Sonakshi who had more potential than most of the current lost spoiled her image by doing dozen male centric masala films with senior citizens. Her screen image is older than actresses older than her in age.

Kajol wasn't considered glamorous but YRF/Dharma always made sure she looked nice in their films...KKHH, K3G, Fanaa. Parineeti's styling in KD looks awful and in HTP also she was a tomboy.

I don't think it's a case of times are different..YJHD also had a transformation. Those films still work. With the right stylist anything can happen.
