Khushi now walked in her room. It was time for bed. She remembered how Arnav claimed that this room was his, so how was she supposed to sleep on his bed? She looked at her fingers which felt much better now. She picked the blanket and a pillow and kept it on the couch near by.
Arnav who was in a good mood walked in the room. As soon as their eyes met, Khushi smiled back as she knew he was happy meeting Rey. Arnav smiled too. Khushi felt a different kind of joy within her as this way after a long time he smiled at her.Arnav went to change and khushi made her sleeping arrangements on the couch and tugged inside her blanket.
As soon as Arnav came out, he was surprised seeing Khushi on the couch. She was with her eyes closed; he guessed she probably must be asleep by now. He walked slowly towards her and sat on his knees, at the end of the day, he wanted to speak out his heart to someone, who other than Khushi would be the best person, especially when she is asleep and won't interrupt him.
Arn: (smiling) Wo, I dint know kaise react karna tha, jab maine Rey ko dekha. I was happy obviously! (Scratches his head) But you know, I couldn't ... mere toh pair apni jagah se hil hi nahi rahe the, main usse hug karna chahta tha, par kar hi nahi paya. You know sabko lagta hai ki main bohot strong hu, par actual mein main tum sab k jaisa hi hu, just the difference is muje apna weakness dikhana nai ata.
He looked at Khushi, and now had tears in his eyes,
Arn: I know tumne Rey ko wapus ane k liye kaha hoga, ya phir tumne Taani se baat ki hogi, (moves his shoulders) M happy ki tumne ye kia, pata nai maine tumse kya kehna chaiye!! (takes a deep breath) Anyways for now, good night!!
He gets up and walks towards his bed,Khushi who was with her eyes closed but not asleep, smiled. She slowly opened her eyes and looked at him as he tugged himself in his blanket. She didn't want to stop him speak out his heart; it wasn't everyday that you get to see this side of him. She smiled and closed her eyes and went to sleep hoping that she gets to hear such things from him every night.
Next day.
It had been 15 minutes now but Khushi was still infront of the mirror, Arnav was standing behind as he wanted to tie his tie. He struggled a little bit but couldn't see properly. Khushi just finished applying Kajal.She looked at him in the miroor and remembered last nights talks, she slightly smiled as she opened up her liquid eyeliner Frustrated Arnav rubbed his forehead,
"What the... Khushi muje office k liye der ho rahi hai aur tum yaha apna beauty salon kholke baithi ho. (He pulled her eyeliner) ye.. yeh sab lagane mein itna waqt kyu lag raha hai tume? Itna simple kaam bhi nahi kar sakti tum!!"
"Baat toh aise kar rahe hai jaisi ki aap roz ye lagate ho. Ye lagane mein muje waqt lagega. Hume ye wapus dijiye" Khushi realized that he wont return it back, "Toh phir thik hai, agar apko lagta hai ki yeh itna asaan hai toh aap khud muje lagake dekh lijiye. Tab apko pata chalega."
"Fine" Arnav muttered as he opened the liquid eyeliner, as always he had to prove Khushi wrong. It couldn't be that hard,he thought as he pulled out the brush.
Khushi looked at him and nodded her head,he raised his eyebrows as he lookedat her and the brush.Khushi closed her eyes and stood infront of him. Arnav steped closer to her and with full concentration tried to make a straight line on her her eye lids. As he was doing it he caught Khushi's cheeks so that he could do it properly.
They didn't realize that they were standing so close that she could actually feel him breathing. He managed to make a half staright line, he dipped it in the bottle again. He just galnced at Khushi, she moving her lips slightly as if she was murmuring and grumbling in her head, which he was sure she was doing. Arnav smiled as he dipped the brush again and looked at her, he went closer to her again and placed his palms on her cheek and wanted to complete the line but his hands were trembling.
Khushi could feel it on her cheeks, she immendielty caught his trembling hand . Arnav looked at her hand and then at her. He stopped for a few minutes. He realized that he's heartbeat had slightly increased. He gulped and continued with the eye liner. He finally managed to complete one eye.
He realized that it wasn't his cup of tea as it wasn't a perfect straight one. He knew Khushi could do it better.
He cleared his throat as a signal for her to open her eyes. As she opened it she looked at him standing close to her, he took his hand off her cheek and gave her the eye liner. She turned and looked at the mirror and smiled as he had tried hard but it was way too crocked. Both looked at each other in the mirror and Khushi started giggling as Arnav smiled as both of them found the line funny.
Scene Shift
St Theresa's.
Rey happily was sitting next to Vicky. Everyone was busy talking and laughing. Everyone knew about him returning back home, He was happy, smiling, full of energy.
Vicky was laughing and giggling when he abruptly stops. Rey looks at Vicky who was staring at someone, he turns to check who exactly it was.
He was stunned as it was Taani entering the gates of the school.
