Part of curriculum at early classes has mention of various wars that took place in past history. Does that value other then knowing about heroic deeds of warriors? Well show kids 5 movies done deal, learn and exams on historical wars.

Include more in topics that might benefit kiddos in today's net age then learning about historical wars. Well if someone draws interest, ok keep it as optional subject or let interested folks take majors in later grades, from beginning. BTW remember the song "Sikander ney porus sey kit hi ladhai, jo kit hi ladai toh mey kya karu"

Remove mention of wars from curriculum?

PS – not challenging the educationists just something to think about.

😆 😆 😆

YOu want chutkara from history? 😉 😆 Am sure major chunk of history revolves around wars, and you know what they say, if you don't know your history, you are bound to repeat it. But man is so dumb, repeats history even after knowing it. 🤢 😆

Persy

Ps. don't you think we already have too much of a, for the lack of a better word, a "specialized" study? We are limiting the amount of info. we put into our brains, and what harm comes of learning of wars, and reasons we went to wars. And war ain't always about the heros; it is about reasons, and ego-tussles. Let kids learn of those.😛 Then they will know why we fight the current ones, which very much affect their future. Don't you think so?😃

well i for one think that it is necessary for students to take history - including the discussion of wars - because it is necessary for them to understand that the fact that most of the activities they engage in are only possible because way too many people lost their lives for it ...... i mean i know myself that taking history in high school was a real eye opener ...... we were shown videoclips of the holocaust and it was not easy to watch .... but it enabled me to see that although freedom should be a right it has been treated as a privilege by too many people throughout history and thus has had to have been obtained violently .... students need to be exposed to these facts more so that they can become more enlightened about the path that their ancestors had to take to help them reach where ever they are now .... whether you live in india and are learning about the revolt of 1857-8 or if you are in canada or the us learning about the war of 1812-14 or you are in any part of the world learning about any war .... it is a necessary part of the curriculum

^^^^ Realizing the fact so many lives were lot, how does it bring value when one's focus is in different field.

Am saying yes talk about great deed of warriors might help someway but not at extend to make this subject cause of failing to pass exams. My point all this info is FYI no need to base promotions in grade.

Raj, This thread reminded me of another hot hot debate https://india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=508084 😃.

Without history we would be lost. War is also an important part of it and it's omission will make it half-baked history. We will not know how some were cheated, how an empire was finished, how a country was devastated. 😛

History only teaches us. It is narrowminded views which spoils the present.

Hmm by removing it from curriculam they will learn from else where. 😉

You can never erase the memory of war. If kids dont learn this from school, they will read from newspapers. You cant escape this subject with wars happening everywhere.

Its good for Kids to have open knowledge on everything and form own opinions to the rightness or wrongness of a action.

Also there is a sense of pride here too.

Last year went to Belgium - History trip, good fun experience for more reason that one, 😆 but also educational. Visted Trenches, battlefields etc. Good to learn the life of Men at war in WW1....also visiting the graves in belgium brought tears to eyes, seeing soo many graves...they died for their country.... 😳 so good to learn both sides to the war..good and bad.. 😊

Agreed, but @ bold how does war teaching helps him/her, replace that stuff with net time, or reading encyclopidias.

I always felt War histories an interesting read but we had to remember so many names of warriors and each contributions.... there used to be lot of confusion... iska kaam uske sir 😆

Though the history on ahimsa movements was boring and long, but there was nt much to remember in that, except Mahatma Gandhi, chale jao movement, satyagrah, swadeshi movement etc 😆
