Hello YHMians, back with a new part...errors honge...so pls excuse that!

Thanks for all the likes and comments..every comment is a motivation to write more...thanks a ton!

Part 9:

She added, "Can we go out somewhere?"

Raman was too excited about what she asked. He hadn't expected this from her so soon. He nodded the very next instant. It was going to be their very first date and he was determined to make it very special for her.

*******************************

He had firmly decided that he wouldn't make her feel uncomfortable by pushing her for anything at all but the moment he saw her dressed up in the light blue saree, his heart skipped a beat and he indeed wasn't sure how he was going to keep his hands off her. He was still getting used to her in such sarees. Ishita he had known wore salwar suits always. But even then she used to enchant him with her simplicity. Today she was no different from her subtle make up and accessories but there was something special and different about the way she dressed. He knew that it was perhaps her mature way of handling things but even then wished to believe that it was all for him. Crazy me! He chided himself as he led her out of the house.

They drive along, but are yet to start a conversation. The silence wasn't making Raman comfortable. It was unsettling but it seemed like she liked it more than a conversation with him. He had made some appreciatory glances at her and also said a word or two but all of it ended at a dead end. It was more because of her being less eager to continue the talk.

He couldn't understand her mind at such moments. He knew that she had married him and also doing many of these courtesies because of her compulsion and to make her parents especially her amma happy but even then, there was a tinge of love hidden deep inside her still which gave him a fair hope that things would get back to normal very soon. He did feel a bit disappointed at her aloofness but then he knew he had to use this opportunity to make her turn towards him in all meanings.

When he felt suffocated due to the lull between them, he broke the awkward silence which was killing him literally, "Ishita..."

Ishita turned to his side for the first time after getting into the car and enquired, "haan...bolo Raman"

Raman voiced casually with a chuckle, "Long drive karthe waqt kuch baatein bhi kar sakthe hai Ishita...silence is not always golden!"

It was clear that he wanted to make her to feel at home and comfortable with him and he also wanted to stretch the time they were together somehow. Only by spending quality time together could he bring her closer to him. He added when she was silent for a whole minute, "You wanted to tell me something, right?"

Ishita nodded, "hmm...why don't we stop somewhere and walk a bit?

They were in the middle of nowhere but he was on his way to a far off beach. So he nodded and drove a little more from where the beach was at a walk-able distance. He parked the car at a decent place and they got down.

As they walked along, she went silent again as if confused about where and how to begin. He heaved a deep sigh and took things into control, "Why are you hesitating so much? We are friends"

She sarcastically snubbed, "Are we?"

There was a tinge of sadness in her voice but Raman felt irritated by her indifferent insensitive reply. Her sarcasm hurt him but then he controlled himself as he knew that he had to be ready to face such things from her to bring her to the right track...to his track.

He had no option but be extremely patient with her but her taking the initiative to talk and spend time together sure gave Raman gave him a ray of hope that everything would become normal soon.

He replied naughtily with a grin, "Arre Jhansi ki rani, maana hum couple bhi hai though we don't behave like one..."

When he saw her glaring for him addressing her as Jhansi ki rani or was it for his naughty comment, he explained, "Oh come on Ishita, what's wrong with you? Kuch aur rishta ho na ho, friendship toh hai...We used to be best of friends and I still think so...We used to call such names too...remember you gave me the name Raavan Kumar...Just because we are married now and that too under special conditions doesn't mean we have to change all our past equations...Why cant we behave normal and casual like we used to?"

Her glare turned to a sort of indifference and she looked away from him. In those few moments, her mind wandered back to her conversations with Subbu. She used to call him Subbu or at times as Pappu also. She used to mock him for his typical child like behaviour, all thanks to his mom who pampered him a lot.

He used to tease her by calling moti due to her plump form back then but at good times, he used to also flatter her with romantic pet names...Ishu, sweetu and sweety being frequent ones. Memories of their happy moments were inevitable though she honestly tried to shut them out. She knew it wasn't right to even think about it now when she was married to Raman but she felt helpless.

