The handome hunk, Karan Kundra who debuted with Kitani Mohabbat Hai on small screen and stole the heart of million of girls with his dimpled smile as Arjun Punj and Arjun Singhania in the two seasons of KMH respectively, is back to kill us in his new avatar. He is currently seen playing the character of Vivaan, the hottest Vampire of Indian television in MTV Fanaah. Just Showbiz for our dear readers, got in touch with him for an exclusive interview, risking our lives as his charm is enough to kill. Fans guys would definitely agree on that.. right?
Excerpts:
Why did you choose the show Fanaah' to come back on TV?
Its the biggest and the most expensive show M TV has made in the past 16 years and also with a different concept. MTV is the second largest brand after coca- cola and coming back I can't come back to the main stream daily soaps because of my date constraints. I have to be promoting my films, running around for second schedule shootings. I have always worked with the youth. If you have seen the promo and look at the way we are working. Fanaah has an International format. If I have tocome back with fiction without a different concept, there is no difference between me and the rest of the herd in TV. Last, my aim is not to do TV but to balance. Its a 3 month mini series. Its not like, there is a lead role, a heroine, a dad, a mom and drama. Its a BBC and MTV Mutli-Starrer International show. I don't think there is anything better on TV specially if you don't have time for daily soaps.
There has been news that the show Fanaah' is inspired by Vampire Dairies?
Its just speculation. After seeing the promo people are coming up with their own ideas. If you see the promo there is Raatan Raajputh, Ritwik Dhanjani, Anita Hassandhani, Me and a new girl opposite me. Its written from scratch and got nothing to do with Vampire Dairies.
Raatan Raajputh is a very versatile actress. How was it working with her?
She is a brilliant actress not just versatile. I am very comfortable with Raatan. Initially, I was little apprehensive because she hasn't done work like this but she is a bundle of surprises. I have a lot of respect for her. She is an amazing actress and she is going to be a surprise package on the show. You have to wait and watch.
How is it working with Vikas Gupta?
I have been working with him since the start of my career. I have seen his grow as a simple creative head to a channel head. I have seen a tremendous growth in his career and also as a person. If a person has grown so much in both personal and professional life, he has to be talented. He inspires us and that is also the reason why I agree blindly to what he comes up with. I trust him.
You always have something new and different to offer to your audience. What's unique in this show?
I think I am quite blessed and I could do work that I like doing and challenges me. I know what the expectations are from me and I will try my best to do accordingly.
You recently visited Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. How was the trip?
It was very overwhelming. There's a lot of energy in that city and I brought back the energy with me. I am not a very religious or spirutual person but it felt nice. Overwhelming is the word.
How is Karan Kundra as a person in real life?
Hmmm, I am confused so may be you should call up my friends and ask them. I am a very loyal friend, yaron ka yaar. I spend most of my free time with friends. I always try to maintain relationships. On a personal life basis, I am all about my friends. I have a small bundle of joy to the people I am very close to.
Message to you fans?
I am blessed to have you all. It is only because of you people I keep getting good work and I strive to work hard for only you guys. Keep loving me and keep expecting from me because that makes me work harder.
