In which case, Dev may offer to step in or something. I think Dev might interfere in Shaurya's plans.
Plus, in the meantime they will find out Karan's secret with their daughter and the Goenka family will get a slap in the face apart from Dev. Even Saint Suchitra was willing to believe the worst about Payal because of her testimony. So, when they are so cavalier about this bet which has the reputation of a young, innocent girl at stake how do you think they will react when the tables are turned and Karan, the equivalent of a criminal is seeing their lovely daughter? 😆😆 Finally, the mirror of their own actions will be shown to them. Kangana will become another pawn of Durga to show the family their downfall.
It's not so much shocking the attitude of the Goenkas about this bet, as it is that wealthy families act this way in real life. This is a drama, but it has its roots in the way society works. When they live above the law, their morals get warped. And few people act like Suchitra and her son. The power and wealth goes to most people's heads and the others' willingness to help them at a price.
