Why does the girl always have to be so stuck up initially?

Most shows show the female lead initially to be the stuck up, full of attitude, and rude girl who is always misunderstanding people, especially the lead males during the first few interactions.

I know sooo many guys in my friend and family circle that would never even bother after that horrific first impression.

Indian shows need to cut that out.