Her indifference and silence disturbed Raman and he knew it was going to be tough times ahead.

Before he could say something, she spoke apologetically, "I am sorry but I have to make this clear Raman"

Now that was quite unexpected and he just forgot all his complaints at that. He looked at her enquiringly as to why this now and she explained, "I agreed for this wedding only for amma's sake... I mean I wasn't ready for it in the real sense...maine iss baare mein aapse baat nahi kiya...So I thought I have to make this clear"

Having said that, she clearly drew a line setting the boundaries of their relationship and he had comprehended this already from her behaviour. So it wasn't a shock to him. He took is in its stride. He could sense her voice cracking up and he stopped at that spot. Her hesitation was clear but she had to do this because she already knew how much was his attraction and desire or perhaps as he claims, it was his love for her. But she wasn't ready for any of it and he had to understand and accept it too.

Meanwhile, he understood what she was intending to say.

He turned to her and held her by her shoulders. Oblivious to herself, she had tears in her eyes which threatened to fall down even though she was firm that she would never cry. He spoke up trying to comfort her ignoring all her cold attitudes towards him, "I know what you feel Ishita...but trust me...as I told you, you can decide the boundaries of our relationship...I will never force you for something with which you aren't comfortable Ishu"

She just nodded silently. He left her shoulders and then started walking towards the car. She followed him. He reiterated everything that she said and wondered what he could do to make her trust him again. She should come back to the comfort zone she used to share with him and he would everything possible to make this happen. His desire for her had already taken a back seat in his mind and their life together but he wasn't the one to step back and remain a silent witness to what she was going through.

She should have melted with such sincere words from him but she couldn't. Forgetting everything about a two year married life, which had love or atleast she had believed so till she knew Subbu's reality, wasn't easy. She needed immense time to put past that life and those memories. He knew she needed time too. Her frozen thoughts, her frozen heart and soul needed time to melt down in his warmth.

He hadn't failed to notice her changed way of addressing him as "Aap". Was it due to the respect she wanted to give him as he was her husband or was she generally getting formal with him? He wasn't too sure but he would handle that later. For now, he had to lighten this situation.

He gestured her to get in and as he starts the car, he voices, "bohat bhook lagi hai yaar...ab dinner karthe hai...baaki baatein toh hoti rahegi...We have a lifetime for that!"

She was amused at his instant change of mood and the truth was that she didn't expect this from him now. He took her smile as a yes and steered to the restaurant. He had booked a table for two and so took their seats. It was a corner table and away from the rushes but still, every table was visible from theirs.

There was a void moment before the waiter arrived with the menu cards. Raman politely gestured Ishita to order. She was quick in deciding and Raman was indeed pleased that she hadn't forgotten any of his favourites. She ordered vegetarian for herself while selecting his most favorite butter chicken for him.

As she told the dish, he interrupted, "Ishita, I don't mind having veg..."

He remembered her being very uncomfortable at even the mention of non veg dishes, leave alone having them on the table. So he was okay with just vegetarian but he was in for a surprise when she smiled and replied, "I am ok with it Raman..."

He smiled back and just let her order. Once the waiter went away, he spoke up, "tumhe non veg dekhne se hi allergy tha...So I thought I will change to..."

She snapped him short, "usski koyi zaroorat nahi Raman...don't change anything for my sake..."

He could see that she had changed a lot from the previous naive iyer girl. Perhaps life in US changed her but her next line crashed something in him, "and don't expect me to change too"

That hurt because her stubbornness not to change and come back to him reflected in her words. He could sense that she meant much more than the cuisine there. But he just ignored it and tried to focus at something else as he knew that she was saying it in her present mind state.

All around them were couples who were enjoying their dinner and a few of them feeding each other fondly as well. There was a dance floor and some were dancing too and seemed deeply in love forgetting the world around them.

