Lever will be the third judge on Sony's show Comedy Circus

No Softie: Johnny Lever

Johnny Lever will enter Sony's Comedy Circus this Saturday as the third judge.

Talking to HiTLIST, Lever says that Vipul Shah (producer, Optimystix) called him last week and asked him to join judges Archana Puran Singh and Satish Shah.

"Vipul said I would fit the bill to judge stand-up comedy. I have done television before (Zee's Johnny Ala Re). Comedy Circus will not require too much shooting. It's just a matter of 12 episodes. So I said yes," he adds.

Tough get going

A source says, "Optimystix and Sony realised that both the judges were cool and soft. They wanted someone like Annu Malik (Indian Idol) and Abhijeet (Sa Re Ga Ma) who can call a spade a spade. That is why Lever was summoned."

Lever says that he would not be a softie and hold himself back. "I will tell the contestants what is right. If I don't point out their mistakes, how will they learn?" he reasons.

'I'm choosy'

On films, Lever says that he is choosy and is not doing films left, right and centre. "I am doing Hera Pheri 4.Then I have Hey Phansa (starring Arbaaz Khan) and Abbas Mustan's next," he says.
