I loved the way Arjun tried to present his views and the way
Shree reacted to that...Both were so different from their
usual self...

And at last , Shree started to realize what Arjun was

The four Days!

Chapter-40:

Thirukkural: (Chapter-78; Poem-771)

O, my foes, stand not before my leader; (for) many are those who did so but afterwards stood (in the shape of) statues [meaning dead!]

-Thiruvalluvar.

He peered into the compound, which stood up to my shoulders.

He decided to vault the wall once got the situation in.

That was when I asked slowly, "sir, we can use the gate way. It's open too!"

But I came to know that he had other plans as he said, "No, I need the element of surprise."

That made me to obey him.

He vaulted the wall and jumped into the compound. We had to follow him suit.

Once all the eight of us entered in, we hid ourselves behind the trees and bushes near the compound wall, for men were wandering around.

We slowly moved towards the side entrance of the factory.

The one floor building went widely on both sides of the side entrance.

We noted that the door was open and we could not hear any machines at that hour of evening.

Suddenly one man turned toward the bushes as we moved. He did not shout to get other's attention. He moved toward the bushes.

That was his mistake.

Once he approached, Arjun appeared from behind a tree and surprised him.

The man jumped and asked in a voice that had some authority in it.

"Hay, who are you? What are you doing here?"

Arjun answered him with hands at once.

Two smart strokes, one on the nose and one on the side of the neck was enough for him to floor the man standing before him.

The police men in mufti helped us to hide the unconscious body behind a bush.

Before we could complete the job, Arjun sent us another body in the same condition.

Once reached the side door he waited a moment to check the door way then he signaled us to follow him.

Slowly, we entered in and got that the hall before us was empty and it had two doorways one went to the entrance and the other to the back side.

We stood with drawn guns in a circle facing every corner and we parted into two groups, each with four members.

Arjun, Chottu and two police men in one group and they started moving toward the entrance.

Arjun led the group and not because he should stand in the first line to get pride, but to face the danger before others if fate changed miserably, we knew it well now than in any other occasion!

Ayesha, I and the other two police men moved in the opposite direction and at the end of the hall met a door way.

We were going into yet another door way, when we heard men coming from the other side of the partly closed doors.

They did not expect us and came into the room, unfortunately. Once they saw us, they started to stare us- no at our guns, to be exact.

Then I started my hackneyed phrase, "You are under arrest! Put your hand where I can see-" I stopped short as one of them raised his hand but with a gun.

God, I had to admit that my magical words did not work from that morning!

That was when we heard a gunshot on the other side of the hall behind us. The men got the scenario well then and were ready to shoot.

Then we had to shoot them in defense and we moved further.

Arjun moved with his group. They crossed the hall and were going to enter into the next room, when he saw in the corner of his eyes that someone, who came in through the side entrance and saw the men, was going to shoot a police man who did not know of his coming.

The next moment that fellow fell down with a bullet in his chest.

The bullet hit him near the heart and the survival rate was poor.

Once there was no movement from him the group moved further.

Hearing the shot many started rushing into the hall from every known direction.

The place suddenly had changed into a war field and all hell broke out then.

The only sound that filled our ears was the gunshot, no matter whose gun it was fired from.

Arjun took his position near the van and peered in to see whether the girl was already packed and loaded in it. But the van was empty.

We started to diminish the count of the opposite party as the number of bodies increased.

We heard some sound like dragging something heavy, across the floor, somewhere inside the factory. We could not guess what it was.

It was when the guys tried to escape from us, once they got the truth that they were outnumbered by then. The guys without a gun started running to seek hiding.

As one fellow started climbing on a wall and was trying to get hold of a branch of a tree to jump on the other side of the wall, Arjun shot him at the ankle. That brought him down fast. He could not move and was wincing in pain.

Suddenly two others came simultaneously to attack him. He moved to one side as he smelt them coming. He started smashing them as Chottu was playing with other two, who were begging him to let them go.

Chottu did not care the springs from his ponytail, continuously coming to hide his view. At one point he released the whole tress of hair from the ponytail as he removed the hair-band he was wearing.

Eventually we were out of bullets.

Once the flow of men coming to conflict us decreased to a manageable level, Ayesha made her way to search the girl.

One fellow came to me from behind suddenly. He tried to strangle me. I was trying hard to clutch his hands and keep them from crushing my neck. His grip was too hard to resist. He was winning on his task. I was nearly losing my breath and my heart was beating like a fast moving type writer.

I could not stand it anymore.

I'm not going to make it! I thought wearily.
