What is wrong to dub a Hindi film in Bangla like Tamil and Telugu?

Most big budget Hindi films are dubbed in Tamil and Telugu to cater South Indian market but despite Bangla being India's second most spoken language after Hindi they don't dub films to release it in West Bengal, Tripura and parts of Assam. They release original Hindi films there. In Bangladesh Hindi films are not allowed because its 'Hindi' film but if dubbed in Bangla its allowed. We recently saw a Bangla dubbed Hindi film, 'Children of War'.

Recently Gunday was dubbed in Bangla to release in West Bengal but there was mass protest from Kolkata based Bangla film industry against dubbing Hindi films in Bangla. They couldn't even release Bangla version Gunday in Kolkata. I don't get what's wrong in dubbing Hindi films in Bangla. Does South film industry protest if any Hindi film is dubbed in Tamil, Telugu language? Then why Bangla film industry protests against it?

Because Indian bengalis understand hindi quite well. Bangladeshi's don't but Bollywood doesn't cater to them.

Well, I am a Bengali, I live in Calcutta and I really don't want movies like Gunday in Bengali. Thank you.
Also, we have much better films in terms of quality. Most of us understand Hindi very well too. Bengalis are not resistant to Hindi like South Indians or other people are. Maybe that's why.

Most understand Hindi. It is not necessary.

Bangladesh will not let Indian films to play in local theaters. Children of War was allowed because it was about the Liberation war. They think Indian films will change local culture and will drive the local film industry out. Although all Indian TV channels are allowed. I think it's mostly politics.

Not all South Indians. I live in interior part of Karnataka and everyone here watches BW more. Same with Andhra Pradesh too i think. Only few Tamil Nadu and Kerela people prefer Tamil/Malyalam more.

I am not saying all. But South Indians are comparatively more closed off against Hindi than Bengalis. The trend is obviously changing/has been changing for a long time, but the resistance is there.
