Suicide in Bollywood?

Is suicide rare in Bollywood? Besides Jia and Divya who most still believe were murdered, who else committed suicide? was Guru's accidental? or he wanted to die?

I'm asking this because it's becoming shockingly normal for HW stars, people aren't even shocked anymore. It was just few months back when Philip Seymour Hoffman took his life and now Robin Williams.

What makes our BW stars different? I'm pretty sure stardom taste the same so why aren't our Udays and Tushars not committing suicide( thank god they aren't) but have you thought about why? Is it because they are more religious? more grounded? don't take stardom too serious? What is their secret?

Well it's good that they are not. Maybe they understand what suicide really is! It's not a joke or a game. It's not a step of bravery.

Maybe they are sensible enough to realize that one shouldn't kill themselves for a career or anything else. For that I am proud of them👍🏼 Life is a god gift according to me and we should value it.

And now since you pointed out names of uday and tushar then i feel they were never into acting that much. Maybe they never cared about acting or Bollywood career. Maybe they were just pressurize to come on bolly. C'mon they have everything, money, house, business. They have all luxuries so they will never waste their life for career in bolly and they shouldn't.

Killing yourself for an flim industry is not worth it! Actually killing yourself for anything is not worth it. We should value our life. It's a valuable

Guru Dutt outta depression committed suicide after his controversial affair with Waheeda Rehman. He was drunk and had taken an overdose of pills, which caused in his death.

There's also SILK SMITHA. The popular and controversial actress/dancer of South/Bollywood in the 90s who committed suicide by hanging herself. There were also reports that she was actually murdered, her death still remains a mystery

there was thise guy who featured in a movie with sonali bendre.. he also committed suicide because of his personal life issues.. i think the film name was dil hi dil mein and this was the guy..

I don't think they are killing themselves for movies per se but more for the what had been... It must suck to be adored so much and one day the calls and admirations stop.

@OCK So Silk's death is also unclear? besides Guru there is no other suicide cases. That pretty impressive, may they always stay this wise and value their lives.

Silk lost a lot of money after getting into film production. That was said to be the reason for her suicide.

Shoba, a national award winning actress committed suicide at 17. She was married to Balu Mahendra.

I'm pretty sure Phillip Seymour Hoffman died of an overdose. Also people are definetely still shocked when someone so beloved dies. There are also tons more celebrities in hollywood compared to bollywood where theres a handful of actors so such cases are more visible in hollywood but by no means is it a regular occurrence.

i just dont get it.. why do they need to commit suicide.. yes coz of depression but it happens due to some ppl in life have done wrong to u.. but u need to fight it..

i will again give my brothers exmaple.. after his death.. his wife called to see him.. but was reffused by his mother.. that she isnt allowed to see him after what she done to him..

bhaiya was so despressed he used to to say that he hear voice and always felt he was followed by ppl. even when he used to come home he said some one is following him.. we always used to go down to see my yong bro who is damn soshilla used to take baseball bat with him. but there were no body there..

and suddenly one day he roke down.. and were taken to hospital and tayed there for 6months+ but got back to normale..

yes there were some times he used to be lost but was very much cured.. right untill he was stapped to death by a danish man.. who is still in jail.

hope he gets his punishment.. after that lets see what happens

Depression goes hand in hand with stardom..when you are in a position in your life.. When you have done everything.. You made money..u are famous and you have nothing to achieve..it Leads to depression.. You have nothing else to achieve...so depression is one of the perks of being famous or a celebrity..

It is not too often that I say this.. our culture is better.. You will never hear any Indian celeb going through depression.. Because we r close to our family .. The more time we spend with our family and loved once.. The less likely we feel depressed.. It is a proven fact..our relationship with our parents, siblings and later on wife.. Kids keep us away from any of the issues like depression..

The reason Suicide is very rear in BW is because we as indian, afghan, and Pakistani.. or people from subcontinent.. spend most of our lives surrounded around our families and loved once..that plays a big role in establishing relationships..

I agree with @dabbang4life here. Although success and downfall is part of both bolly and holly. I feel that bolly actors don't commit suicides because they have their family by their side. Loneliness does lead to depression and depression leads to suicide. The fact that usually desi people are really close to their parents, siblings, wife, kids help them hold themselves in tough times,

Holly actors don't have same support from family which bolly actors have. And I agree it sucks that you're admired so much and suddenly all that stops.
