I believe that the audiences are bored of the daily soaps to an extent and Jodha Akbar brings some freshness there. It's the historical background that interests the most.

It seems EK has had to come back on a damage control mission from this article - she must have been active till March and then taken off to concentrate on her films - and this is the period from April till now that the show has been going from bad to worse to worst - and its hit rock bottom - seems EK is back to do some kind of damage control now (this entire article with the specific mention of EK is also an act of damage control just to let audience know that she is back with JA) - wonder if she will be successful?!?!?!?!?!