She seemed different, not only her dressing sense or hair, but her attitude was different too. She seemed happy. She was smiling with her headphones on. Rey for a few seconds couldn't believe what he was seeing,he wasn't expecting her like this at all. He kept staring at her as if he was seeing her for the first time.
His thoughts were interrupted as Vicky holds Rey shoulder, "Dude, are you sure you're done with Taani?"
He shrugs his hand off him, "Hey! Relax ok! Neha pe concentrate karo..Jis tarah se wo Bharat se baat karti hai look's like she's done with you!"
Vicky smirked, "Cool down mahn! I was just kidding. But Taani kaafi alag lag rahi hai na?"
Rey stares at Taani again,Yeah she did seem different. He was waiting for her to come to him and ask about his first day at home. Obviously she had to come up to him. She always does. Although she seemed different but at the end of the day she is Taani and she will come to him. But to his surprise, Taani walked straight without noticing him. She smiled at Swayam and started talking to Sharon.
Did she just ignore me? I mean are you serious? Doesn't she want to know what happened at home? I went back to my house, I mean, what else can be more important to her than that?
He kept staring at her; she was giggling and talking to Sharon. She waved goodbye and walked inside the classroom. Rey followed her.
"Owh, toh yeh sab, (points out to her clothes) changes se kya sabit karna chahti ho? "
Taani turns with a surprised expression; there he was again, standing right infront of her. She with great difficulties had managed to ignore him in the hallway but how was she supposed to ignore him now. She just took a deep breath and silently started picking some papers on her desk.
Annoyed Rey rolled his eyes and walked closer to her, "Silent mode pe kyu ho? Tum chahe jitna apna hairstyle badlo ya phir dressing sense badlo Taani, apna attitude koi naho badal sakta aur na hi apna past."
Taani was amazed with his words, she couldn't remain silent,She bangs the bunch of paper on the desk,
"Lekin apna future toh badal sakti hu na Rey?Ya main wo bhi nahi kar sakti? Shyam k behen hone k wajah se kya ab main apni life jee bhi nahi sakti? Aakhir aap chahte kya ho?Kya aap yeh chahte hai ki main apke aagey piche gumti rahu, har waqt apse maafi mangti rahu? "
She was breathing heavily, "Main thak gai hu Rey!! Main bhi khush hona chahti hu! Yaha pe har koi khush hai sivai mere! Par apko yeh baat kabhi dikai hi nai deti. Aur ab apko apka ghar mil gaya hai, apki Anjali di, nani ji, Arnav bhai sab mil gaye hai.Par kya apne yeh socha hai Rey ki muje kya mila hai??"
Rey was speechless, he just kept looking at her as she spoke, and he didn't know what to answer back. Taani gulped and holds her forehead, "Main ab ek fresh start le rahi hu Rey, Kya main please apni life ko apne liye jee sakti hu, for once??" She had tears in her eyes, but she didn't want to cry.
Rey takes a step closer to her; he felt that he was going to lose her again. He already did once. He stares at her as she wiped her tears, He was feeling restless, she wants to take a fresh start, that too without him. Something didn't seem right.He took a deep breath .
Taani looked at him straight in the eye, "Mr. Reyansh Singhania. I want a divorce."
Rey was thunderstrucked; did he just hear what he heard? Was this even real? Or is he dreaming? He stared at her as if she was from outer space. He took a step away from her, he looked around the empty classroom. Few minutes ago he was happy about getting back home but suddenly all of that seemed useless. As if every joy in his life is temporary. He looked back at her, she was staring straight into his eyes.
Taani with great pain had finally said what she felt was the best for the both of them. Their relationship didn't make sense to her at all. He would never get back to her since he hated her for being Shyam's sister. And he made it clear to her not once but several times. She wanted to give her life a chance and move on. The only thing that would not let her do so, was her marriage, it would always hold her back. It wasn't easy but was necessary.
Rey was still not in the state of answering her. He kept moving away from her step by step. Annoyed, disturbed, shocked, he just kept looking at her, "Who are you?? " he asked as he couldn't believe that it was the very same girl he knew.
His tone crushed Taani's heart which was already in pieces, she couldn't stop her tears ,this was not easy at all, "Main Taani hu Rey! woi Taani jo apko kuch saal pehle mili thi"
Rey with tears in his eyes kept nodding his head in a no, "Nahi". That's all he could say and just walked out of the classroom.
Taani who was holding back all her tears, sat down on her chair. She was breathing heavily. His reaction kept digging her wounds. It didn't seem like he wanted to let go. Why was he surprised? He hated her, then why wasn't her happy about the split. For a moment she went back to her dark zone, where she was surrounded with all sadness.

I would like to thank all ma readers for always encouraging me!! So there you go..as requested, an independent Taani, she cant change in one day , so she definitely will take some time!! It aint easy to move on from a broken heart na!!!
I'm trying to decrease the distance between Arshi! hopefully i shall manage to do so in the near further chapters!!
