Part 8:
He knew what she thought about him and also realized that she wasn't ready for a relationship at this point. He would slowly bring her around and win her trust back. He promised to himself that he would shower her with so much love that she will forget every sorrow, every hatred of her past and learn to love again. Before that, they would first become the Raman and Ishita who were close friends once. He wanted to rewind back the time and relive it and this time, without any slip or blunder from his side.
As they settled on two extreme sides of the bed, both their hearts ached for sure.
He sadly realized that even though they were so close to each other, her heart was miles away from his.

The last vision before he slept was her pretty face which glowed in the dim golden light from outside. That night, sleep happened easier than usual as he felt at peace having her there. In her presence, all his bitter traumatic experiences and memories faded away. He was all set to make fresh sweet memories with her. He was determined to rewrite their new story with love and just love!
Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi
Kismat Pe Aaye Na Yakeen
Utar Aye Jheel Main
Jaise Chaand Utarata Hai Kabhi
Houle Haule
Dhere Se
Gunguni Dhoop Ki Tarah Se
Tarnnum Main Tum
Chookey Mujhe Guzri Ho Yun
Dekhon Tumhe Ya Mein Sunoo
Tun Ho Junoon
Kyun Pehle Na
Aai Tum
Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi
Kismat Pe Aaye Na Yakeen
He opened his eyes thinking about her and he felt he heard his name being called out. Yes, it wasn't a dream. She was really calling him and also sprinkled a few drops of water on his face. Ohhh how many times had he dreamt of such a morning when she would wake him up and give him his bed coffee, but no she wouldn't do that. She was a dentist and always will be one. She always chided him for being careless with his teeth. She insisted he brushed before eating anything at all. Hygiene and cleanliness was top priority for her. And now, she was his wife too. So there was no way she was going to let him have his way.
He felt her fingers run through his hair gently pampering him gently. Then he felt a faint touch on his cheeks patting him gently to wake up. He opened his eyes and saw her all dressed up in a beautiful cream and orange saree. Her smile was worth a million dollars and he could sacrifice his bed coffee or whatever it was for that one smile. He closed his eyes thinking that it was his dream when she gently shook him and glided her fingers through his hair lovingly again, "Raman, uto na...humein baahar jaana hai"
He smiled to himself thinking how crazy he was dreaming all such things but then the voice turned sterner and louder and it was nothing near to what he heard first,"RAMAN...Get UP ...You are getting late for work"
Now this wasn't a dream. It was really happening. He jerked up to see her standing with her hands on her hips and staring at him. Was the earlier one a dream? He was confused!
As he opened his eyes and saw her. She looked angry and exactly like Jhansi ki rani. He smiled but she didn't. He was puzzled wondering what angered her. What did he do? He narrowed his eyes and thought to himself, "did I blabber some nonsense in my sleep and did she hear that?"
He hoped he did not tell some crazy thing in his sleep and sat up still looking at her enquiringly and also wondering if it was the continuation of his dream but she was wearing a saree in his dream and was smiling at him lovingly. She also pouted cutely calling him Raman and that too fondly but now she was dressed in a green kurta and she was in so much anger that he felt that she would slice him with the sword that hung on the adjacent wall. He also mentally noted that he should get it removed from the wall as a safety precaution, else it would be harmful to him. He couldnt trust his rani in that. She could really become one if angry. Her face didn't mellow down a bit too at his smile. She looked nothing like in the dream but yes, one thing was common in his dream and in reality. She looked beautiful as always and he couldn't stop gazing at her!
"What are you up to Raman?"
Her next question came out so suddenly that he struggled for an answer and she went on to explain. The issue was that his servant cum caretaker had told her that he doesn't go to office regularly and also that it was vodka or whiskey that he drinks instead of tea or coffee. So she was very angry at his wavered away life style. She had to put him back to the right track and get him to lead a normal disciplined life. She also realized that now his entire life and routines were changed. He skipped his jog and all his work out schedules. He never had food on time nor did he have any kind of social activity. All his business meetings and other schedules were being done by his trusted assistant Mihir who was more like a brother to him. Ishita had jotted down a list of things to do to set his life back. She couldn't let him go on like this. No, not at any cost!
She didn't know why she felt a sense of responsibility towards him at this point as she obviously wasn't ready to accept or even acknowledgement their new relationship.
Their wedding hadn't happened in the best circumstances nor was she getting attached to him but it still hurt seeing him disoriented and off track in life.
Perhaps for old time's sake...yup, that's what it was, she told herself as she confronted him with her allegations. He looked at her wondering what she was meaning and she explained all of it and finished it with questions, "Why aren't you going to office Raman? You told me that you have moved ahead of your past, right? Then what stops you from behaving normal like before?"
All her accusations only reflected her care, concern and yes one emotion which she refuted..Love!
Even though she was scolding and accusing, he could only smile back silently basking in the glory of her unvoiced love.
His smile made her furious and she took a few drops of water and sprinkled on his face, "aaj se, balke abi se tum wahi karoge jo main kehti hoom...so get out of the bed now!"
He muttered "yes boss" to himself and got up. He voiced, "sab kuch karunga Ishita but I can't go to office today...kal se chalunga..."
