Part 12:
All are game for it and Raman turns now to the dancer. He had almost won the challenge in the case of Kajol and now it was the dancer. He had to win this bet also. Aakir Raman Kumar Bhalla never loses a bet!
Pulling over his jacket and the hood over his head, he walks to the dance floor arrogantly. Suave, handsome and dashing...who could resist him for long or say no to him? Every girl in the club attempts to dance with him but his eyes keep following only his target!
**********************************
It wasn't an easy target and he knew it the moment he made way to the dancer and she just slipped from his hands without giving him a chance. In fact she wasn't giving much chance to any of the guys who were desperately trying to dance with her.
She had a veil over her face which prevented anyone from seeing her but her curvaceous body and her agile dance moves and sways were enough to speed up heartbeats of the men around.
He was amused and confused that even his heart raced up and he was eager to see her face. Raman hadn't felt this sort of an urge in last so many years. He wondered what was so special in this girl that he was now behind her. He chided himself and tried to convince that it was only because she hid her face from all and also because it was a challenge. He wanted to win it at any cost. His gang had challenged him that he would manage to see her somehow.
He, being Raman, didn't show off that he was desperate like the others. So he continued dancing all along posing as if he wasn't much interested in such a random girl but was on the constand look out for a chance to get close to her. He kept warning himself that he is married and he shouldn't let his thoughts waver. "No touching...only seeing!" kept ringing inside his head as he glanced the lady who wasn't even giving him a look or chance to get close. His plan was to get close to her, dance with her and then open the veil, thereby winning the bet.
But, she danced all the way like a lightening, never staying in any man's arm length, but specifically evading him.
He mentally smacked her, "dancer hai phir bhi itni akad...akad mein JKR ko bhi competition degi!"
Even in this rocking place, crowded with girls and guys dance floor, his thoughts ran to his JKR and he couldn't help wonder what she would be doing now and whether she would be waiting for him, angry with him etc etc. He wouldn't accept it though.
But come what may, a challenge was a challenge and he had to win it by hook or crook.
He threw stealing glances at her. At a point, just before he could grab hold of her, she just disappeared from the floor as the other girls circled him but not passing onto him a paper chit.
He was puzzled when she slipped it into his hands stealthily, amidst the confusion on the dance floor. It was such a swift action that he couldn't even catch a glimpse of her, but her touch seemed familiar and he couldn't comprehend why he felt so, but he rubbished that thought of his soon. He moved out of the floor to read what she had messaged him.
His overly eager gang rounded him up the moment he left the dance floor. They had noticed the chit in his hand. Fidgeting the chit in his hand, his eyes searched for the dancer who literally seemed to have evaporated from the place. Romi and Mihir were the first to reach him and started urging Raman to open the chit
"Bhai, dekho na kya likhi hai..."
Raman took his time and showed all his disinterest before reading it.
"Room 1078"
Bala slyly winked at the others seeing the number. "Aam khud tumaare haathon mein giraa hai...tum lucky ho Raman!"
Though Raman posed his male ego to have almost won the challenge and in fact gone a step ahead and got the girl to invite him to her room, he wasn't too keen on going there. Of course, his moral values wouldn't allow him to over step his boundaries of a marriage. He respected his relationship with Ishita even if would never acknowledge it. He could never even think of cheating on her.
But the others weren't leaving him even when he told them to let go of it.
Bala was totally the extreme opposite to what he was in his normal state. He was the first one to push Raman into the elevator, "aur kuch nahi toh bas naam jaan lo...usska chehra bhi dekhna baaki hai Raman..."
The others chorused Bala's thoughts, "yeah yeah that's the challenge na bhai??"
Raman muttered and rambled as the lift door closed, "kya museebat hai yaar? Chalo teek hai...jaatha hoom"
His words never went out of the lift as the doors closed and it ascended up to the next floor where the room was.
Meanwhile, the subject of their discussion paced up and down the room,
"Aane dho usse...wahaan sabke saamne tamaasha nahi karna chahti thi...yahaan aayega toh patha chalega Jhansi ki rani kisse kehte hai!"
Another part of her still hoped that he wouldn't come. He wasn't the desperate type of guy who would get tempted by such antics but then his gazing her while dancing did tell the opposite. Her heart thumped loudly making her body tremble even at the thought of him with another girl.
Downstairs, the lifts just closed and moved up. Instantly, the guys except Neil felt their ears twitching. They turned around yelling in pain to see all their better halfs before them. Their eyes glared in anger while the alcohol in their system slurred their justifications and reasoning. Mihika used her other free hand to grab hold of Neil as well and twitched his ears, "Trisha ne mujhe permission diya hai...this is for you Neil...with all love from Trisha!"
Vandu twisted Bala's ears one more round making him shriek in pain, "toh yahaan hai tumaara extra classes, haan? Chalo ghar...phir main lethi hoom special classes!"
Vandu's free hand grabbed Romi as well, rightfully like an elder sister.
