Karna's son Vrishaketu was raised by Arjuna after the war. Karna being the oldest of the Pandavas, his son should have been crowned the king. Instead, why Parikshit? Is there any reason? Else, it is really strange that people (Pandavas) who were such staunch believers and followers of dharma, didnt follow the rules in this case?

Bheeshma himself says to Kunti once that karna cannot be considered has Pandav because Karna was born before Pandu came into Kunti's life and without his order to which Deva should Kunti bear the child. So technically he is not Pandu Putra just a koundev or kunti putra. This might be the reason why Karna Lineage not considered.

That's exactly what I guessed as well. Karna was not Pandu putr since he was born before Kunti got married to Pandu. Hence Karna didnt belong to the Kuru dynasty. Maybe that's why.

What I read was Karna son refused to be king and became Senapati like Arjun. If Karna has right to become king while alive than definitely his son has right to be King. As per wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karna) after the war when Pandavas were made aware of Karna's lineage, Vrishakethu was offered to be the King of Indraprastha, being the son of their eldest brother. He was under the patronage of Arjuna and took part in various battles that preceded the Ashvamedh yagna

As read some where else even though Karna was born before marriage, he will be still considered Pandu's son as per veda. So his lineage was considered but Vrishakethu refused to be king.

Yeah but if Karna lineage has to be considered than it should have been right after war i.e Yudhister himself should not have become king. Ahwamegha Yagna was after the war. Anyway no point debating on historic event.

We live in a world where brother kill brother for world pleasures. Aurangzeb example is more common than Karna, Arjun or Yudhister

Vrishketu was crowned the king of Indraprastha whereas Parikshit was king of Hastinapur.😊 Vriskhketu's lineage ruled Indraprastha after him. It was Yudhister's decision to make him king of Indraprastha. He was raised and received tutelage from Arjun himself.😃
I am citing this as per what I read in some texts referrinf to uttar-mahabharat. ( post the mahabharat war) 😳
BTW first post on this forum. Super thanks to all the written updaters for their hard work !!! ⭐️⭐️👏

Well Yuyutsu was appointed caretaker of Indraprastha after war. Yuyutsu was dhithrastra son (more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuyutsu)

More here... http://www.quora.com/Indian-Mythology/Who-became-king-of-hastinapur-after-pandvas-went-to-heaven-Was-it-Yuyutsu-or-VRISHAKETHU-son-of-karna

Anyways I am done discussing Karna's son. Different books and article may conclude differently. Wonder how does it matter now???
