Weak Tulsi??? - Article

Gautami Kapoor, the actress who replaced Smriti Irani in Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi, has returned to Virani's Shantiniketan but people are finding it very difficult to relate to this much milder version of Tulsi. In Gautami's avatar, Tulsi is being mal-treated by her daughters-in-law, which was unthinkable during the time of Smriti Irani. Smriti's Tulsi was a strong headed woman who took no nonsense from any quarter and was an ideal in all her roles of a family.

Sources say that this weak Tulsi has been created by Balaji to suit the personality of Gautami Kapoor, who they thought would not be able to carry off the strong Tulsi's character appropriately. Another school of thought looks at this to be Ektaa Kapoor's way of leaving a way for the return of Smriti Irani in the strong avatar of Tulsi as and when the czarina thinks fit.

Whatever may be the reason of a weak Tulsi but Ektaa is already having the last laugh as the TRPs of the show has gone up since the change of Tulsi's characterization. As the creative head Nivedita Basu says, ' I don't know if that is due to the audience seeking some change or something else but I have got positive reactions from people. Gautami's characterization is different so it's unfair to compare her with Smriti.'