Mihika spoke up to MIhir, "Office mein audit ka bahaana karke yahaan ladikiyon ki audit??? Tum chalo Mihir...main sikaathi hoom audit kaise karthe hai!"
They didn't have a choice but walk along with their ladies and they had long forgotten about their leader Raman who was on his way to find the dancer's name and see her face, thereby winning the bet!
Hearing his foot steps, she dimmed the lights quickly and sat in a place where he cannot spot her. Her heart and mind brimmed with angry questions and accusations but she held her reins tightly and sat quietly. She told herself that she will get her chance to ask him every damn question.
Raman staggered his way through the corridor and stood before the room which she had mentioned. He had done half the work already. On his way, he found from the hotel staff that the room was booked in the name of Radhika. So now, he just had to see her to finish the challenge.
He knocked the door twice before twitching the knob. He found the door ajar and pushed it open. The darkness was a surprise and as he walked in, even the ray of light which came in weakened and yet no sign of the girl. He called for her in annoyance, "Oh hello...Radhika, Radha jo bhi ho...zara saamne aa jaao"
She wanted to reply to him but then she suddenly seemed to have lost her words. The angry outpour got struck and dissolved in her throat. Perhaps she felt that it wasn't in her rights to scold him for this but still it hurt.
When there was no response, he spoke up again, "arre suno...I am not here for anything like you assume...main yahaan ek challenge ke wajeh se hoom...mujhe sirf tumaara chehra dekhna hai..."
That gave her a little relief but still she wasn't able to get through her hurt feeling that he wished or perhaps even longed to see another girl.
Now she wasn't in a state to face him as well. She held back since she didn't want him to see her in this state of vulnerability and jealousy. Theirs wasn't a normal husband wife relationship and probably he would also mock and insult her for asking wife like questions to him. He would probably vouch for his freedom and would never let her exercise such rights over him. She just couldn't bear to hear it once more from him that they were together just for Ruhi and there was no other relationship between them.
Her silence snapped his patience and he was already searching for the light switches when a message beeped on his mobile. It was Mihir's message and he somehow sensed that it was urgent. So he left the room in a hurry yelling, "Go to hell...mujhe tumaare games keliye waqt nahi hai! GOOD BYE!"
He also felt that seeing the girl forcefully against her will was inappropriate.
It was well past midnight when Raman entered the house stealthily. All his adventures had brought down the alcohol effect on his system. Though he slurred and staggered a bit, his logical thinking prompted him against making loud noises and waking up the house hold.
The bed and couch were empty and he wondered where Ishita was. He looked around but she wasn't anywhere to be seen. He even checked Ruhi's room and that was empty too. He saw Ruhi was in her dadi's room, sleeping peacefully. He assumed that Ishita was at her amma's place though he felt it odd. Ishita never stayed there over night and so he wondered what was new tonight that she opted to sleep there. Was he missing her? Or perhaps he had expected a scolding from her for coming late and that too in this intoxicated state. Though he would never admit openly, he slowly started liking her lectures, her scoldings, their silly fights, her care, her concern. The wife like behaviour, and loving caring attitude from her side indeed gave him immense joy and solace. The feeling of being belonged, owned by her was really blissful and unexplainable in words. Nowadays, he had started expecting all such wife like gestures from her side. A smile, a nod acknowledging his presence when he came back was all that was required from her to make him feel happy from inside. Though he called Neel, Bala and Mihir as cowards who are scared of their ladies, he too wanted to experience the same feeling. He wanted her to fight with him, question him for what he did.
So her absence irked him.
He came back to his room and managed to change his clothes though struggling a bit. He crashed into the bed but his eyes stayed open. Her absence in their room stung him from inside. He went to the balcony to check if she was there but even after 10 minutes, there was no trace of her. So he came inside smacking her mentally, "pati ghar aaya ya nahi...isska koyi fikar nahi hai Jhansi ki rani ko...ghode baech ke so rahi hogi!"
He switched on the TV as sleep evaded him.
As he flipped through the channels aimlessly, he heard the door click open. She walked inside. He didn't even look at her but couldn't help questioning sarcastically, "Ab iss waqt kyun aayi? Wahi Amma ke ghar pe so jaathi...waise bhi yahaan kya..."
She snapped his words short, "main Amma ke ghar pe nahi thi...I was out for a party...thoda late hogaya"
He was taken aback by that reason and he turned to her side, "Party?? Akele?"
She walked to the ward robe to take her night clothes, "akele nahi...Mihika, Vandu akka, Sarika...Girls night out!"
She didn't wait for his response or even look at his direction before walking to the rest room.
His mouth had opened widely as his eyes followed her and that's when he saw her form properly. She was in a black party frock which reached just below her knees. He mumbled to himself angrily, "Girls night out party?? Iss madrasan ko achaanak kya hogaya?"
PS: The party they went was of a big star hotel and hence the rooms. Ishita had strictly forbidden Mihika and her team from telling anybody that Ishita was Radha. So it wasn't open to anyone yet.
[To be continued]
So how was it? pls do reply
