readers. She was present through out the debate and provided her team with a standing ground.

She was present throughout the debate and provided her team with the much needed stability in the beginning. She was always there with the rebuttals and debated for a lot of time with lots of good points in their side of the debate. Her observations were keen and she successfully placed her rubuttals on loopholes left by the opposing team.

A wonderful job once again by both the teams and all the participants 👏👏👏

It was really nice to see more enthusiasum this time 👏👏.... Both the teams did a gr8 job.

This time too there were members who did not reply or show up much in the debate... if there would have been full participation it would have been nice.but overall the debate was very good and all those who participated did a gr888 job.

The team did a very nice job. The examples and all that was put forward was eally very nice. The opening statement was gr8. In the start the team was not too active but wehen they bounced back they were too good and their rebuttls was very well done and the kept the opposite team on their toes.

The team did a good job too with the opening statement and overall. But in certain places i felt their points were getting repatative. More examples and more participation from the team would have been nice.Overall a nice job.

Her Opening statement was very good and put forward the pint effetcively. She debated very well and gave gr8 examples which made it much easier to undestand. She really put forward all her points strongly and rebuttled well.

She debated very well and was always there for the team when the opposite team had asked some qustion. she rebuttled well.

Ok... I've been pestering everyone to do the judging, but somehow, I didn't do mine... Tee hee! 😛 😛 😆 😆

Like the other judges said, many people didn't show up... But the people who did show up did a wonderful job!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the topic was a little general... But still, the teams did a good job of debating it! 👏


Ok, the teams...

The FOR team - mz.seductive, punky~, swetlana, Pop Princess

The team's efforts were spearheaded by Anu (mz.seductive)... They went in for the kill right from the beginning. The opening statement was well written, to the point and focussed on valid points. They were very observant and argued the opposing team's rebuttals effectively and quite convincingly. Punky~ and Pop Princess made a good effort too, though I would have liked to see more participation from them... Nevertheless, great job...

The AGAINST team - rutumodi915, -xx-Roohani-xx-, pari213, rajeev_eijaz

The opening statement was great! This team did well. Although, Rutu was sorely missed (due to her problems with her laptop), Roohani filled in her shoes quite well. Roohani quickly took over. Her rebuttals were at times, a little confusing, but overall, I think she did a splendid job, considering that her team members were AWOL. 👏

The debate went a lil off the track sometimes, what with the confusion whether to stick to just Kyunki… or whether to refer to other serials, or even foreign serials… But I thought the references were used quite well by both teams…

Now, the winners:

Winner: mz.seductive
I thought Anu's keen observation and concise and on the dot rebuttals were a pleasure to read. I especially loved her quoting Captain Jack Sparrow!!! 😆 It's not everyone who can quote Captain Jack Sparrow in a debate! That aside, I thought she did a wonderful job. 👏

Runner Up: -xx-Roohani-xx-
Roohani was close on the heels of Anu on this matter. Despite not having any sort of support from her team mates, Roohani did a fine job of holding her fort and her rebuttals were quite convincing. Her closing statement was on par too. She's shaping up to be quite the debater!

Winning team: The FOR team.
It was a tough task to judge this debate and choose a winning team. Both teams did equally well and were equally convincing. But I chose the FOR team, as I thought they very well put across their point, especially on a trend that everyone criticizes and deems unnecessary. Well done, FOR team…!!! 👏

I rambled a bit too much while judging the last debate, toh this time i decided to keep it short and sweet and spare you all the torture:P

As usual, Id like to make a request: Please don't take my comments to heart. I have nothing against any of you, and rest assured my verdict is not based on who I like more, or whether I agree/disagree with the statement—at the end of the day, the winner was decided on the basis of arguments that left me convinced.

Once again, though some participants weren't half as active as the others, the ones posting made the debate thoroughly enjoyable.

The "FOR" Team: Great job done !! Anu was brilliant throughout the debate , and her teammates Punky and Pop Princess proved to be great support to her(Speaking up a little more wouldnt have hurt though.😳)

Your arguments were convincing, valid and supported with quotes and examples. Rebuttals were handled with ease and the closing statement left me convinced that indeed, Generation Leaps are a must for shows like KSBKBT.

Sweetlana:absent??!!

The "Against" Team: Initially, it was a treat to see Roohani and Rutu battle it out against Anu. Both the roll over contestants from the previous debate did a splendid job....however, the untimely withdrawal of Rutu was a huge drawback to the team.

Roohani, commendable effort once again, putting the lack of support from fellow team members behind you , you argued on and in the end proved your point. The arguments were fun to read , the closing statement was apt and convincing. Pari, your points made sense, yet you made just a few scattered posts round the debate--I would have liked to hear more from you.