Seeing the direction of his glance, she couldn't resist herself from asking with sarcasm, "You wish to dance with me, huh?"

He was quick to catch the sarcasm there but he wasn't giving it up so soon, "Why not?"

He couldn't let go of a chance to get closer to her and it wasn't for any physical intimacy as she believed but he wanted to evoke her deep buried feelings for him. He was damn sure that she would willingly change and come into his arms once she recognizes that none of those feelings are dead inside her. They are just dormant and waiting to become alive again. He would bring them alive once again.

She stared at him for the ready made reply more because he trapped her in her own sarcasm. He added with a naughty glint as a reply to her stare, "I thought you were going to give us a chance Ishu! Waise bhi aise aise pyare pyare lamhe aur baatein se hi pyar badtha hai..."

She taunted back in reply, "lagtha hai aap bohat saare romantic films dekhne lage hai...aur khaafi love stories bhi padthe honge, right? But I beg to differ here Raman...aise baatein sirf kahaaniyon mein accha lagthe hai...practical life mein inn sab ka koyi matlab nahi..."

He shot back instantly because he could feel the false mask she was trying to put up before him in an attempt to push him away from her, "phir kaise baatein tumaare liye matlab rakhte hai Ishita?"

He looked intently into her eyes trying to dig out her real thoughts and added after a moment of silence, "What is your concept of love now Ishita?"

Her bottled up anger and pent up emotions due to her past marriage was barging out at such moments. His direct question made her glance at him. Their eyes met with each other and it spoke volumes to each other. Her eyes and her heart were on the verge of betraying her determined mind to sideline and ignore him. No it wasn't that easy to ignore this man in her life. She could pose ignorance to her own deep feelings for him but never could make herself believe that her love had died out.

She felt all her resolves melting away by his intense gaze. No she couldn't let that happen either. She gripped her slipping heart back tightly and snapped out using all her determination.

She replied sternly without a second thought, "pyar ka concept hi bhakwaas hai...dil ka connection, dil se judhe hua baatein, sab ke sab nonsense hai...aisa kuch haqeekat mein nahi hota...jo bhi hota hai sirf ek mere attraction hai...just plain physical attraction and selfish emotions...nothing more!"

Her hurt and totally shattered heart was well evident in those harsh words and weird definition of love. He could feel how much pain she has gone through in her past relationship, so much that a sweet sensitive girl like her had become or is acting as a stone hearted insensitive girl who talks such bitter and harsh things about love. Though he didn't know the real problem between her and Subbu, he could understand that Subbu was a complete jerk due to which she had lost trust in the pure feeling of love.

Though he knew that her past was never going to affect his love for her, he felt an urge to know what exactly happened and what had made her change to this extent. He would find that out soon and also restore back her faith in love. He promised to himself that he would give all his love to her and bring her around.

But at the present moment, he couldn't afford to become serious like her. So he ignored her rude words and chuckled and that made her turn to him. She stared at him for the mock like chuckle while he casually asked, "So you mean to say you are physically attracted to me, huh?"

She felt caught in her own words and before she could think of a befitting reply, she felt his hand hovering on hers and he was leaning to her side slowly as if to kiss her.

She shrugged off his hand quickly but even then she felt a sudden shortage of words or justifications to reply to him or even scold him for the liberty he took over her, so she opted for the easier option by muttering, "Bhakwaas...kuch bhi..."

He grinned and replied with his hand held out to her, "agar bhakwaas hai toh chalo...let's dance...jab koyi feelings ya attraction nahi hai toh mere saath dance karne mein kya darr?? You shouldn't be affected by it, right?"

She turned away but her ego wasn't letting her to refuse that invite to dance. She gave in just to prove her point. He happily held her hand and took her to the dance floor.

They start dancing for a romantic number which could make any heart flutter and his intimate touches had the magic to make her respond and also invoke the sensations which she believed to have worn out.
