Recently, I am finding Jhalak/Colors a bit annoying by them bringing in foreign talent.
I understand these outsiders like Karan's choreographer, Maksim (he was a pleasure to the eyes..he needed to stay longer), Lauren (love her and she had the right to be there cuz she was in ABCD), now the Wildcard.. come into the show to get recognition to get into Bollywood.

But, this show is suppose to be "Dancing with the Stars India" why bring in people that the Indian audience does not even know? Plus, there is a huge language barrier and it is unfair to these foreigners when the hosts/judges crack jokes and speak in Hindi and they stand there clueless.

All of this ^ is coming from me, a foreigner. I watch Jhalak to watch India's talent and not foreign talent, which I can watch in Western shows here in the West.

Thoughts?

I agree. Especially when you can't understand the language it becomes hard. And then when you have Indian dance forms, it becomes harder to connect with.

But what annoys me the most is this whole western theme base. I mean it's an Indian reality show right? Why can't we show our culture? India's culture...American shows will show their culture. We want to show how proud we are of India, our identity, our pechaan. We need western dance forms to show versatility, I agree. But it seems like the whole atmosphere is all westernized from the outfits to everything. Every episode even the outfits are all westernized. Madhuri who looks divine in saris is seen wearing western outfits 90% of the time. Come on, Jhalak. Show your culture, showcase INDIA.

Edit to add: I am born and brought up in America. I've seen an overdose of westernized things. I want to see my country's origins now. India as a country, a culture. The talent India has.

I totally agree with you. They should just do themes for western dance, but show more Indian. Like classical forms, which are such hard forms and these dancers should learn as they are Indian forms. Its kind of a shame that they prefer to learn Western/Latino forms when they cannot even master their own country's dance forms. Also, how are the audience (older generation) suppose to relate to Western forms.
I feel Madhuri speaks way too much English, I find it weird that they used Hindi subtitles on the screen for Maks, but never for Madhuri who prefers to speak English. Your right about the entire layout of the show is Western, which is really sad. India is trying too hard to be Western, which is not good for the Indian culture/language/society. Being different is what makes country unique. They do it in movies too, but when its a TV show I think it should focus more on Indian dance and connect with the daily Indian watching the show.

they are way too much influenced by the countries having modern cultures nd all that they forgot their origin...its a national dance reality show..for indian ppl...y to westernize evry damn thing...
its really shameful to move on from ur origin to smthing which u arent

I so agree with you.
Bringing in Elena was the most stupid decision ever. She is not that good also, instead her they could have approached Alisha [She was a choreographer here earlier] or some Indian. Its as if they don't find the potential in Indians. -_-
Also TJ , now purposefully she'll be dragged to the top. -_-

Ya I found it weird in the first episode Karan is dancing with an Indian choreographer and later she leaves and Elena comes in. This made no sense to me, there are so many good Indian female choreographers out there. I feel bad for both Elena and Karan because they lack chemistry and she cannot help with Indian forms nor does she understand the lyrics of songs, which would help her choreography.

I agree. It adds a disparity in the contestants, so it is not good for them

Karan's choreographer really sucks šŸ˜•
