I am super excited too!
The promos & of course AB Sr's involvement in the project got me most interested. Really looking forward to this show & this forum :)

Yes, of course, Swetha, and for the series director and the episode director as well: Anurag Kashyap and Shoorjit Sircar.

Raj Kapoor used to say that a film is made on 2 tables: the writing table and the editing table. He was too casual about the actors, being one himself, but the fact is that very few actors, and Amitabh Bachchan is one of them, can manage with a bad script and a poor director, And even he could not manage it at times.

Did you watch Yashraj's Powder, which ran for 6 months, 1 hour a week on Saturdays, on Sony 4 years ago? It was better than anything similar made in the West, including The Sopranos, and being an insider in government, I could see how accurate the depiction of the working of the anti-narcotics depts was in Powder. But Sony botched it up badly, shifting the timings, no repeats and very little publicity (unlike this time).

Agree Sony needs to focus on fiction shows and stop airing Nonstop CID Repeats

I think they are not showing repeats because they want audience to watch it at original time of telecast and get better ratings.
To be honest the treatment of the show is total opposite of what Indian viewers are used to. Too subtle, bare minimum background music, a dark vibe visually. The cast is stellar but the biggest and only draw is Mr. Bachchan. Most people are going to watch it, even if they do not like it, just due to curiosity of seeing Amitabh Bachchan. If they relegate it to repeats just to satiate curiosity the show won't recover investment. So Sony is cashing curiosity also in original telecasts only.

My dear Anu,

How nice to meet up with you again after so long! Why did you not respond to me by name?

I seemed to remember your new id; it reminded me of my college physics!😉 The last time I heard from you was on Aug 18, 2013, about your post on the birthday thread for Mohit Raina. Alas, it was not just the dismal Ramayana track, which was abandoned on the banks of the Sarayu, but all that came after as well, and I was forced to abandon DKDM inspite of Mohit being as good as ever.

To revert to Yudh, yes, your explanation sounds plausible, and your @blue is spot on

After watching the first episode last night, I felt that it was even more demanding than Powder, which was, at one level, a relatively simple cops and robbers story. This is a complex morality play, and one has to listen very carefully so as not to miss anything, and so much is not shown but only hinted at in the lines.

Amitabh Bachchan has done many films like this - Rann, Aarakshan, and so on, and then Shanghai, though not his, was also in this genre. It will take us all of the first week to orient ourselves properly, and then it will, I feel, go swimmingly. Maybe they will succeed in training at least part of the Indian TV audience to like something other than saas bahu sagas after all!😉
