Ok I feel so cheated at how rushed the pregnancy track went, I looked forward to the little little things like Rudra being over protective and extra concerned, Paro's cravings, her mood swings, etc but we got non of that. The idea of a small series of short OSs outlining a few of these has been playing on my mind since so started with this...its very short and simplistic though, let me know what you guys think
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Paro! Ye kya kar rahi hai? (Paro! What are you doing?)" Rudra asked crossly entering the kitchen.
"Kya kar rahi hoon? (What am I doing?)" Paro asked in return, confused as she continued chopping vegetables expertly.
"Chod! Iss halat mein zyada der khade nahi rehna chahiye, chal aaram kar (leave it! You shouldn't be on your feet for so long during pregnancy)" Rudra instructed, easily taking the knife from her hand.
"Par Major Saab" Paro attempted to argue but he silenced her with his lips. The kiss was quick, before he could get into it, she pushed him off.
"Kya kar rahe hai aap? Koi dekh le ga (What are you doing? Someone will see)" Paro told him off as his lips curled into a small smile, there was something incredibly attractive about her being cross at him. He gently swept her off her feet and began walking towards their room.
"Dekh lega toh kya? Tinku ki ane ki khabar se sabko andaaza hai ke hum kya kya karte hai (So what if they see? After the news of your pregnancy I'm sure they all know what else we've been up to)" he whispered quietly in her ear and felt amused seeing her turn tomato red.
"Besaram! (Shameless)" Paro slapped his shoulder as he lay her gently on the bed. He knelt down by her and took her hands in his.
"Mein kaise kaam pe ja sakta hoon agar tu aisa apna dhyan nahi rakhe gi, tumhe teek se aaram karna chahiye, ghar mein itni auratein hai kaam ke liye, tujhe kya jaroorat hai kaam karne ki (How can I go to work if you don't look after yourself. You need to rest well, there are so many ladies in the house to do the household work, what is the need for you to do any of it now)" he expressed his worries to her.
All day at the BSD headquarters he'd wonder if she was ok or not. He'd spent hours surfing the internet today learning the do's and don'ts of pregnancy. The news had come as a big surprise to him even but Paro's reassurance had faded his doubts and instead filled him with happiness and anticipation he'd never known before. He was going to have his own little family with her.
"Poora din aaram toh kiya meine, bas sham ki rasoi ka kaam hi toh kar rahi thi (all day I rest, just in the evening I go to cook)" Paro tried to justify. She'd long ago understood that Rudra's emotions were extreme, be it his anger, love or even concern. She had expected this level of concern. Paro nearly broke into a giggle when she remembered their sangeet and how Rudra was so panic stricken on not finding her in the room, he had instructed her to tell him where-ever she went, even if it was to the washroom.
"Par kyun? Bhabhisa hai na (but why? Maithili can do it)" Rudra argued.
"Kyun ki mein apne haathon se apne Major Saab ke liye unki pasand ka khana bana na chahti thi (Because I want to make my Major Saab's favourite dishes myself)" Paro explained as she cupped her husband's face, "aur poore din lete rehna bhi sehad ke liye acha nahin hai (and lying down all day isn't good for my health either)" Paro tried changing the topic now.
"Apne Major Saab ki liye itni takleef uthana zaroori nahi hai (There is no need to take that much trouble for your Major Saab)" Rudra said sitting down next to Paro on their bed. Paro caught a whiff of an all too familiar scent. She sniffed again.
"Major Saab...ye sugandh? (Major Saab...this smell?)" She looked around for where it could be coming from. Rudra conjured a small bag of imli from his pocket and held it to Paro as her savoured her reaction. She looked elated as she began nibbling away at the imli instantly.
"Woh suna meine...inn dino mein khatta khane ka bohot mann hota hai, isliye le aaya, aur tumhe toh waise bhi pasand hai imli (I've heard, during pregnancy women crave sour food, so I bought you imli, as it is you like it alot)"
"Sukriya" Paro beamed, "mann toh bohat kar raha tha par ghar mein khatam hogayi thi, socha tha ke kal bazaar se mangwa lungi (Yes I was craving it but there was none in the house, I thought I'll ask someone to get it from the market tomorrow)" Paro continued going through the bag of imli.
Rudra burst into a chuckle watching her eat, her eyes tightly shut as the sour taste of imli teased her tastebuds. Both of them behaved like kids themselves despite embarking on the journey of parenthood.
So what do you guys think?