She looked at him enquiringly, "kyun? Is it a holiday today?"
Raman grinned sheepishly and replied,"nahi...humaari shaadi bas kal hi hua aur aaj agar office gaya toh sab..."
She smirked hearing that and replied, "oh yeah...Raavan Kumar is always worried about what others would think...patha hai tumaari problem kya hai? You and your life is always influenced by other people's thoughts"
She was right but then he was like that and never could he change. His silence made Ishita stop at that and she just shrugged, "ok...fine...but kal se office jaana hi hoga...I am also planning to join back at the clinic..."
He was happy that she was behaving like a wife to him and also keeping interest in his life. His smile told her his mind thoughts and she replied as if answering to his unvoiced remark on the same, "mere baaton ka, concern ka kuch aur matlab nikaalne ki zaroorat nahi...ek hi ghar mein reh rahe hai toh..."
He couldn't help chuckle at her justification and decided to let her have her way, "mujhe patha hai Ishita...inn sab ka woh matlab nahi hai jo main samajhna chaahta hoom...ek hi ghar mein ek hi kamre mein rehne ka matlab pyar thodi na hai?"
She glared at him sensing his naughtiness while he added in a more serious voice, "don't worry, I am not expecting anything more than what you want to give me or do Ishita...In our relationship, you are the one to decide the path...You will lead and I will merely follow..."
He finished with a cheeky grin and she wasn't able to comprehend what he meant but then she just sighed that he was giving her the much required space. That was all she required as of now.
She walked away quietly to proceed on the next agenda on her list and it was to take a tour of his huge mansion. Though she had been there twice, she had never seen all the rooms.
He grinned at her sudden exit understanding that she was trying her best to hold herself back and keep away from him as much as possible.
He went on to continue his morning chores. When he came back after brushing, he saw his coffee on the table. He couldn't help a smile at her disciplined ways and also the way she did things for him and cared for him. Even if she didn't show it out explicitly, he could feel the warmth of her love in all that she did.
Half an hour later, he walked out of the bedroom and saw her struggling with an oval mirror which had been in the store room. The mirror had a story of its own. It took him back to the time when he and Shagun were setting up the house. He had loved this mirror and bought it but Shagun wasn't impressed at all. She found it too simple and out of class. She chose a mirror which was now placed in their bed room which looked rich and class according to her. Raman had hated it but then compromised for the sake of Shagun.
This mirror of his choice, went into the store room right then. He snapped out of his memories and wondered what Ishita intended to do with the mirror. Right then, as if reading his mind, she called him, "Raman, this mirror is really beautiful...I love it...isse kyun store room mein rakha hai??...it deserves a better place...Can I place it somewhere?"
Raman smiled at their similar tastes and nodded, "yeah of course...ek kaam karthe hai...yahaan bed room pe lagaathe hai!"
He rushed to help her carry it to the room. He promptly pushed the huge king sized mirror cum table to a corner and drove in a nail right there as he knew what exactly Ishita wished for.
Though she thought that this simple elegant mirror would suit that point, she hadn't wanted to remove the already placed one thinking that it was Raman's choice. She only wished to hang this one in some room but when Raman did exactly what she thought of, she looked really astonished and also pleased. Raman pointed to the nail, "yahi lagaana chaahti ho na?"
She nodded but the bewilderment at him knowing her mind reflected in her eyes. He stepped a little away giving her the space and added, "main bhi yahi lagaana chahta tha parr..."
His parr trailed off and she knew that it was related to Shagun. She didn't reply but just moved ahead and stretched up a bit to hang the mirror. She wasn't able to place properly and groove it into the nail. She hissed in annoyance about not being able to place it. She mindlessly voiced in a low voice, "yeh zyaadha uphar hogaya...place nahi ho raha..."
Without a noise or a word, he came from behind, his hands travelled up to catch her hands along with the mirror lifting it up and hung it in the nail properly.
As their reflections came together in the mirror, he voiced in a romantic tone, "ab dekho...It looks perfect!"
Their closeness...his intimate romantic gesture and his comment which was about the reflection on the mirror where they stood so close to each other rather than on the position of the mirror made her speechless for a long moment. For the first time, she didn't know what to reply or rather forgot everything else.
As his words flew out, his breath hit the most sensitive point of her neck, making her freeze like a statue. Unknowingly or perhaps it was his sweet torture to lure her, his lips brushed past her ear lobes making her shudder but yet she remained locked in there. For those brief moments, she seemed to have forgotten their present equations.
Then she snapped out and rudely broke away from him by pushing his hands off her.
He grabbed her wrist and voiced, "Ishita...We need to talk..."
She freed her hands and replied assuming that he was going to tell her something about the physical relationship,"I know but usske pehle mujhe kuch kehna hai Raman..."
He wondered what Jhansi ki rani had in mind and was quite curious about it too as he had no doubt that she loved him deeply like he did and also that she was attracted to him the same way he was. The effect his physical closeness had on her was undeniable and so very evident!
She added, "Yahaan nahi...can we go out somewhere in the evening?"
Raman was too excited about what she asked. He hadn't expected this from her so soon. He nodded. It was going to be their very first date and he was determined to make it very special for her.
[To be continued]
