I think parents are helpless now. They obviously can't hover around kids all the time. They can't shield them from hearing stuff played on loud speakers at public places. What should they do except write open letters to creators of such content?
That said vulgarity was always part of pop culture. The so called masters like Rafi and Kishore have also sung stuff like " chhoo lene do nazuk hothon ko", "rafta rafta dekho aankh meri ladi hai aankh jis se ladi hai woh paas mere khadi hai". The only difference is that earlier media was not widespread so parents could restrict consumption of such songs.
