Attachment -The root cause!

Everywhere we see attachment infact overattachment beyond measures is root cause of our own unhapiness-

Bhishma was overattached to his father's lust-he gave up his kingdom-result Kuru vansh actaully perished without any good rulers.

Bhishma was overattached to Throne of Kurus-he sided with duryodhan in all his misdeeds willingly/non-willingly-pandavas suffered.

Shakuni overattached to sister-he brought the downfall of Kauravas.

Dhritirashtra-Overattached to Duryodhan-he never was a king anyways,i feel only he was an agent of Duryodhan.

Draupadi -overattached about her pride-Net result all her sons died in the war.

Guru Drona-overattached to Aswathhama-he dies unlawfully.

In life whwnver we see unhappiness,its our attachment to the same-remove the attachment from the cause,the situation will change-do your duty without any strings attached,rewards will come later!

Interesting post!!

But I think, u missed out on a few characters...

Yudisthir...over-attached to his sense of Dharma...outcome...Draupadi's Vastraharan.

Karna...overattached to Duryodhan for friendship/loyalty, as well as his urge to prove himself greater than Arjun/ the greatest...outcome was his doom, which came in an unfair manner.

Arjun...overattached to his elder brother's commands...outcome...Draupadi's Vastraharan.

Duryodhan...over-attached to his greed, ego, throne and hatred for the Pandavas...outcome...destruction of his own whole clan.

Dhritarashtra...over-attached to his sons...outcome...overlooking of Duryodhan's misdeeds, that later led to destruction.

As for Shakuni, I don't think it was his over-attachment to his sister...in the epic, if I'm not mistaken, it's not clear, as to y he conspired so much...

And as for Draupadi, I would like to say that it was not her "pride", but her urge to get justice/revenge that led to her sons' death. She just couldn't forget her molestation, and wanted to make sure her tormentors were punished. But she lost her own sons in the process.

I agree. I don't think Draupadi was attached to her pride. She had suffered great humiliation and pain being molested by her own BILs. Not one person had protected her, not even her own husbands, except for God. It was a woman's cry for justice that spurned the war, so I would not at all call it Draupadi's pride.
