Shahrukh Khan and co. have planned the release of Happy New Year trailer along with Singham Returns on August 15, and that's the same day when Aamir Khan, who very strategically plans the promotions of his movies, is also set to release the trailer of his film P.K..
Now that's a sticky situation. The two movies may not be clashing at the box office, but the trailers coming out on the same day is no less a competition between the two Khans. Now, not only the industry but Bolly fans too will be keep a close watch on both the trailers, and it's obvious that comparisons will be drawn as to which trailer is more promising and gets more positive reactions.
"Aamir plans to give out the first look of P.K. on August 15, the same day as Happy New Year teaser will be attached with Singham Returns. He is planning to have an event to launch the promo.
"What is interesting is the fact that he's putting a teaser out in August for a film that comes out in December! This move is definitely going to be scrutinised and analysed by industry insiders and trade experts," a source is quoted as saying.
Earlier too Aamir Khan did something similar. In 2008, when Shahrukh Khan's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' released on December 12, Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' hit the theatres on Christmas day. Both the films were superhits, but during the promotions of his film, Aamir got the theatre goers to shave their heads like his look in Ghajini'. So every time a cinebuff would go to watch Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' they would in a way also witness the Ghajini' guys flashing their heads. That was Aamir's way of promoting his movie among the people seeing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'.
